With all due respect, I'm not sure that subtle energy (i.e., forms of energy more subtle than conventional physical instruments can detect) is covered in conventional electrical engineering courses. This is in more the realm of neurobiology than house wiring. This device was on sale so I'll give it a try. No need to shame other people, even if this particular device is in fact a scam.

Super video - I love the rigor of your testing. I hope that folks like the Hapbee team keep trying, this sort of technology is awesome - but you can't skip the step where you make the product actually work!
Just a suggestion. Would have been interesting to measure the EMF output of the device as it can be both therapeutic as well as harmful across all variations (frequency, magnetic & electro).
It just depends on how susceptible you are to the placebo effect in which case save yourself a couple of bucks and get a crystal sold by one of those stalls by the beach, the range of benefit will be pretty much the same. a while back I got approached by a sale-person for this miracle volcanic magnet bracelet thingy now normally I am a skeptic and try to do some digging when these thing pop up knowing what this is as my parents also got rolled by the same scam, so after she asked me just to demo for 1 minute of my time I accepted , so she instructed me to stand on my one leg arms stretched out she pushed my hand down with one finger and I lost my balance , so she put the bracelet on my wrist and start the demo again with about 3 people watching, now me knowing how the scam works said "OK now remember to try and push towards my feet and not straight down like last time so I don't loose my balance this time" right there she turned pale and without a word in one motion removed the bracelet from me ,turned around and speed-walked away. leaving me having to explain to the confused onlookers what just happened.

A lot of people were excited about the Hapbee. I seem to be allergic to all of these one size fits all devices that claim to have a "recipe" for anything under the sun. I didn't even make the time to try it. Something about the subscription fee tied to hardware always rubs me the wrong way as well. I hate to think that the physical technology I paid for suddenly becomes worthless if I stop paying monthly. It is a great business model though!

I wanted this device to work but it did absolutely nothing for me. Thankfully, Hapbee refunded my money. Also, I no longer trust nor follow Dave Asprey's advice.

A good businessman would never be dishonest or misrepresent one of his products. The most valuable thing any businessman has is their reputation, and Dave has ruined his reputation with many people. Some of the people that I really trust endorsed the Hapbee, convincing me to give it a try. Much like yourself, I have noticed nothing while wearing the device. I have not tried it for hundreds of hours, but I have switched "signals" while using it and noticed no change. To say that I am not impressed is an understatement.
The first setting I used was focus. I found myself not as scattered as I sat at my desk to work. The next one I tried was Alert. I had just had coffee and the current was way too strong for me. I had to take it off immediately. Right now it is my midafternoon slump and I have it on alert because if I drink coffee , I will never sleep tonight. It perks me up just enough. I tried calm when I was meditating and I fell asleep so not doing that again during meditation. I cannot tell much difference with Happy but I have not played with it as much. Also, I think it is not as definitive an emotion for me. I do not think sleep works to get me to sleep if I am having trouble or wake in the middle of the night. I need to experiment with all the settings more. I must be someone who is sensitive to fields and wanted to give my results since they were so much different from Katie's. It might be worth it for you if you know you are sensitive to different fields.

Have someone else change the setting for you and see if you can still detect them. Not exactly valid if you have an expectation of what emotion to feel. Thank you for sharing regardless though.

My company gave these out as a Christmas bonus and I just received mine yesterday. I'm trying to give it an honest go, but I'm super skeptical and your video is only helping confirm that. However, a couple of people on my team have confirmed they felt energized from the Alert setting, so it may be as you say, that only some people will be susceptible to this. I strongly feel you should re-review this device. They had A LOT of problems when you reviewed it and I'm confident your unit was defective. It took them a while to figure out their business model, the hardware and the software, but it's finally at a level where I'm comfortable recommending it to others. My only thought is that you are pretty tuned up, so moving the bar would be hard. You tested your mother-in-law and she experienced something. I would like to hear options on someone new to Bio-hacking that is just starting and have big health goals. Overall I loved the review. Keep them coming.

