    In my experience, doctors do not have a clue about menopause!
    I ended up in the emergency dept a few times from bad panic attacks, thinking I was having a heart attack etc, had to have a barrage of tests, even radiation pumped into me, ALL NORMAL turns out it was peri-menopause!! I lived in hell for around ten years, the menopause made my life, and my families life, hell. Thank goodness I am post menopausal now but still get flushes and pelvic feelings where I feel like I will have a period, but nothing, I guess that will settle too.
    Eileen, I have been following you for years, you have been so very helpful, you're a true Gem. xo

      Hi Kimberly
      This can happen and may be due to an adrenaline rush as your bowels empty. You could try a calming herb such as valerian or Ashwagandha for a few weeks to see if this helps. Dehydration may make it worse too, so remember to drink plenty of plain water every day!

      I don‘t know if this will help, but there is a product called (in USA) Forever Active HA softgels. I get them here in Germany. Eileen has talked about Hyalouronic Acid, which is helpful to the joints. That’s what this supplement mainly is. Also, I noticed a few years ago that it quite improved my skin (less pimples). This particular product also has ginger oil and turmeric. I am taking it, as I think it generally helps in various ways.

      @@alisonrobinson6315I forgot to say they are not cheap, like about 28,- Euros and it takes a little time for you to notice results, but I believe it to be a high quality product that our bodies can absorbe. I don't suffer much from joint pain, but my mother in law notices a difference, and as I mentioned, they helped my bad skin a lot; and now with the menopause, I have decided to keep taking them as I think they may be helping generally with moisture in the body (eyes, mouth, skin) but this is something Eileen may know more about.

    Eileen, I wanted to mention that I think your suggestion of sea buckthorn (called Sanddorn in German) is really helping my bladder infection symptoms and vaginal pain. I‘ve been drinking it mornings and sometimes evenings as a very thick juice (diluted with lots of water). It tastes like sh** (unsweetened as I am taking your advice and trying to cut down on sugars) but I don’t care! It’s not perfect, and sometimes I still get quite severe pain while peeing, but generally I feel it is improved. Also still getting up to pee at night - at least 3 or 4 times and sometimes more. But I also must admit that I do drink at night, as I sometimes don’t manage to drink as much as I’d like during the daytime.

      Sorry to hear that you're still struggling. Some women do get symptoms for a long time but other health issues such as anaemia, vitamin D or B12 deficiency, thyroid imbalance, diabetes and heart disease can all cause symptoms that are identical to menopause ones so it is a good idea to ask your doctor for a full health check just to rule these ones out.

      Hello Lindsay, There are so many different types of HRT on the market now, sometimes it is dependent upon your specific symptoms. As HRT is a prescribed medication it is best to clarify this with your GP and ask for more information. At A Vogel UK we tend to recommend more natural alternatives.

    • @AvogelCoUk

      Hi
      The amounts of magnesium I suggest are usually within the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) which, in the UK, is 320mg for women over 50. You are right in that you have to be careful how much you take, so if more is needed, this should be done under the guidance of a practitioner or doctor.

    • @AvogelCoUk
      @AvogelCoUk  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lilibeth
      Although frequent/prolonged periods are quite common for some women as they approach the menopause they are not good for you and could cause anaemia. This in turn can trigger fatigue, low mood/anxiety, poor sleep and joint aches. It is important to get this checked out by your doctor; they may be able to give you something to stop the bleeding and also check that there are no other issues involved such as fibroids, polyps or a prolapse which may be contributing to the bleeding.

      Yes, this can happen to some women and is usually just due to the way their hormones are changing. However, longer periods are not good for you and can cause low iron so it is a good idea to see your doctor. Eileen, I have noticed I get bad diarrhoea when I feel like the symptoms are ramping up again, over the years I had a couple of accidents, not making it to the loo in time, hormonal shifts definitely affect your digestive system for sure, would you agree? A lot of ladies in a group I am in are having these issues but others are saying no, there is no connection, I say bollocks!

