Peace is the absence of conflict. Peace can only be gained by ensuring that no one is crazy enough to attack you, and if they do, that they don't exist to attack you twice.
What I love about this the most is that by having a nominally peaceful rival, but the potential for him to become your greatest enemy, players have the incentive to play a normal enough game, but can also choose to experience this hilarious set of circumstances should they want to. It's a completely optional inclusion which only enhances the game, but doesn't do anything to upset the balance of the game either.
It's hillarious how a man who's politics focused on the return of the use of traditional-native technology and customs as base of India's economy loves the idea of being the peak nuclear power state in this game.
Honestly you could actually work that into his character (in the game) when push comes to shove, the only way to fight a neccessary war with the least amount of suffering is to destroy the enemy quickly and swiftly, ergo a nuke. Actually fits pretty well
@@TrickyTrickyFox it wouldn't be much different (if not less), because the bug's cause is under/overflow, basically aggression level is between 0 and 255, and if it's value is exceeded (to both sides), then there will be unexpected results. But the number will still be between 0 and 255
Still one of my favorite examples of developers keeping/adapting a bug they find funny, along with my personal favorite of Trombe's overriding potential.
I love how it shows in the original civ that Stalin is "aggressive" and "militaristic" with a threat level of 5 and then right next to it America is "friendly" and "civilized" with a 1 threat level. It's just so cool to see how real propaganda and patriotism was at the time.
I remember the episode of Celebrity Deathmatch where Gandhi was set to fight Genghis Kahn, but a bug in the time machine (or whatever) caused their personalities to be swapped, making Gandhi (again) a homicidal maniac. Leads me to wonder if they were inspired by the Civ bug.
Oh u better remember the the quote of Einstein said for gandhi , " generations to come it may well be will scarce believe that such a man as this one ever in flesh and blood ever walked on earth." Next thing I know he bombed me into the stone age. At the same time he bombed the country I was fighting immediately after for having started the war between us.
You know. I love when a game dev has a sense of humor and take a 'bug' into the game itself. And the Fallout connection. What if Gandhi in Fallout Universe. He threatened to use Nukes to win freedom for his people from the Great British Empire? XD It is a strong possibility now.
Technically he did... just. Gandhi died in January 1948, nearly two years after Churchill made his famous Iron Curtain speech. According to Google the Cold War lasted from 1947 to 1991.
