The visuals aged poorly, but BTN left the biggest footprint. The villagers are iconic, the music can't be topped. It hit the right balance of witty, melancholy, and challenging.
BTN and A Wonderful Life are the best IMO. But IMO tree of tranquility wasn't bad.

I played both HM Friends of Mineral town and HM DS. And I love both games.
Nothing will ever beat A Wonderful Life and Another Wonderful Life. Those two are the best, hands down. I am enjoying Story of Seasons and Harvest Moon Light of Hope though.

its not the new and official Harvest Moon, its the originally created game, some people stole the name and made it their own, Story of Seasons it the original makes of the game and changed it to be theirs again.....sometimes i see a Harvest Moon game and buy it and hate my life cause the game sucks
Harvest Moon is a *Game Title* that Natsume copyrighted when they brought *Bokujo Monogatari* (Farm Story/Legend/Tale) over to the western market. The creator was always Marvelous, and when they got their own localizing firm (XSeed), they decided to not longer use Natsume to bring the games to the western market. But since Natsume has the right to the name Harvest Moon, the games were now released under the label of Story of Seasons, and Natsume made their *own* farming simulator game, still using the Harvest Moon name. Basically, this is a long way of saying that this video is just plain wrong.

Popular opinion: I also adore the rune factory series.
Tales of Two Towns is one of my favorites. Who hates it? It's great!
I liked Twin Villages! Definitely had some mechanics that I wish it didn't have (either expansion or tunnel quest once a month), but it was really fun. Loved the clothes it had!
And Rune Factory is fun. I think my favorite is Oceans/Tides of Destiny. Rune Factory 4 was really fun, and definitely had good parts, and did make a nice circle... but I don't like the plot's pacing, I don't like how they mostly reuse previous RF games' tracks (I love them, don't get me wrong, but it's disappointing), and I absolutely HATED the RNG-factor when it comes to events.
I have tales of two towns, I liked it, thought it was ok, but it wasn't one of my favorites, I loved the GBA harvest moon and many others over it, but it was still unique and special in its way xD

It's sad that the best graphics for the series were in 2006 and 2008 for Tree of Tranquility and Animal Parade. And that the graphics have only regressed since.
agreed. i played BTN and AWLSE and one of the reasons was because i upgraded to PS2 back then. i read the wiki about how there are actually a total of 8 bachelorettes in FoMT, an older one, compared to 5 in BTN, the newer one. the gameplay & features went back & forth so much it's actually easier to judge by the graphics. and that is kinda sad indeed.
It's honestly insane, especially when comparing them one after another like this. I'd argue my favorite art/style/game mechanics wise would have to be rune factory 4, but definitely everything else has just been absolutely subpar. Especially in the direct harvest moon (story of seasons?) line. (This is also coming from someone who has only ever played RF4, so take what I say with a grain of salt lol)

A Wonderful Life was also on Gamecube!!! I had it and I LOVED it as a kid. Along with the original animal crossing on GameCube, that shit took up half my friggin childhood omg
I played these as an adult. I still have my old systems and games and I still play these games often. Animal Crossing for GameCube is still my favorite of all of them.

Tale of two towns is my absolute favourite!! It’s absolutely beautiful and there’s so much to do. It’s so relaxing and I love the story too, it’s so enjoyable.

The characters' pictures are just ADORABLE
And it has some of the best bachelors/bachelorettes. Specially Cam, I don't remember having any other bachelor in any of the other games that is as kind, gentle and sensible as him
i thought im the only one. The cooking festival hooked me the most. The farms are also cool designed, not exactly efficient, but aesthetically pleasing.

I first played the PSP one on my cousins PSP, and I don't understand the series at all XD
Several years later when I am older, I decided to play HM:FOMT and fell in love, I'm currently playing the TOTT version and now it's my all time favorite HM game along with RF3
Friends Of Mineral Town and DS were my favorite, with DS looking the best for my preferred style. The classic 2D sprite model with sharp, beautiful character art when interacting with the townsfolk... I honestly can't hang with anything after Sunshine Island. I miss the old Harvest Moon.

Tree of Tranquility and Animal Parade for me will always be where it’s at. Great story. Probably the best characters and marriage candidates from the whole series (is there a bad boy/girl? I think not! I have such trouble marrying 😂)
Not to forget the animals! I’m a big rancher focus, so AP was definitely something I enjoyed. Plus it’s just so beautiful. And more challenging than Stardew Valley 😶
Animal parade is my all time favorite. I fell in love with it as a kid and is still one of my all time favorites. Only thing I've found that's come close to it is My Time at Portia. You should give it a try!

This series underwent a lot of experimentation, adding and removing aspects of the game all the time, as well as changing the art style between 2D and 3D back and forth. Oddly enough, the original SNES Harvest Moon was one of the most well balanced and had gotten most of the key concepts right.

