I had to get rid of loads of clothes as I put belly fat on. I was depressed.I learnt the science of insulin and cortisol as you describe. I did cut carbs right down and no sugary foods. High protein diet I also eat good fats avocados etc rather than carbs . I took up body pump (weights class FAB !) body combat boxing classes and HIIT training. At 57 I’m fitter than I was at 20 and my body is toned . So menopause gave me the prod I needed I couldn’t believe in late 50s I could have a body I wanted in my 20s but you are right you need to eat well but differently. Pump and HIIT are fab . Also if you do pump you get boobs from chest presses. My mood is better than when I was young. Your videos are great I recommend them to anyone going through the menopause.
@jo hart thank you for your lovely comment I suffer from CFS and have become peri menopausal symptoms these last two weeks. I used to be very fit and active but due to the CFS this has all came to a stop. But I've begun doing gentle stretching and floor exercises once or twice a week. Again, being careful not to overdo it causing me to crash. I used to love boxercise so am starting to watch some TH-cam workouts on this and work out what exercises I could begin with X
I just love seeing what you are talking about each week, and what beautiful scarf you are wearing. It matches your bracelet this week, neat! How in the world do you keep your tummy slim? I am just barely into menopause, almost at 1 1/2 yrs and my lower tummy is...puffy. I miss having a slimmer tummy. I watch my portions, and I am gluten, dairy and sugar free (for 20 years), but it's just not going away. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Thank you so much for your lovely comments! It's a lot of hard work! I tend to have a low carb diet too but I find the only way for me is regular exercise (I do HIIT twice a week) and yoga! Best Wishes Eileen
I was looking forward to this week vlog and like always you never disapoint....am learning and understanding so much more about the menopause than i have ever been before so its no longer a scary taboo to me am learning to embrace all the not so pleasant symtoms of menopause...knowledge is power ...Thank you Eileen for these much needed advice and tips i am forever grateful🙏
Excellent video Eileen thanks 💌💌💌 Sorry Eileen... I should have added please if you could also do a talk on vaginal changes too!!! It doesn't look the same down there anymore 🤭 & it's a topic not many talk about...
Hi Hassina I have posted several blogs on vaginal issues so please do take a look. However, I've not talked about physical appearance changing so thank you for the suggestion; I'll add it to my list! Best Wishes Eileen

I had twins at 40 and went into peri menopause at 42. I am so stressed and tired. I have a lot of menopause symptoms. I had to get HRT. I have sore joints and major fatigue and my hair and skin have thinned etc. I am 46 now and just surviving. I want this to end
Hi Shazita If you feel that your HRT isn't really helping your symptoms, it is really important to get back to your doctor. There are different forms of HRT and they may be able to adjust your dose or offer you a more effective alternative Best Wishes Eileen
I went from a size 8 up to a 16 over 3-4 years I was suffering really bad mental health an it was hard for me to get out the house . I have lost 4 stone in 18 months . But I keep goin up 10lb then loose it again . Am a 12 now but would like another 1 stone off but am not worried to much I feel I need to take care of myself an not worry about my weight x
I am one year post kenopause.but started perimenenause at age 39.i will be 49 next month.i still have insomnia, hot flushes ,musle pain and brain fog.my brain still can't focus.here in my country we don't get hrt.omg and dry vagina haha.i also noticed that i need more protein.and my workout are short and intense with my kettlebell.i also love swimming and i am taking belly dance classes.
Sorry to hear that your still struggling Cindy. Can you get herbal remedies where you are? If so you may find soya extract supplements or Black Cohosh helpful. Good to hear that you are looking after yourself well as this does help in the long run! Best Wishes Eileen
Hi thanks for excellent video..I m 47 yr old struggling with calf pain in both legs since last one yr..all test r normal Is this due to perimenopause.?
I had this too. I found it was because I was drinking too much soy milk. Either I was having a reaction to it, or it was really messing with my hormones. I thought soy was good for perimenopause, but not for me.
It took me a little while to figure out where the strange soreness and inflamation was coming from in all my muscles, and especially in my legs and calves. I had recently began drinking soy milk, so I figured I'd stop drinking it and see, and yes, the strange inflammation stopped....Do you take soy or drink it?
Hi Risa I tend not to recommend soya milk as it can be hard to digest and it can cause issues for some women. Usually almond, oat or coconut milk are fine. Best Wishes Eileen
I had a,natural menopause. Checking what workout to follow to build glutes and thigh muscles. The trousers dont look good anymore. With menopause u get so many health issues like i got gastritis so I lost weight. It's tough. Your workout gets limited too.HRT helps.
