Royal Celebration in

The coronation of Charles III and his wife, Camilla, as king and queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth areas, took place on 6 May 2023 at Westminster Abbey. Charles acceded to the throne on 8 September 2022, upon the death of his mother, Elizabeth II.
The ceremony was structured around an Anglican service of Holy Communion. It included Charles being anointed with holy oil, receiving the coronation regalia, and being crowned, emphasising his spiritual role and secular responsibilities
In Birmingham, it was two days of community focussed activity that took place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th May 2023, in Centenary Square, in the heart of city centre. Centenary Square hosted a party, with an outdoor stage and live entertainment over the bank holiday weekend. Both the Coronation event and the Coronation Concert were screened live from the square.
The two days of celebrations included live music, representing the vibrant diversity of Birmingham and the wider West Midlands, including performances from local acoustic musicians, choirs, live bands, cultural entertainment & street entertainers.
