At that level, you can improvise and adapt without thinking about. That's the goal, to do things without thinking to methodically. React.

I survived 14 Calender years in private C.C.A. prison in USA and out of numerous stabbings, murders, knife attacks I witnessed in 14 years of gladiator school at a prison nicknamed The Thunderdome not once did I ever encounter nor witness men leading with the knuckles/hand/wrist the way ALL FMA feeders do during empty hand disarm demos. Knifers, hitters, always lead with the blade. Not the hand. And they always punch with the empty hand & stab w/the weapon hand, throwing combos like a trained boxer. Or they grab, destabilize, push & pull the victim around then stab with the weapon hand while the victim is off balance. Or they jam, pin, the victim against a wall or into a corner and stab them like a sewing machine. Or they body slam the victim then mount them and stab them from the mount while ground & pounding them both hands (knife tied to the dominate hand). Almost always men tied the weapon to the hand to prevent disarms. I trained Latosa Escrima in the 90s and cross trained PTK and watch demos from many other FMA styles. FMA empty hand disarms of a knifer are fake. The greatest FMA guro to ever live would die trying to disarm a prison hitter in a U.S. prison. Knife hitters don't attack the way FMA feeders do in FMA demos.

You make a valid point, being a man who grew up in rough areas where some of my friends had been in and out of prison I can relate. Disarm demos are good for learning and understanding lines and angles of attack but I believe there needs to be more realism added to these weapon based arts in regards to knife tactics because the street/prison knife fighter doesnt think in terms of angles 1 through 5.

Your comment has been the best so far. Your correct in your observations because 95% of FMA is absolute nonsense as they have not evolved and exist purely for sport and entertaining tourists. Of all the FMA systems out there would there would be less than 10 that are legitimate with practical applications a person could actually use.
This clip is based on a system called Peketi Teresita Serada the school head is named Leo Gaje, I can assure you that what Leo teaches to civilians vs LE or Mil are two different things. The stuff u see being demonstrated here is Civilian and in an extremely poor standard at that. It is likely that this teacher know 2/10ths of fuck all about this system based simply on his poor execution of movements, no footwork and sketchy explanations and to cap it off that dumb smile on his face shouts just another seminar expert with false quals as there are literally hundreds of these snake oil merchants. I mean this idiot is teaching a serious subject but is wearing a stupid smile look on his face…cmon is this idiot for real.
Just because he speaks in broken English with a Flip accent and is a Flip that does not make him some grandmaster let alone teacher. Traditionally there are no ranks in FMA it’s just teacher and student and that much of the drivel this fraudster is spouting is elementary at best.
I suggest if you are interested in this that you track down 2 of Leo’s old students from the 80s and 90s in US by the names of Tim WAID or Bill McGRAH as these guys are and will be as legit to this system as you can outside Leo himself.

@@junfanfighter Let them competitively spar full contact against a boxer holding a training knife in his dominate hand and mma glove on his non-dominate hand. Then test their empty hand knife disarms. . .Renea Latosa, the founder of my school of Escrima, says that our disarm is when we cut off your weapon bearing hand at the wrist with our own blade.

Does Ama Guro Raffy Pambuan still have a school in Florida? Are they still teaching or have a school in Florida, and how can we contact them? I was also wondering who Baba Tech guro Rufino Raffy Pambuan might be?

That's a good question. He doesn't promote himself to the public, and he's still resides in Florida. He's really old school in terms of screening who he teaches. He said that if you want to get a hold of him, you have to contact one of his students.

We did this in 2019 before the pandemic hit. We're trying to document as many guro's as possible. What we appreciate about Ama Guro is that he's old school, he'll only teach a person only if they are referred by a trusted student, friend or family member.

@@FMAPulse I tried googling for arnis classes in Orlando for the longest time and did not find a school. I just ended up, by chance, befriending one of his instructors.
it's a double edged sword - his flavor/style of the Mother art will live on only through his students. I'm sure he has enough now that it won't just disappear, thank goodness.
I appreciate what y'all do, genuinely. I feel honored that you would give his art, that I have been so blessed to receive, the recognition that it deserves. Ama Guro was gracious enough to be open and share with the world and thanks to FMA Pulse it can reach a lot more folks, hopefully more kids that will continue to share Ama Guro's gifts.