PSA:story of seasons is made by the original creators of harvest moon. Any new games they're making is under the story of seasons title. They switched western distributors but natsume still owns the harvest moon name so it cashes in on it but any new harvest moon game is not actually made by the company that made harvest moon (and frankly they actually suck, so if you're looking for harvest moon games that are recently made, look for story of seasons instead.) ANY HARVEST MOON GAME MADE RECENTLY ISNT BY THE ORIGINAL CREATORS!! THE SERIES NOW GOES UNDER STORY OF SEASONS. THE RECENT GAMES WITH THE HARVEST MOON TITLE ARE NOT VERY GOOD BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT MADE BY THE ORIGINAL CREATORS. DO NOT BUY THEM IF YOU WANT A REAL HARVEST MOON GAME. It definitely looks like it and since I've heard positive things about it I'd say its safe to assume its not natsume considering all the harvest moon games released after the switch under the harvest moon trademark rather than story of seasons have been deemed pretty awful..the creator of the original harvest moon if I'm correct is marvelous entertainment and their new distributor is Xseed if I'm not wrong

There are legit SO many things i want to add to that game (i.e swimming, jumping, bigger family, more interesting cutscenes, maybe your own boat (obviously a small one), the ability to stay overnight at sundae inn after completing the tutorial, backstory to the main character, a way to make that minecart by ganache mine work, etc.) yeah there’s more where that came from. Basically i want them to just copy the whole game’s code, and add newer features to it.

I'd have to say that my favorite Harvest Moon games were: Tree of Tranquilty and DS. Each one had so little flaws. The first Harvest Moon game I played was the original Harvest Moon. My brother and I bought it off the Wii eShop. That game caused me to become obsessed with the Harvest Moon franchise! :)

Save the Homeland wasn't the best, but it did hold some charm, and it's 4th of my list of favorites of the Franchise. For me my favs being #1 Harvest Moon 64, #2 Harvest Moon BTN, #3 Harvest Moon Hero of Leaf Valley #4 Harvest Moon Save the Homeland. Even though Hero of Leaf Valley was a "Remake" of save the homeland it's definitely a vast improvement, more so than Friends of Mineral Town when compared to Back to Nature. So much so I think it deserves being viewed as a stand alone rather than a remake.

I grow up playing BTN and MFOMT. Also several titles from ps2, nds and all from 3ds. Dont understand why so many fanatic fans of BTN/FOMT. I personally think Trio of Towns is currently the best one.
In term of story, Innocent Life wins though. The bad ending is just so dark and the good ending broke my heart

3D style just doesn't fit harvest moon.
For me it does. I prefer a wonderful life, another wonderful life and saving the homeland. But the More Friends in Minerval Town was alright.
I think they just do a stupid job with the models for the most part. I love another wonderful life for it's animal models tho they looked so nice

FoMT still my favorite. Still coming back to it sometime, it's so light hearted and easy to play. Recent SoS/HM mechanics feels too overwhelming and stressful for me lol

K I am not a big fan of harvest moon but I play Friends of mineral town,and it's GREAT.
Still have a super nes with the original harvest moon, literally older than I am, back in the day I remember grinding the hell outta that. IMO that will always be the best.

Tale of two towns and rune factory 3 have always been my favourites! I grew up playing them and spent most of my early teens building up a life in them 😊
First off: why is there My time at Portia on the thumbnail?
Second off: Harvest Moon continued as Story of Seasons. Bokujō Monogatari is the original title. The title got changed for us to Harvest Moon. And later on to Story of Seasoms because it isnt published by Natsume anymore but they do own the name. So basicly the new 'Harvest Moon' games by Natsume has like nothing to do with Bokujō Monogatari anymore. Thats Story of Seasons now.
So I enjoy the video but, Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life, and Another Wonderful Life were originally for game cube :) dont forget next time. BTW they are the best other than n64s original.

I have some HM Games. Gameboy Color, Gamecube, ps1, ps2, DS & 3DS and still Play Harvest Moon DS and love it! Old but Gold. Miss the old Ones. Loved back 2 nature 😭
A new beginning was my first harvest moon, (Didnt Play it much because I got story of seasons (the first one) a few months later, I was thinking of going back into it.
I grow up with harvest moon. Btw the real harvest moon is now called story of season.

Magical melody is my favorite, I grew up on it but a few older ones are pretty good too.
I think the later versions of harvest moon ruined my childhood a lot. Nasume should just make the classic harvest moon available in Digital HD TV but do not change anything else. Would be nice if I could play Back to nature in a widescreen TV instead of square.
I wish they'd just make a new version of harvest moon 64. That was my favorite :) all this new harvest moon 2018 looks strange.
That’s because the new harvest moon games aren’t real harvest moon games. Marvelous, the Japanese company that produced the games, used Natsume to sell in the western market. It is Natsume that owns the rights to the name “harvest moon”. So when Marvelous switched to an in house western distributor (I think it’s called xSeed) they could no longer use the name “harvest moon”. If you’re looking for the true harvest moon games you should play any of the story of seasons games. They’re really good.
That’s bring back the memories! Back to Nature on PS1 was really addictive!
