The best thing about this is that the quote "I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds" is used in Hindi mythology from Vishnu. Which in retrospect, foreshadowed Nuclear Ghandi.
Vishnu knew that Gandhi would be a form of Kali, which resulted in this line

That last nuke got me to realizing that civil wars in civ would be a really interesting late-game curveball. Not like "one city revolts" civil wars so much as "half your army decides it doesn't like you anymore and starts taking your cities with them" civil wars.
I know I'm a year late to this, but in the dramatic ages mode that can kind of happen because of the massive loyalty dip you can get if you enter a dark age. But a full scale civil war would that's a regular feature would be really cool.
@@snozer6966 But free cities aren't a separate faction of your own civ, so it's not quite the same. It would he cool if it happened because of something horrible you did (like nuking a city unprovoked as a surprise declaration of war with a former ally), instead of because of entering a dark age.
@@shadow_of_thoth oh I know it’s not the same, but it kind of happens ya know? I do think your idea is really cool though, I always thought in general there should be more consequences for dropping nukes or calling a surprise war within your own Civilization. Hell maybe your population could respond differently depending on the government you chose. Like if you chose a fascist government you wouldn’t have as many war penalties but if you went with a democracy you’d face serious repercussions.
There was something like that in Civ 2 if I remember. If your capital got taken, your country could split in two.

fun fact, Osaka was the primary for the second nuke in WW2, the back up site was Nagasaki, but when the pilots flew over Osaka it was too obscured by cloud cover to get good sight on target, Nagasaki was a beautiful clear sky day

When I clickeed on this video, I thought that the title, and challenge was due to the Oppenheimer movie but then I saw how long ago this video was made. Potato just knows the quote, and has been using it a lot longer than everyone else. Imagine if this video came out 2023.

Hey thanks for making videos like this. Just got back into civ and based on your video I was able to get a full complex going and a mini complex going in my last game. Granted, I wasn't playing deity, just King as Japan - but it helped me get insane production, secure lots of wonders, and get tons of space ports for a super quick science victory at the end. Felt broken having that much production with 950 science at turn 350 when I won. Would have been a lot sooner but i couldn't get any good science spots until after the complex was done.
this is the most peaceful game of civ i've ever seen, until the nukes of course