Hey Katie, as engineer I want to point out that magnetic fields are superbly understood. They’re not “magical”, “exotic” or anything outside our comprehension. In fact, the whole electromagnetic theory has been well understood for a while and Maxwell unified the electromagnetic theory almost 160 years ago. I’m sure you know that from your research. As for the effect on the human body, is close to none. Our bodies are not paramagnetic (i.e. cannot be magnetized) nor respond to external magnetic fields. When you get an MRI scan for instance, your body is subject to a magnetic field three million times that of the entire planet, yet no effects are visible or measured in the human body. No matter how much they try to market this or any magnetic health product, it’s a fool’s errand. And a lucrative one for that, since apparently there’s no shortage of fools.
Sounds like my experience with OMNIpemf. I got absolutely nothing out of the device and my Oura ring confirmed it. It looks like PEMF is useful for medical stuff but for mood and etc there is still a lot of room to grow

You can’t use it over and over with different settings. You have to wait some time before changing the setting for it to work. You also have to use it for 1 hour per setting for full effect. Don’t throw down a great company when your not even using the device right
You also have to wait for the planets to be in correct allignment and you must have your left ring finger in the correct position, in relation to the cardinal direction of your front door.
You have to make sure to do the onboard process. I have one, and had the same issue. It wasn't until I used Sleepy - and had a deeper sleep. Use sleepy first for one week - track your sleep. Then try the other signals.
Hey Katie or anyone out there. Do you know of any cognitive machine that does work as advertised? I was looking at the David Paradise mind machine. Maybe you can test that one day ;)
It probably doesn't really matter. EM waves are EM waves. There is absolutely no way they can simulate emotions based on the reactions going on inside your brain and central nervous system on a chemical or molecular level.

Emotions are complex neurochemical cocktails which provide some kind of electric current due to their chemical nature, but really, how would PEMF even affect neurotransmitters or pathways which are activated and then fired by chemicals and how would that invoked ‘current’ make changes at all to one’s emotional state? ;)
@@sorenskjoldjensen There only way to stimulate an electric current in the brain noninvasively is with very very very high electric fields, which would allow ions to travel across the neuron and allow it to 'fire.' No way something as rudimentary as EMF waves, whether its from a dangling necklace or being 'pulsed' could accurately target certain centers of the brain with high precision. Having a high enough field to do that could also easily kill you by making all your neurons fire at once. No way enough energy from something that operates on mere batteries could do that. PEMF or any EMF by consumer or even industrial standards would affect your brain or neurons in any meaningful way. You'd probably need a crazy array of capacitors to discharge enough energy for a field to have enough power to do anything. No meaningful current would be invoked by these products because our neurons are not made of metal with a sea of electrons flowing freely

Whether its being turned on and off rapidly for a pulsing effect, no way could those products actually do anything to the nervous system or neuron receptors. The earths magnetic field is stronger, but does not affect our brains either.

I just purchased this... I like it so far.... it seems to be helping me with sleep and my back pain... it is subtle, but I do notice that I am more productive during the day when I wear it ( even when I forget that I am wearing it) ... I have a history of insomnia and so far, this seems to help me get back to sleep when I wake up at night. I’ll take any help I can get ... so far, I am pleased with it. ❤️🙏🏼❤️

Massively weak magnetic pulse plus cellular molecular mimicking is nonsense. I really rate this poorly as indeed was the emmit which was even worse. Omnipemf wearable is much more powerful.
low energy emf will never affect the brain. Emotions are the result of physical chemical reactions. This device claims to do something similar to smelling a flower just by looking at a picture of it. That said, I dont think the device is advertised as detecting brain waves. They just measure the 'EMF' of chemicals and try to make the brain simulate those chemical reactions by playing back the EMF. pretty idiotic
Yeah I'm not enjoying mine much so far. There's just no way that 100% of people could tell whether it was on or not. The thing is so ridiculously uncomfortable. What were they thinking? It's a live strong bracelet around your neck... I think your mom's note that it made her feel altered negatively is not besides the point! Choose how you feel lol. I MAY have felt something once or twice. But.. Maybe not better. And yes, it feels so rushed. Oh yeah.. The green light right above your eye.. The 'dimmable' Ironman light is still bright and you can't turn it off. Bluetooth connectivity a joke(of course).
If you really did the research, not just play with some paper sheets, you'd understand that it CAN'T work. It just can't. This one and only thing that can control your mood with magnetic field? Come on.

