    Thanks very much for this invaluable video! I have watched (and helped) while a local garage did the pumping up a couple of times, but now have my own hand-held pump - I hope it's going to work!

    I got to buy one of thease liguid levers pumps for my project car need to find the right fluid for the job.
    My main worry is my mg has been sat on its bumpstops for around 12 years are there any potential risks in trying to lift it now?

    Thanks for the video. However, I cannot clearly see the measurement between the center of the wheel hub and the start of the fender.
    Would you please indicate it to me in centimeters?
    Owned a 2000 MG F
    Thank you

    You should be rolling and jouncing the suspension before taking measurements. Ideally you should roll and jounce then press down on the suspension and take a measurement. Repeat, but this time lift the vehicle up by hand and take another measurement. Now add the two measurements together and divide by two. This will give you the average.

      There is now a kit available, consisting of shock absorbers and progressive springs. But, it's very expensive. I recently found a couple on ebay for between 999 and 1200 Pounds Sterling which, in my view, is quite a bit, considering that shock absorbers are parts subject to wear and eventual replacement.
      Theoritically, the best solution, in my view, would to somehow adapt the pump, fluid reservoir and level regulator from a Citroen onto older MGFs. Anyone designing a kit of this sort could then justify a high price for a system which should deliver dependable service for the entire life of the car. The ride would be comfortable and the handling simultaneously sporty

      The front and rear spheres on each side are connected by pipework, so there are only the two valves shown, one per side.

    Thank you for the tutorial video. I have just tried pumping up my Allegro using a pump very similar to that one but there was no resistance when pumping the lever up and down and no fluid was pumped into the car. I thought the pump was faulty. However, watching this video it seems the valve on the pump has to be open while you are pumping? Perhaps that's why I had no resistance? I had the valve closed on the pump to prevent all the fluid from the car leaking into the pump reservoir. The pressure on the gauge showed 250psi. Did I do it wrong? Should I have opened the valve before I tried pumping?
    Thanks, Martin

    • @RimmerBrosTV
      @RimmerBrosTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@nickyjames8550 If the membrane between the gas and hydrolastic fluid is intact, then all you are doing is replacing the fluid. If the membrane is damaged or perished, then you need either a second hand sphere or to send it to a company that refurbishes them.
