Playing the sections with the long stretch of pulleys sucked major ass when playing as Sonic. I haven’t played Tails or Knuckles yet, but _DAMN,_ Those two could completely cheese that entire area.
Falling down the canyon especially. Thank god for the amazing lives system in this game or I would’ve game overed a lot more in that stage. Honestly, more games with lives need to have an option to enable that. It’s pure genius.

Whenever you gain 500,000 score, you gain a Continue, which allows you to restart the level if you Game Over. every time you continue, the games sends you back to however many lives had when you first started the save file and then adds 2 more to the count. Now you have 5. Game over again, you start at 5 and gain 2 more for 7 lives, so on and so forth. TL;DR: As long as you have a Continue you can restart the level with 2 extra lives added to the current base count

You go from grassy plains, to an industrialized grassland then you go to flooded ancient ruins and then you go to the antagonist’s fortress and then you go to a desert mountain with a lot of looney tunes references, then the inside and outside of a volcano near a jungle and then a gloomy city and then the antagonist’s spaceship and then the antagonist’s space station then the antagonist’s more red space station and boom you fight the antagonist for the last time. Most classic sonic games have no story driven levels. Edit: the “gloomy city” is Dark City and the “spaceship” is Grand Eggship. Edit 2: jeez I was a weirdo back then
this song is incredible. Sonic games, no matter who makes the music, always has a great soundtrack. I think anyone who works on Sonic understands that.

when i first heard this beat in my playthough.. i had to set the controller down and just bask in the awe of this tune. The Dedicated fans know how to hit those feels much much more better than sega ever could on their own.
I manage to edit my data file so it plays Olds and news. I didn't like some of the new so I replace them. Just a few. I love the new sound tracks. The ones that I removed still plays in other stages or mod stages so it's still in my game.
Over a year since 2.2 came out, this still is my favourite level. It's so... free! Go literally anywhere you want in this giant canyon filled with twisting roads and fun obstacles, topped with one of gaming's finest songs, in my opinion.
Although Eggman has vanished without a trace, our heroes haven't given up hope. Their newly-acquired intel allows them to continue the Emerald hunt. Blazing across canyon trails, our heroes simply follow the path in front of them.

this level is genuinely my favorite. running through with any non flying character is an absolute blast when you end up making some split second reactions over bottomless pits. level design is genuinely challenging in a perfect way. you can quite literally speed through sections with a high risk high reward

I love the upbeat Wild Armsy vibes of this theme as well as the whole Looney Tunes layout, but that's about all this world has going for it. The stage itself is a PAIN. Pitfalls fucking EVERYWHERE and most of the time, Sonic's body won't connect with the pulleys so you instantly fall to your death. Having Tails helps, but when you're trying to maneuver through a clusterfuck of TNT barrels, Tails' dumbass AI will almost always hit one, causing YOU to pay the penalty for it. Seriously, I lost so many lives here that I nearly rage quit
There’s a tornado shield just before the last checkpoint if you jump off the road at the right time. I’ve found that using it makes that section a lot easier
Past the forest lies a harsh change in biome and weather.... These huge mountains have been here for millennia, slowly eroded by the sandy winds. Someone's attempted to build at least somewhat of a navigation and transport system here- and- eww!! is that oil??? Looks' like someone's been up to some- WAIT IS THAT DYNAMITE?!
@@sanicmaniac it still uses the doom engine as a base. A heavily modified version of the doom engine but it’s still doom at its core. Also most modern source ports are heavily modified from doom

A durty road with not much to see,but alot to hear. The people that visited this place claim that the band here is very talented,but in recent times,the band's guitarist,Nack the Wheasel,became an incredible skilled bandit,and starded to be nick-named "Fang the Sniper". Since then,visiting the arid canyon became a huge danger. Fang growed every cactus in the sandy area to extreme levels,and exploded a huge amount of the floor. He also thought it be a good idea to build his new trainstation. Sonic & co. think that i'll be tought time getting throught the place,but they will try there best.

In the old arid canyon if you noclipped out of bounds there was a long stretch of road.

The last part with the ropes is pure torture with Sonic.
