Love those style of seats. I had a similar set in my blue mini years ago. Creates much more space in the car too sat lower down

Mate they’re soooo much more comfortable than the standard style seats, plus the higher sides help you to really throw the car around corners with minimal movement transferred from your body. Definitely a much needed upgrade for both style and comfort 👌🏼

@@Tomostuneupswould these still hold you in place with a lap belt?

@@anthonypipia6990 I don’t see why they wouldn’t, so long as the belt is adjustable. They work rather well in Grace with the standard belt

Can you just the existing seat mounts in the mini? Remove the mount from old seats and put on new cobra seats?

Hi mate, unfortunately you can’t swap these over with the original seats as they’re not compatible. I think even if you did, they wouldn’t be as safe as the ones specifically designed for them.

Hi Tomo, I have just bought a pair of Cobra Cub seats and the Cobra rails from Mini Sport too. I found fitting the last rear bolt to the seat a nightmare as I had to flex the rail out to enable the bolt to go in. Once you do that however sliding the seat becomes much harder. Easy fix I will enlarge the holes today to allow better alignment. Mine main gripe with these is that the pull up seat adjuster sticks so far forward that you end up with your calf muscles resting on the damn thing. The rails have a bunch of mounting holes but the seat only has two each side, so you cannot simply move the mount further back by an inch or so. The only way I can see to fix this is to cut 30mm or so out of each side of the adjusting lever and then weld it back together. Do you have the same issue. Very good video by the way, I went looking for an install video today before I started in the drivers seat as I was hoping some one would have a solution, but from the video it appears that your adjusting bar sticks out equally far. The other thing I will try today is to radius off the nose of the two front rail mounts so that I can use the very top two holes and lower the front of the seat a bit more.
    Cheers jb

Hey bud, thanks heaps for the feedback!
Ok so I didn’t have any dramas with the seat rails lining up on the bottom of the seat frame. I’d say that when they’ve drilled them from factory it was out of alignment, hence when you stretched it, they wouldn’t slide properly. Good idea though by elongating the holes to make it work. Did yours come with only 2 bolts per seat?
Yep I had the same dilemma with mine. They’re easily removed in which I just store under the seats when and if I need to move it back or forward.
I’m regards to the height at the front, I could only properly gain access to the top seat mount bolt holes along with the middle ones (where the cross bar mounts the front seat brackets). The bottom holes I would have had to either grind down either the bracket on the seat or the bracket mounted to the vehicle. I have found the middle mounting hole works best for my driving position and style.
I went looking also on how to install these on a classic mini but sadly nothing was out there. Other similar videos but not specific to the mini. It appears we have the same issues so my guess is this is how they are, but moving forward, if it’s a slight dilemma, then some trimming may be required.
Feel free to to dm me on Instagram if you or anyone else reading this gets stuck. Cheers bud 😎

Hi Tomo, thanks for your reply. I just got in from the garage to read your reply I was actually out there grinding down the nose on the cobra seat bracket so I could sink it lower into the Leyland Mini mounts and try and use the very top hole on the cobra mount. Still did not work because then you hit the tip of the top hole on the Leyland Mount, can’t be bothered grinding that away as well, So what I’m doing is inserting six mil spacers into the leyland seat mounts and offsetting the cobra brackets either to the outside or inside haven’t decided which yet that allows me to use the very top mount on the cobra seat and bolt the seat using any combination I like of seat rail and Leyland mount. It’s a tip I found on the videos from Steveston Motor Co videos he has lots of good videos. I also bought a set of the dark smoked sun visors from him. Bloody brilliant things as you can still see out with them down.
I got 16 bolts with my pair of seats by the way by the way 8 socket head cap screws and 8 cheese head screws. I used the cheese head screws obviously because they have a lower profile.
      Cheers John
