I cannot find the words for the anger I feel that someone would walk into a building filled with peaceful prayer and open fire...that act was against EVERYTHING I was taught both by faith and country. My children know of the Islamic graves in Arlington.. And know that under those Crescents lie not only Muslims... But American heros...
They can't bring their friends back so they honor them with their life, spirit, and vitality. In the US we don't show this respect to children that could be us or children that could be ours. We only value ourselves and our family. I envy them.
When I see the Haka, it inspires me to directly challenge the painful, invisible illness I have. It encourages me to engage in battle with it, refusing to let it defeat me. It is a savage and beautiful display of raw courage and a direct challenge to all we face. It's courage that we ALL need to get through each challenging day.

From what I can understand, this Haka is the visual, emotional and vocal chant of a warrior, both leading and rising up his warriors into a confrontation and a determined way to intimidate their opponents. It boosts morale, yet it provides comfort in knowing those who chant alongside you, are your brethren and will have your back to the end. Many tribes around the world had these same tribal rituals, from North and South American tribes, Pacific Islanders and even our Caribbean Taínos, all defeated by colonialists, but not forgotten. The Haka is still strong and celebrated and admired by the entire world and should NEVER be surrendered to those who wish to silence them. We stand with you.
I'm a total stranger to this tradition. It looked aggressive to me at first but I don't know why tears came out of my eyes after watching the video for few seconds.

I'm an American, white, and a Christian... What happened in New Zealand was...

@@Monteverde81 not really. Muslims have adopted numerous pegan traditions just like Christians. Look as sufi dances.
They can't bring their friends back so they honor them with their life, spirit, and vitality. In the US we don't show this respect to children that could be us or children that could be ours. We only value ourselves and our family. I envy them.
I don't know you people but i respect you greetings from Morocco
When I see the Haka, it inspires me to directly challenge the painful, invisible illness I have. It encourages me to engage in battle with it, refusing to let it defeat me. It is a savage and beautiful display of raw courage and a direct challenge to all we face. It's courage that we ALL need to get through each challenging day.

I’m a Christian from America and my heart hurt at the senseless cruelty of this act when it hit the news. Watching this video is yet another example of the true humanity that exists behind the mask of hatred and vindictive politics. To the youth of Christchurch who reached across cultural lines to offer comfort, honor and respect to those affected, I can only say may God richly bless you. To those injured, or who lost loved ones in the attack, may you find peace and know that your community loves you, and others around the world love and pray for you as well.
Aroha ❤️ from New Zealand. That's so kind.

This comment section is filled with so many ignorant f**ks who have no idea what’s going on here!! If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say it at all! This was such a heartbreaking time and these students, STUDENTS, poured their hearts, souls and spirit into expressing their grief in the way Māori do - by Haka. I don't understand a word of the Maori language but in many ways, I don't need to because the power of the message is perfectly clear. I'm in tears every time I see The Haka performed. It brings out emotions in me I can't understand or explain but they're all strong and positive. I imagine the spirits they worship and the love for all those who have gone before them and their traditions still flows through their veins. Wow.
It's one of those things where I know nothing about what is going on but ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING at tje same time. Truly spectacular and speaks to parts of humans that many have forgotten or don't want to acknowledge. These guys make you feel it!
We call it Wairua. The "living soul" that connects us spiritually to our ancestors and the four elements of nature. I'm glad many people have felt it, because not everyone does. I feel sorry for them 😢
Aw man, when you spot the ones who know this by heart & channel the meaning...just chills & tears! Being native american, I feel this within my heart!
So moving to see the unbeatable, undefeatable, everlasting Mana rise through these amazing young people. Full respect. It moved me to tears.

Wow... THAT is how to mourn... embrace every emotion and ounce of humanity and passion available to you at once... I stand in awe.
I've came back to these beautiful students time and time again when I have needed help. Thank you
Just want to say that first off, what happened at Christchurch was horrible & to this day it resonates in my heart & mind. I’m Puerto Rican & very entrenched in my culture & I must say that I find the Haka & other Polynesian dances/war cries to be some of the most beautiful, awe inspiring shows of culture & from one Islander to another, I respect & admire it so much. Thank you for sharing your beautiful culture with us & I for one, absolutely cherish & hold it dear to my heart. I literally cried watching this, seeing the courage, compassion, pride, honor & love on display, thank you so much.

A powerful display of respect for humanity in time of great sorrow, especially coming from youth.
As a Muslim I am truly grateful to these kids showing what we, the adults, sometimes lack. That is, humanity and solidarity in our humanity. The prophet Mohammad (peace and blessings be upon him) once said, humanity is like a body, when one part of it aches, the whole body aches. These kids’ behaviour is a perfect illustration of this principle in action. May God bless, guide, forgive and protect you and your families. Amen.
Okay but don’t force them to wear hijab and enforce Sharia law on them.

Mexican culture is the 'borrowed' Spanish European culture.. you lost the Aztec culture hundreds of years ago.
Such a powerful call to stand up against injustice.

I'm American.
When I was younger, everyone open carried.
We had trucks in our high-school parking lot with gun racks and rifles.
Having a concealed gun was part of your outfit for the day, especially when you had on your Sunday's best.
You know what we didn't have back then? Mass shootings.
What ever is causing these mass shootings, it's not because of access of guns. When America had more guns, we had the least number of mass shootings.
Now as access to guns is decreasing, it seems we are having more mass shootings.
And it's not just guns... mass killings using fire, vehicles and pressure cookers are all on the rise. Something has gone wrong with our civilization as a whole.
His name is Brenton Harrison Tarrant. This week Muslim Arab killed two Jews in Israel. Did anybody blinked at CBC? They did not even mention it. Why they are so selective?
