    Thank you for providing this video on magnetically latching switches! You have a good explanation of this type of safety switch and your photography and lighting are excellent, so the viewer can really see the basics of wiring such a switch! One item that I think should be explained better is the benefit for a magnetically latching switch.
    Let's say that instead of the magnetically latching switch, you had an ordinary switch on your equipment and the mains power fails or is interrupted. You absent mindedly start to investigate what went wrong without manually turning off the switch. Then, the mains power comes back on while you're looking around and suddenly your machine is back running at full speed. You (or someone nearby) could be badly injured in a second.
    With a magnetically latching switch like you've shown in your video, if the mains power is interrupted for any reason, once the power comes back on your machine won't come back on without turning the magnetically latching switch on again, thus providing a lot of safety.
    The red paddle or big red button is intuitive to slap or tap off in an emergency whether any power switch is latched magnetically or not.

      IU am glad you liked it. Yes, as you explain, when power resumes after a power cut, the switch needs to be turned on again. Thank you for watching

    Thank you for this. Best explanation I have come across for this process yet. I wired one of these switches up on my lathe a while back - didn't know what I was doing, but through trial and error, I eventually got it right. Now after finding your video, I have the confidence to install new magnetic paddle switches on my bandsaw, table saw and router table.

    Thank you so much for this video. Hands down this is the best video on TH-cam explaining how to wire these switches. No other video explains the need to loop over to magnetise the switch. I was failing and you helped me!

    Thank you so much for uploading this video. I accidentally purchased a 5 pin switch instead of a 4 pin for my tablesaw and i have been scratching my head as to how to hook it up.

    Well, Thank You! Nice and clear. A bonus for me, As an Englishman I love hearing accents, I thoroughly enjoyed yours, where I could hear 2 lands mixed beautifully.. IF you don’t mind me saying.

      Haha. What two lands are they? I used to live in Ireland (near Dublin). I have being living in The Philippines since 2010. I lived in London in the mid '80s, but I doubt I have any accent from that time

    Hello Pascal, Eden and the lovely Ciara🍀
    I want you to know that I really appreciate your wonderful "How to Wire a Magnetic Paddle Switch" video! Thorough instruction/demonstration indeed... Thanks for sharing, be safe and stay safe. Good luck and best regards/Ned 👏🌹👏

    HI Pascal, thanks a lot for whole explanation. For good luck you shown how to wire the switch, neither the seller was able to do that. He suggested me to loop A1 with nr 14 but as far as I understand I've to connect with 24 (positive out). Surely I'm not an electrician but I perfectly understood your words. I've just some trouble to put 2 wires in a single (blue) faston cause I used 2,5 mm wires (those for 16A) and line will be dedicated to trimmer/router only (respectively 700 and 1400 watts). Thanks once more

      The numbers may vary with different switches, but the diagram on the back should show what has to be cross energized. It works with the switch I linked in the description above.

    Hello Pascal,
    I admire your abilities. You have a lot of information. I'm glad to see that you are also knowledgeable about electricity. We use this type of automatic condition in many machines. Thank you for showing and explaining in detail. Useful video. See you. Greetings. Best regards. Your friend Mehmet

      Thank you Mehmet. These switches are ideal for router tables, like the one you just made

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@IrishChippy Ideal for the router table I'm making. There are other shortcomings of the router table, I did it hastily. And I will make up for all your shortcomings later. such as the storage area and the front cover. I will do some upgrades soon. See you. Cheers mate.

    None of the switches that look like this that I have bought or seen anywhere have the 5th terminal A1, they only have the other 4 terminals.

    • @IrishChippy
      @IrishChippy  ปีที่แล้ว

      The ones you have may be pre-wired internally.

    A Magnetic switch works when a machine is working and saddle power went off and you did int switch it off, and when the power came back the machine will start or it goes off when the power went off

    Hi, thanks for the video. Can one connect two or more such switches for the same machine (at different locations in the workshop to switch on the dust extractor for example)?

    • @IrishChippy
      @IrishChippy  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is possible, but not like a 2-way 3-way switch. I would consider it very dangerous, as you can only switch off from the one you switched on. Thank you for waching

    What size wires did you use?

    • @IrishChippy
      @IrishChippy  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It depends on what you are using it for. 14AWG (2.00 mm2) is usually plenty for most machines. Thank you for watching
