Hello, I have inquired about the MTC intercooler for MINI R53 from a major MINI dealer in the UK. He has told me that they do not sell this intercooler to their clients because it is not decent. They say you have to adapt the clamps and put a sealant so that it does not leak. This is real? Thank you.
That is slightly correct. While I didn’t use a sealant but instead made on bracket shorter. The issue is that the neck of Intercooler seems to be slightly smaller in diameter and when you bottom out the clamp to its fullest... it still isn’t completely tight. So to fix it, you need to get a grinder and make the clamp smaller so the bolt travels more and can tighten more than stock. If that makes sense
@@JSpool1 Thank you very much for your answer but I think I will have to put together a bit to buy an Airtec or GRS, your answer has helped me a lot. I want to put 17% pulley and intercooler, but I am doubting if I also put 380cc or 550cc injectors in case the originals fall short .. what do you think? :D
Hugo Boss unfortunately no. But I have a 17% pulley so it was better to have this than to run stock. I just upgraded to a airtec which I will post a video of that also.
Hans von Geldern worth every penny if running a non stick pulley. When running anything but stock as pulley the air temps climb drastically which will usually make the car pull timing and power. Better to be safe than sorry is what I’d say
Chat Noir well I’m running all 3 already. Everything makes good difference together. But I have upgraded them for other stuff. Have airtec and a M7 intakes now
M9 BEAST the MTC is a very known IC that everyone uses. Aka HOBO ic. Because it’s cheaper than the expensive ass Airtec. It’s suppose to be a copy of it with the exception of it not having the air duct part for the scoop. Which you can chop up your oem plastic one to fit the MTC so it diverts air to the intercooler just like the airtec. FYI
As you say, both ovals are smaller than the ones on the horns, nightmare to seal, also the lugs break off as only tacked on. Bottom of the barrel cooler...
How do you know If you have the boost leak or not? Do check engine light lights on when you know it has boost leak? I installed mine and CEL not on
Are you referring to the boots leaking? I have a boost gauge. Your boost levels should be almost on par to whatever pulley you’re running.
@JSpool1 I have 15% pulley colder spark plugs but don't have the boost gauge yet and I don't know if I have boost leak

@@JSpool1 perfect thanks! 😁👍
have you measured the intake temperatures?

The battery in your smoke alarm needs replacing. That's what that beeping is in the background. :)
So, does it worth?

Do a comparison on all three chingaderas cause I'm considering the MTC for now thnx👍👍

Chat Noir did u get the MTC??? If so what are your thoughts??? If not which one did you get???
Edit: I’m considering this and the Airtec IC

I dont think ill add power, what it does is to cool your engine faster better
Denser cooler air makes more power
