  • In this episode of The Silk City Podcast, brought to you by, Rebecca Eckert, Esq. Estate Planning Attorney, Host Paul Bastante, writer and director of the film, "Friendly Tolerable Characters of Pompton Lakes", interviews actor and owner of Wayne Lifestyle Magazine, Phil Barone. Phil will be appearing in the local historical documentary film by Silk City Films.
In the episode, they discuss the film, scheduled to be released on December 27th, 2024. Barone dishes on Joe Louis and the role that the history of professional boxing plays in the history of Pompton Lakes. Bastante also throws around the facts regarding some of the historic places in Pompton like the Schuyler House, where Louis slept when training in Pompton. The Schuyler House also was the headquarters of The Continental Army for 1781 and 1782.
We would like to point out and thank the sponsors of "Friendly Tolerable Characters", this film in no way shape or form would be possible without them. We would also like to thank the government of Pompton Lakes and notably Councilwoman Maria Kent, who never stopped pushing for this project for the people of Pompton!

Lastly, as the director of past films for Silk City Films, I can honestly say that pound for pound Pompton Lakes, N.J. possesses more interesting history and context than any film that I have ever done. "Friendly Tolerable Characters", the phrase, is a reference to a 1956 piece of content that was uploaded to TH-cam by Pompton Lakes Historic Committee member Kieth Lockwood.
That film, along with part two, builds a distinct contrast in the diversity of our community and how it has changed in the last 68 years. Today Pompton Lakes, N.J. is a diverse and attractive community where any family would enjoy an inclusive and divergent life experience.
Thank you all for following along as we continue to bring the content associated with this movie to you, and again, to our sponsors, to whom we are all so deeply indebted.
