Some Visitation monasteries have schools and some do not; all are cloistered to some degree. The sisters in Georgetown only leave the monastery on school or community business - they're not running out to grab a cup of coffee or see a movie like communities that are considered mainly "active." The Catholic church isn't demolishing them, the Church teaches that we shouldn't judge them that we should respect that they are going through a difficult time in their life and we should pray for them, it's not as negative as you seem to think it is.

Does anything about my quote say anything about condemning them to a loveless life? No. It actually commands us to love them.
The church doesn't condemn people simply for being gay nor does it say it's their fault. If you meet a Catholic who condemns or who bullies anyone simply for being gay, give them Catechism paragraph 2358 "...They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives..." (it won't all fit w/ a 500 character limit) and a punch in the face from me.
