- John Paul at RimmerBros explains how to fit the Softride suspension kit that RimmerBros has had re-manufactured.
Originally offered as an option on UK cars towards the end of production, these were factory fit on later MG Motor models and specifically designed to improve the ride quality without adversely affecting the handling of the vehicle.
Installation of this kit results in a more supple drive, eliminating the undesirable harsh suspension characteristics of the standard suspension whilst maintaining that sports car feel. Ideal for those owners who do not use their vehicles on a race track every day!
Rimmer Bros has invested heavily to bring these OEM kits back into the market and has had them manufactured exclusively at a price that offers exceptional value for money.
Why not compliment this kit by fitting a polyurethane suspension bush kit too! See part number RP1048TF or RP1048TFPB.
Can be fitted to all MGTF models manufactured by either MG Rover or MG Motor.
Rimmer Bros also recommend you replace the following items as a matter of course:
RNF100090 x 8 (insulator rubbers)
RYG000400 x 4 (lower damper bolt)
NY210041 x x 4 (top nut)

Couple of additional tips,if you use an impact gun to remove the top nuts then the shocks are scrap,similarly do not use a impact gun for re-fitting any bolts. The lower bolts should always be replaced and the M12 thread should be cleaned out with a tap so the bolt can be screwed in by hand ,again don't be tempted to use a impact gun for any re-assembly work. Make sure the recess in the top arm is clean to ensure a snug fit of the lower shock bearing.
Just had mine done with your kit John, revelation, still firm, but much safer at speed, and my back and spine are no longer in traction. I think they are a must for the older cars, they just seem to firm up with age more, even though everything like shock and springs are still look ok.

I need to investigate a new "Clunk" that I think is coming from my LE500's rear offside suspension, and it is interesting to see in this video that with all the weight off a wheel that removing a shock and suspension unit doesn't require spring compressors (yes I'm new but learning). I also think the ball joint on top of the same corner hub has split and lost its grease so that's another thing.

Hello, is there a similar kit for the 1996 MG F VVC? Hydragas to cancel the suspension and convert it to a classic spring. Can you provide a link if you have such a product in stock?
