John is such a music anorak. You can tell he just loves music history as much as making music. His cultural and music knowledge is encyclopaedic.
I like John Taylor, He's enthusiastic, talented and genuine and in a great band, Duran Duran.
The greatest bass player of my generation.
I could listen to JT talk for hours....he has some fantastic stories from his life in music. Hope he does some more of his live webcam chats at some point. Loved his bass tutorials too. A really great guy.
Thanks GHR for this.
Love the new album. John is definitely a major league bass player. You can tell he was inspired by disco and funk. He can for sure make a gritty bassline.
Duranie since 1983.❤
Duran lifer for 40 years. John seems so easy to talk to. Love him!!!
John is so awesome! My favorite bassist of all time. Love the spooky vibe of Danse Macabre.
OMG, You don't hear A Song From Europe mentioned enough when people are talking about music. I just became an even bigger fan of John Taylor lol. A Song For Europe is one of my all time favorite songs.
Just as interesting as John Taylor/Duran Duran, is the story that John told at the end regarding Roxy Music. I love hearing about the bands that inspired my favorite bands.
New ideas, very creative, musically & visually perfect. Beautifully engineered, quality at it's best, put all this altogether, this is Duran Duran. ❤❤❤
THE BEST BASS PLAYER in absoluty
My mother has had a crush in John Taylor ever since she was born. My mom even got me and her tickets to their concert, but we were on John's side of the stage❤
I was in DC for the world premier of "Danse Macabre" and we were fortunate for this. John is my favorite! I love his love of music and his respect for talent.
🎉🎉🎉JT bass player he's epic brilliant awesome amazing guy just luv to hear him loads on this epic awesome amazing album danse macabre album it's fantastic good luck hope it's a huge massive 💪💪💪 hit album on planet earth 🌎🌍🌎
Love de new album , John is super wise n cool still
John plays bass like lead....he's the lead bass player in the band. The guy is a legend! I like how his accent has softened to where he says some words like an American. ❤
Great interview, I wish it was longer.
John should you ever see this comment, I'm going to tell the story of the time I met you. You had a tour stop just north of Detroit Michigan with The Neuortic Outsiders. Met you after the show and you were so sweet and down to earth. You chatted with my friend and myself, signed our ticket stubs, and took pictures with us. Thank you, it's a memory I treasure.
Kind regards and I wish you (and Duran Duran) continued success! Now, go play that f'n bass! 😊❤
He is a sweetie
Class
I love him soo much.
Interesting interview.
Cool album
Great! Thank you❤
🌠 Good Interview from Both..I'll buy the new album...I'll check out the Roxy music song..I dont know it..not a big Roxy fan..sorry
Seems like a nice guy.
Great interview Mark. Would you be ok if we shared the INXS part on our youtube channel. Of course we send links back to your channel too.
can you say Reportage???
I don't think we're ever going to hear that.
No, I don't either, but I'd love to hear it xxx
They’re apparently working on it with Andy for a release in the next year or so.
This doesn't bode well .. last time DD did a covers album to "fill a gap" EMI, their record company since 1980, didn't release their follow up album, John left, they ended up playing casinos in the U.S with two original members and turned into almost heavy metal band.
Slightly different though. They're in the RnR Hall of Fame now, they do pack a bigger punch now.
Its a Cover-Album (the latest)! Not bad, i like it, but i dont love it.
The "Ghost town" cover is a complete and utter misstep. Hate how "Lonely in your nightmare" turns into Rick James' "Superfreak". I'm amazed that not one of the band or anyone around them had the good sense not to realise what a bad idea it was!
They should've just done Lonely without Superfreak, works in a concert not in an album.
Its an ok album, some songs on there just didn't do it for me though.
Ghost Town should not have been touched really. It didn't work.
The only one I didn't really like was Paint it Black. I think only Mick Jagger can do that anyway. I know what you mean about Lonely. I love that song and it would have been better without superfreak. Overall, I wasn't disappointed though. Confession in the Afterlife I love, not so much the Specials either Bury a friend was good.
I've been a Duranie since I was 12 and I'm now 52. I've adored JT for decades. My favourite Tigger! His passion for music and passion for other musicians, his being my number 1 bass player, adoring Gela and his family. ❤❤❤❤ However, at times his arrogance turns me off completely! I know I'm going to get slated for this and to be quite Frank, I don't care!! I've just watched a number of interviews in a row, and he can just be so off-putting. He spoils his gloriousness lol!! Only human I guess! It just frustrates the fcuk out of me. Come on, be honest! I dare you!!! Xx #abouttobepublicallyhangedduranie40yearJTadorerer. In my defence he has admitted he's arrogant. It just makes me sad xxxxxxxxxx his passion is catching! xxxxxxxxxx
5 minutes and im still alive! 😂
Which part do you mean? Where he says “I always do” in reference to how good he looks in the video? I mean, it’s got to be hard not to be arrogant when women have been literally saying he’s the most beautiful man for 40+ years… or were you referring to something else?
I can’t wait to see John Taylor replaced by A.I. , just like he and his wealthy band mates did in their latest music video instead of hiring real animators, Duran Duran is dead to me.