      Yes, the digestion can definitely be affected in and after the menopause. Our digestive tract can get more sensitive to certain foods and can also react more to stress or anxiety.

      A.Vogel UK I have also noticed sluggish digestion - like I feel I have to go big, sometimes for the whole day, but can’t! Nothing comes. Other times the stool is too loose, though I am wondering if this may be due to the sea buckthorn I am drinking, if that could be causing loose stools?

      Hi Jeanette
      I haven't heard of this as a specific menopause symptoms but stress, poor digestion or not eating well could all be triggers. It is a good idea to get this checked out by your doctor first just for a proper diagnosis. Once you know what the cause is it will be easier to treat.

      Hi Jeanette
      I have not heard of these being a specific menopause symptom but the menopause can cause all sorts of skin issues. You may find the Milk Thistle Complex helpful but it is also a good idea to get this checked out by your doctor just in case it is not related to the menopause. www.avogel.co.uk/herbal-remedies/milk-thistle/

      I use evening primrose, sage & cod liver oil capsules Patricia. My friend used black cohosh tablets and took headaches so stopped them. That put me off trying them,but I suppose everybody's different....

      Hi Patricia
      I tend not to recommend EPO but to take a fish oil supplement instead, you often get better benefits from this. Black Cohosh can be helpful if you are experiencing low oestrogen symptoms so worth trying.

    My girlfriend told me that she guessed tha she wasn't quite yet ready for a full time boyfriend. The night before she went off on me (for drinking her water, and its never been an idsue before) out of nowhere Monts before this she told me she was starting to have hot flashes. She has fatigue. She does drink a lot of water, and is on a strict diet. Does this sound like menapause?

      Hi
      Is she around 45-55 and have her periods changed at all? If so, then this does sound as if she may be approaching the perimenopause. Strict diets at this time can sometimes cause malnutrition which can then affect mood and behaviour too!

    • @Brokentofixed
      @Brokentofixed 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AvogelCoUk I did see what I thought was emotional detachment at one time but then she reach back out to me after about 2 months. And now it seems as if we are going through the same thing. She has actually pulled away a couple to three times but then reach back out to me does it still sound like menopause? As I said before she came to me and said she wanted to buy a house with me then all of a sudden a few days later I need to buy my own house! 🙄. When we last talked right there before Christmas I did let her know that I was aware that she was going through changes and that is all I said to her. She doesn't seem to want to be open about what she might be going through so I don't really try to cry about it as I know that this time for a woman or some women can be shameful or embarrassing. I just let her know that I knew she was going through changes and that is all I said to let her know that I am here and support her

    • @Brokentofixed
      @Brokentofixed 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think you replied to me about this before but at one point she told me that I scared her or make her nervous when she thought about something I had told her that took place in my past this came out of the blue and out of nowhere why she thought about it I haven't the slightest idea but she told me when I was on the way to her place to yeah just go ahead and come to her house 10 minutes later she told me that she thought I ought to get a room does this sound like the fear or pending doom that can take place in menopause with the anxious thoughts?

    • @Brokentofixed
      @Brokentofixed 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So do you think when she is through this her emotions will level out and she will be herself? I do know that she will be a better person because of what she doesn't have to deal with anymore but I guess what I'm asking is because she keeps reaching out to me, you Believe she still will when she's through all this? I also know and understand that this is not anything that she is doing herself but it is just a part of life that all women have to go through That is why I'm here for her and very understanding unlike a lot of men out here would be

      Hi Katie
      You could try the Dormeasan to aid sleep; this usually works quite quickly and can be taken for as long as needed. It is important to try and eat regularly if possible to keep your blood sugars stable and to give you the nutrition you need just now. If you find it hard to eat then you may find having a protein powder shake can be of benefit. Your local health shop should have plenty of choice.

      Hi Chandai
      Many women find going on a low carb diet can be helpful in the menopause and making sure not to cut calories too much as this can actually cause weight gain! There are lots of good books on low carb diets on Amazon so please take a look.
