Though it's more of a thing in the later bosses since I don't think don't think any bosses had counters until after hetero hive mother in chapter 14

That was a visual bug, if you simply parry everything clone doesn't spawn exception is when mephis is stunned. You can see clone spawned only when mephis was stunned after visual bug. Parrying everything makes this fight a joke
I hope you make a guide for this too man, the last one for crownless helped me immensely, I still didn't learn the boss enough but I cleared it just by following some of the tips with the mid-air parry and dodging the long combo in the sky.
