Watching this as native from Northern Germany, this is pretty authentic. And I've seen many German Christmas Markets over the years. 😄 Birmingham - What an impressive town. Greetings to the UK from Germany.
I live inNZ but am from the UK and I will never get used to warm and sunny Christmas's, I think you need the cold dark evenings to appreciate these markets and the atmostphere
Birmingham is the best love it thanks Tim.. but I am a Brummie, fed up of people slating Brum its an amazing city, thank you for show casing it at this time x
I have literally just come back from there in the last 5 minutes, great night out. I used to go to Birmingham back in my clubbing day, used to go to Central park, Exile and the big club round the corner, can anyone else remember that?
Great to see Brum and how it's changed and of course St. Martin's Church where most of my greats were baptised, married etc,. thanx for posting this video!
This was a great video. I have never seen Birmingham's Christmas Market before. It seems much bigger than the York Market I watched on Walk with Me before. Thank you for taking us on these tours. They are greatly appreciated. I can't wait for 'smell-a-vision' to be invented for all those treats you showed us. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
Missing Brum. Lived there for 13 years. I'm now in Scotland and Edinburgh Christmas market is amazing. The castle, cobblestone roads, the whole scenery and atmosphere during the Christmas holidays makes it even more magical.
@@danielcunningham6727 Unfortunately, you're right as I do hear stories from friends there. We moved just in time before it went down to what it is today.
@@badboybullterriers4104 Well you might hate it but most Brummies love it other wise it would not be so crouded and it bring tourist to Birmingham from all over the country
Amazing hope we get there safe looks miles better than Yorkshire one Birmingham has definitely gone all out so many things to see this gonna be my birthday present on 26th
Always has been my favourite too over the years. My how it has changed since the little wooden "sheds" that some of the stall holders used. Brilliant, thank you xx
If you like Birmingham and you want to stay and film a truly astonishing hotel.... Try The Grand Hotel on Colmore row and make sure to visit Madeline's bar and the Ballroom. Re-opened 2021 after an 18-year multi-million-pound restoration. The service is as good as the hotel is beautiful.
My gran used to take us to Brum in 60's (bus fare 12½p return for her, 6p return each for us!). I remember seeing "the Black Church", St. Martin's and thinking it was the Devil's Church. Then I went back a few years ago, stood by Selfridges (the building with the metal discs covering the outside) on a new terrace, looking down on an unfamiliar Church, freshly cleaned sandstone, beautiful blue clock with gold numbers and hands, and realised with a shock that this was the Black Church of my childhood, with the centuries of soot and dirt and exhaust emissions scrubbed away. The old Bull Ring is gone, thank goodness, and a new shopping centre, a tram network and the rebuilt and magnificent New Street Station dominates an open, busy piazza. Stand up comics will still mock Brum as ugly, but they haven't been there.....
I live in Shropshire and Birmingham is a lovely city the councils have done so much to make Birmingham a beautiful city. Lovely old buildings stunning.
Oh l was this morning there busy busy even around 11am thre is no German selling on the market couple years ago 90% it was Poles nowadays Romanians/Bulgarians are working there 👍🏻for traditional Christmas scene❤
I used to take a school trip here from Kent as a languages trip as the stall holders speak German and it was a way I could allow students who didn’t have a passport etc to immerse in German culture and speak some German. Great trip for us adults too!
How things have changed in England since I left 40yrs ago. Just a few light bulbs hanging over the streets and a nativity scene in the town with a Christmas tree. Shop windows were always dressed though. Birmingham really gone for it loved it but seemed expensive. Love the skating rink. Thanks for sharing
I'm from Birmingham, I live in Bournemouth so I've been to the Christmas markets in both towns numerous times, I've also been to Winchesters. All have their own plus points, Bournemouth's is beautiful with the gardens all lit up, Winchesters is in the Cathedral close and all that history gives it a wonderful feel but for sheer scale and the detail of the buildings erected for the market Birmingham's is outstanding.
A brilliant Christmas atmosphere at this Birmingham market, from what you've shown on this video. I bet there won't be anything anywhere else in Britain as good as this, and with the grand fair there as well. So colorful and atmospheric. A great presentation, thank you.

Yep done Christmas Market at Brimingham love the Chocolate Mashmellos got a box of 20 when i was there. 😜 Also when i was a youngster use to go train spotting on New St Station.
I grew up in Brum too, I've not been back for many years. What a great Christmas market, but I would give the Star Flyer a miss, crikey 😲😬 I've never been to a Christmas market, but this one looks really good. It's good to see Christmas traditions still being celebrated, I especially appreciated the Nativity scene, that was lovely.
I live in Birmingham :) I on the whole enjoy it. This video is great to see. I go once/twice a year as a treat, as it is expensive. I didn't realise The Britannia on New St was closed. I have stayed there years ago, it's not great. Rumour has it prostitutes would use it.
They were still setting some of it up on Sunday by the Cathedral (lots of little stalls that used to be on the bridge and Chamberlain square where all the new builds are). The pop up pub there is back again I see..
Wow, I grew up in Birmingham, the market has always been big, but this is something else! I used to love the chocolate marshmallow things, so addictive! I still have my Nepalese hats and mittens, they were all the rage in the mid 2000s.
Thank you so much for sharing, one of the best videos I have ever seen for atmosphere, when you went on the swing I was grateful I was in my armchair, it made my tummy weird. I had a wonderful time at your visit to the Christmas Market. 😍💗
Going in a couple of weeks. German beer is expensive but nice and I Love mulled wine so I can't wait. Give my 4 year old son a good Christmas experience because my home town in evesham doesn't really do anything.

I just love a European Christmas market. In Australia, sadly we don't know how to do Christmas. I have been spoiled by visiting some great Christmas markets in France, Germany and Britain. My favourites in England are Winchester and York. Just love them.
I can't stop laughing when u were so excited (were u?) being hung in the air. I'm afraid of heights but I don't mind seeing how it looks through ur eyes. Thanks Tim!
Ruddy hell, Tim, that ride! Had me and hub squirming with height fear...and he loves amusement and fairground rides! Your camera is too good! Nice tour of the market. Looks very festive already. Cheers!👍

Wow thank you Tim. I only live in Coventry yet never been to Birmingham Xmas Market. Maybe this year I should. Thank you again for a super video, will go on a ride before the mulled wine, excellent heads up. ☺
Friends in Birmingham love this one. Rochester in Kent is always nice with the Christmas Market 🌲starting 26th November in the shadow of the Castle grounds 🏰with traditional funfair rides and the Dickensian Christmas with all the Dickens characters parading the cobbled streets over the first weekend of December every year. Not on such a grand scale as Birmingham etc but still fun...although it does get really packed! x J x
Can definitely recommend Rochester! A very historical town, with the castle and cathedral. The Dickens festival is full-on and the market is traditional, similar to the German markets. My go-to festive treat.
Totally agree Tim. Ice rinks in the festive time should all be like. NYC. I've never been but for that one reason I would. Another amazing video, your do photogenic and the camera loves you. Keep up your AMAZING WORK. X

Birmingham, just because I've there 😄
York is lovely
