    Everyone had different opinions, but for me I totally loved the contrast of the white and then the colors. Thank you. And for people who may not like the music on these diy projects then just lower the volume. I am grateful that some one took there precious time to show the rest of the world something creative to do. Thank you so much! My niece loves art and she likes nail polish and I like mugs, we now have a great way to spend a fun time. God bless you so much for sharing!

    This was interesting. Tip....use a balloon and blow it up, inside the cup and hold it closed. Then dip your vessel into your colors. The inflated balloon will hold the cup tight and allow you to immerse straight in.

    The water bubbles are because you have 2 layers of polish. When you dip something use a Q-tip to clear away the left over polish all around it BEFORE you lift it out of the water. ( I used to do this on nails often.) Use the smallest water container to fit your project. Time not on your side so have all bottles open and ready to go. Also use distilled or bottle water for better adhesion.

    I see others have addressed the foodsafe issue. This is such a great idea and I was super excited to see you’d dipped on an angle, which wasn’t going to require Mod Podge over the “sipping” area. These are darling and I think able to be modified to address foodsafe concerns. Thanks for sharing!!

    For some reason I am always appalled at the negative, hurtful comments that can't come from anywhere but a very angry, spiteful, mean spirited person. A lot of people who do these videos are learning as well as being nice enough to take their time to make a video for the benefit of other people. Why some people find it necessary to spend their time watching a free video, that was neither forced or a requirement, and then to find it necessary to deliberately try to tear the person down, I will just never understand. I just don't get mean people. There is something broken in you that causes you to be so angry that you have to lash out at someone who has not harmed you in any way. Please look inside your self and find what or who it is that you are so angry about and get that sorted out. It doesn't profit you at all to try to hurt someone else, as a matter of fact it causes you more problems and harms the person you are directing your negative, uncalled for comments toward . Just in case your mama never told you -" if you can't say something nice, don't say anything". Believe me, you would be a much better person and you might find other people might like you better.

      @@Maplesinvests ahhh, thank you, but you are actually very kind and respectful. It was so sweet of you to make this video. It actually makes me angry that people can be so cruel and mean for absolutely no reason. Every place I saw that someone who did give you a suggestion(in a nice. Appropriate way), you responded in a very respectful way with a very humble attitude. That, sweet lady, made me have a lot of respect for you...And I guess my "alligator mama" side comes out when people are mean for no reason. I'm an ol grandma but even when I was in school, I would take up for someone that was being bullied. I still cannot stand it!

      @@ameredith9536 Epoxy resin is thick liquid that comes in two bottles, one the resin, the other is the hardener. You mix together for your clear coating projects. I tore down an old kitchen table I'd had for years, turned it into a bathroom sink stand with shelving underneath. The top, I put down sticky tiles, put an edge around the top, then filled in with epoxy resin. I have read all the comments on this page and I'm astounded at the rudeness of some of these people who have wrote comments.
    This lovely lady has bothered to come on here to try out a project and share it with others.
    Yet what does she get, people saying it's trash and sloppy, insults about her voice and the music in the background, and people saying her video is boring ect, ect.
    Firstly why did you watch the video if it bored you, that doesn't make any sense to me at all.
    As for all the rudeness and pettiness, well I think some people need to get a life and seriously have a think about why they feel the need to be so nasty to others for no reason.
    This lovely lady chose to let us watch her do a fun project which I thought was great and something I'd like to try myself.
    Mostly she got lots of great tips and tricks on how to maybe improve the craft the next time she did it.
    Yet there's always a few in the crowd that like to act like kids and pull people down and be nasty.
    Why don't you just stop watching if you don't like the video? No one was forcing you to watch it , and it certainly wasn't something you needed to make derogatory comments about.
    If you haven't got anything nice to say, or good suggestions to offer then just don't say anything .
    There is nothing about this video that would cause offense to you or anyone, so instead of writing nasty comments, go away and put some effort into thinking why you are acting this way, and sort yourself out, and do us all a favour and go away, and come back when you've grown up...

    Take a broomstick handle and cut it to where it's about 12 in Long and take a 6 inch piece of noodle from a pool and Slide the broomstick in the hole and glue it in place. Then you can take the noodle and stick it into the coffee mug which will hold it from the inside and then you can dip the coffee cup without even touching the coffee cup

      Try it with an acrylic finish. Clear top coat that you use to seal your nails with after a good manicure. Trust me, Modpodge will not make you happy in the long run. It reacts to heat and moisture. It's just like school using school glue it will turn milky white once hot water gets on it.. A hot cup of coffee will leave rings on what ever you set it on. The heat melts it and it will stick to stuff you sit it on. Again it's like Elmer's Glue. It dries clear but reverts back to gummy glue once it's wet for a few minutes.

