I am marginally surprised that GLR is reviewing OP Fanfics.
Not as surprised as I was at myself for watching. Not a big fan-fic fan as a rule. That said, I would probably watch a 30 minute video of Liam reading the phone book at this point. He has a mellifluous voice and his takes are never a waste of bandwidth.
Also shouldn’t a female Sanji be called SanJU?
Male Vinsmoke end in -ji (IchiJI, NiJI, SanJI, YonJI, meaning “son”), and ReiJU ends in -ju, “daughter”.
I mean that would imply that all the older brothers become females as well. More like Ichiju
@@islamgaziev1717 technically no, I think it’s possible to have quadruplets comprised of three boys and a girl. “Sanju” can be a girl and still have male siblings.
But if the idea is that everyone is genderflipped (hence Reiju also becomes Reiji) you’d be correct.

Here is a “realistic” fanfic. Todd suddenly appears in Wano in front of Kaido. He then gets thrown into Udon and starves to death the end.
Unless, Todd is only malnourished that eventually gets saved by Kid, Luffy, Law, and Denjiro.

It’s not that they write them out of character, it’s more that they only focus on one aspect about their character and just role with it from there.

every fan has their own fanfic, the difference is, most fans know when it's embarrassingly bad.

As a fanfic writer myself (though not for One Piece), I can confirm that fanfic is its own weird wacky world with a multitude of tropes worthy of a laugh, and I absolutely loved this video. I would love to see more of these from GLR.
However, it does make me a little sad that most fanfic videos very rarely look at good examples. I've read some amazing fanfic by very talented writers that could be dropped into canon seamlessly, and in the case of some shows, I would argue that they surpassed its source material in every way.
Yeah, it's so frustrating that people making fun of things they don't understand is more successful than genuinely exploring it.
Like, I would love to watch a video of GLR reading a good character exploration fic and discussing the things he sees too, where he disagrees with the writer and why.
So, so true. There are some absolute masterpieces out there, comedies and serious dramas alike, but they're unfortunately overcrowded with a lot of rubbish - and for some reason the people who write the worst stuff churn it out like it's an assembly line.

The best one piece fanfiction I've ever read was "No Time To Crank The Sun" by Vikan. You can find it on A03. It was soooooo good. Everyone was really in character. It had great comedy and great drama. I actually cried at times. It's not shippy if that's what you're into but it is very nakama focused.

Hilarious video as always Liam, but I want to encourage you to remember that a lot of the authors of these fics are going to be very young kids. Did you ask their permission before including them in this video? Imagine how devastating it would be if you were 12, wrote a One Piece fanfic you were proud of, and then went onto TH-cam to see your favorite TH-camr roasting the crap out of it. We all know you’re making lighthearted jokes without any malicious intent, but the authors of these fics may not
One of these is from 2012 and was discontinued in 2013. I hope the rest are the same way.
And I think he did a far better job than other videos like this, that I have seen. He points out how much work this is and that there is genuinely good fanfic out there. He even says what he would want to read. (Not like others who say ff is garbage in general, that they would never read it, but still abuse it for content.) I really hope that didn't just fly over the heads of the people that came here just to make fun of others.

@GrandLineReview Since we are dipping into the fanfic side of One Piece, here is an idea for a video and some community participation. Open submissions for One Piece OCs(Original Characters) made by the Grand Fleet and then rated by Liam and presented as a top 10 based on his opinion. Plus a bonus OC made by Liam himself.

her ability about sprouting any body part in any surface (she can also sprout any of her body part at her own body including her sprouted body parts) and the drawback is that all her body parts are linked to her .... so she can feel the sensation on what was inflicted on her body parts
I also thought it would be funny if you had the story where Luffy was given not Conquerer's haki but equally as powerful lovers haki which attracts all the women to fall in love with him but since luffy only thinks of meat it makes awkward situations haha.

Concerning your P.S.: It's a shame youtubers always only show bad ffs. Or smut ones. It gives people not reading ffs the feeling that there are no good ones. But especially in a fandom this big there are some real treasures.
Like we have the whole range of masterfully crafted character exploration to mindbendingly good porn. From fluffy high school alternate universes to bloody underground storys.
I love how fanfiction gives us the opportunity to explore a universe in wich ever way we see fit. How I can be in the mood for something dark or something funny and there is a one piece fanfiction for everything.

Liam, there is a one piece fan fic wiki called Ship of Fools and I think you should check it out because it has a lot of good stories that are fan made (if you haven’t seen it)
tbh There is a pretty fun dounjin where a DBZ fan is transported to the World of DBZ in the body of Yamcha, and he uses his previous knowledge of the series to avoid getting killed like Yamcha does, if someone is capable of doing something like this in OP, it might be a pretty fun read too

I'm genuinely upset that I did not think of something along these lines...
I've come up with a character for one piece. He is a bounty hunter from the time of Roger and ran the bounty guild but after the pirate age started most of his guild became pirates in search of wealth. And he retires... Years later he hears of the worst generation and in boredom of his retirement he chooses to go after them. One his devil fruit is a mythical zoan which allows him to turn into a thunder bird (not the car). Character quirks a family man and is loyal to his (late) wife, has 3 kids but they are now adults and have left, he might be a bird zoan but is scared of heights, to make up for this he has a way he can have static electricity allowing him to walk on water (requires high focus), he is easily distracted, and his wife past away a year before he left.

Hmm have you heard about the wandering pirate samurai, searching for his rnstraned brother bartholomeo meeting a zany band of pirates and all kind of people knowing them. Searching for clues leading to his brother bartolomeo. He has the pin pin fruit and his humor is infamous and said to win enemies and allies over, and he likes playing fun games. What will pirate samurai liam experience along the way.

I know it was (probably) a throwaway joke, but kid Goku in One Piece actually sounds like a really fun time.
And then there are the Robin Doujins, which all always somehow share that one similar tag.
The best one piece fanfic I read so far is "straw hats and the iliad" which takes place before jaya and has the straw hats go to a greek inspired island called ilium which makes sea prism stone......yeah this story was made before wano.

Very glad Liam seemed to pick mostly fun and generally well put together stories here. A lot of videos like these tend to focus on the most rotten of the bunch and really spoils people on the idea of fan writing and gives fanfiction a bad rap

Fan Story: to protect Robin from the Buster Call, Luffy calls upon the voice of all things & calls upon the spirits of Ohara to empower him. Luffy gains the knowledge of Ohara but needed the 2 years time skip to process the knowledge. This makes Luffy the most intelligent humanoid on the planet.

Saw the trap Queen made and Olin waking up on the ship. It was hilarious. I hated seeing Brachiosaurus version of Queen with human skin tone. You don’t see the whole brachio in human flesh but it is enough.

Sir you should do one piece anime episode review too. There are lots of people here who are following anime instead of manga and we can't watch manga chapter review but we need anime episode specifically right now when story is going towards climax as well as animation is rewarding right now too