      Yes I've hydro dipped with spray paints and acrylics. You just have to put a little in a cup and cut with an equal amount of water so it doesn't sink to the bottom. (only the acrylic has to be diluted not the spray paint). Dollar stores have little mini Solo cups that are great for mixing each color with water before pouring each in

    • @Maplesinvests

      The excess nailpolish usually sticks to the bag itself. I pick the whole bag up and usually put a pin in it so the water drains slowly out so I can catch as much nailpolish as possible in the bag. I usually do this in my backyard over this area of rocks I have so it doesn't go down the sink. It ends up mostly in the plastic bag and whatever happens to be in the water ends up on my rocks in the backyard. I don't know if this helps but that's how I do it 😊 Happy crafting 🥰

And don't put it in the dishwasher if you don't seal it. You could test it out. Maybe buy a cup from the dollar tree or goodwill and see what happens. • @Maplesinvests

      You can use a toothpick and kind of scoop it out. The nailpolish sticks really well when you do that. Or you can just lift the whole plastic bag out of the bowl and poke a small hole in it. The water will run out and the nailpolish sticks to the bag and then you can just throw it out and use a different grocery bag. Honestly the toothpick method works better but I'm just giving you options.

      I'm just going to cut and past my comment over again for you. This is what I shared with everyone in a comment. It answers you question. Your second one got messed up because you skipped a step. You forgot to swirl it with your toothpick, and you ended up with air bubbles between the polish layers. In stead of using ModPodge to finish coat it, buy a can of Clear, [or a Clear acrylic sealer] Lacquer/or top coat clear nail polish allow it to dry thoroughly. If you decide to spray it, do it with the opening of your cup, face down. Just a warning, ModPodge on a drinking vessel will get ruined in a dish washer, if you use just ModPodge as your finish, that is. The Heat and water combined, will turn white and milky and stick on anything you set it on. Even if it's the least bit wet. Coffee cup coating? Your putting hot beverage's in, the cup will make a ModPodge ring on what ever you set it down on. Heat melts the ModPodge. Trust me on these tid-bit of information. I did an art project on my old office desk. Yes, it turned out beautiful, until I sat a cup of hot coffee down on it. It cooked a ring right into the finish. I was sewing on another occasion, and this quilt had to be press on one little corner. I put a towel on the corner of the desktop, and once it was pressed, I ended up with towel cotton loops, stuck to my desk top. So... it can't hold up to the heat, at all. I hope I may have been help to you? I do a good bit of craft projects, and have had to learned my lessons the hard way. Trial, and error, can get pretty expensive.

Us women don't have very good patience when it comes to waiting for our nails to dry, but it actually is really crappy when trying to do this and/or rocks.

    Tip to faster drying stuff rather than mod podge... Would clear coat spray work or is that not safe... Help? Tips??

    • @Maplesinvests
      @Maplesinvests  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Clear coat does work but I dont recommend putting it on areas that you drink from. If you are going to do that just paint the bottom portion of the cup instead of the whole thing. The spray still take 24 hours to cure but that's definitely faster than 28 days 🤣

    I did a test with the dishwasher test make sure you put it on the top rack. I always hand wash mine but if it was put in the dishwasher I know it's safe.

    • @Maplesinvests
      @Maplesinvests  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes its permanent. I would hand wash and not dishwash just to insure the design doesn't chip off. It doesn't taste like nail polish. It does smell for a week or two right after but you are supposed to let it cure for 28 days so by then it doesn't smell anymore.

    When you dip the cup try spinning it as it goes under the water. That makes a cool design also. Instead of just dipping the cup straight down as you're dipping it in the water spin the cup around in circles

    28 days for modge podge to cure!? Is there anything quicker i can use please? X

    • @Maplesinvests
      @Maplesinvests  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe that someone had said a mixture of all purpose glue and water or something like that works like mod podge does. Maybe Google substitutes for mod podge. Or go to your local craft store and ask if they carry anything that seals faster than 28 days. I'm not sure. I hope this helps.

I put a towel on the corner of the desktop, and once it was pressed, I ended up with towel cotton loops stuck to my desk top. So... it can't hold up to the heat, at all. I hope I may have been help to you? I do a good bit of craft projects, and have had to learned my lessons the hard way. Trial, and error, can get pretty expensive.

    Oh no! I was on edge the whole time watching this! Its suppose to expand! YOU WANT IT TO EXPAND!!! Clean the polish out before you redip!!!!!!!! One of the most important steps. Otherwise the first layer rolls up on the second and creates clumps. You want to use brand new polish. "Old" polish wont expand as much and you wont be able to create your design with the toothpick. Use distilled water...it just works better. I used to do this to my nails. This mess will have you crying! You also took too long to dip. This method is fast setting. You have like 5-15seconds to drop and dip...Anything longer results in disaster. JS. When you start to drop your polish, drop it directly over each other. It will expand as you do this. Once you have your circle the size you want, then take the toothpick and create your design. Again...like 5-15seconds...seriously. If you wait...it will ruin. I used to line my fingers with Elmers Glue(White glue) so it wouldnt stick. I wonder if that will work with the cups. This concept on cups is super cool. Never thought about that. Your cups turned out beautifully though.

      The mod podge bottle says non toxic. If your worried maybe use painter's tape and tape off the top inch of the mug so it won't touch someone's lips. I drink from this one and it's fine but it's up to you.