I tried calm when I was meditating and I fell asleep so not doing that again during meditation. I cannot tell much difference with Happy but I have not played with it as much. Also, I think it is not as definitive an emotion for me. I do not think sleep works to get me to sleep if I am having trouble or wake in the middle of the night.
I need to experiment with all the settings more.
I must be someone who is sensitive to fields and wanted to give my results since they were so much different from Katie's. It might be worth it for you if you know you are sensitive to different fields.

I tried to represent the device as fairly as I could considering I believe others may benefit from it.
Have someone else change the setting for you and see if you can still detect them. Not exactly valid if you have an expectation of what emotion to feel. Thank you for sharing regardless though.

Thanks for such a in-depth review Katie! Given you’re not that sensitive to EMFs it might be interesting to get your thoughts on somavedic. I’ve had mine a month or so now and after a few weeks I’ve seen crazy difference in my oura deep sleep and we’ve had issues with our Wi-fi signal being disrupted. 💕

My company gave these out as a Christmas bonus and I just received mine yesterday. I'm trying to give it an honest go, but I'm super skeptical and your video is only helping confirm that. However, a couple of people on my team have confirmed they felt energized from the Alert setting, so it may be as you say, that only some people will be susceptible to this.

Hey Katie, as engineer I want to point out that magnetic fields are superbly understood. They’re not “magical”, “exotic” or anything outside our comprehension. In fact, the whole electromagnetic theory has been well understood for a while and Maxwell unified the electromagnetic theory almost 160 years ago. I’m sure you know that from your research.
As for the effect on the human body, is close to none. Our bodies are not paramagnetic (i.e. cannot be magnetized) nor respond to external magnetic fields.
When you get an MRI scan for instance, your body is subject to a magnetic field three million times that of the entire planet, yet no effects are visible or measured in the human body. No matter how much they try to market this or any magnetic health product, it’s a fool’s errand. And a lucrative one for that, since apparently there’s no shortage of fools.

Sounds like my experience with OMNIpemf. I got absolutely nothing out of the device and my Oura ring confirmed it. It looks like PEMF is useful for medical stuff but for mood and etc there is still a lot of room to grow

You can’t use it over and over with different settings. You have to wait some time before changing the setting for it to work. You also have to use it for 1 hour per setting for full effect. Don’t throw down a great company when your not even using the device right
You also have to wait for the planets to be in correct allignment and you must have your left ring finger in the correct position, in relation to the cardinal direction of your front door.

You have to make sure to do the onboard process. I have one, and had the same issue. It wasn't until I used Sleepy - and had a deeper sleep. Use sleepy first for one week - track your sleep. Then try the other signals.

It probably doesn't really matter. EM waves are EM waves. There is absolutely no way they can simulate emotions based on the reactions going on inside your brain and central nervous system on a chemical or molecular level.

Emotions are complex neurochemical cocktails which provide some kind of electric current due to their chemical nature, but really, how would PEMF even affect neurotransmitters or pathways which are activated and then fired by chemicals and how would that invoked ‘current’ make changes at all to one’s emotional state? ;)
@@sorenskjoldjensen There only way to stimulate an electric current in the brain noninvasively is with very very very high electric fields, which would allow ions to travel across the neuron and allow it to 'fire.' No way something as rudimentary as EMF waves, whether its from a dangling necklace or being 'pulsed' could accurately target certain centers of the brain with high precision. Having a high enough field to do that could also easily kill you by making all your neurons fire at once. No way enough energy from something that operates on mere batteries could do that.
PEMF or any EMF by consumer or even industrial standards would affect your brain or neurons in any meaningful way. You'd probably need a crazy array of capacitors to discharge enough energy for a field to have enough power to do anything.
No meaningful current would be invoked by these products because our neurons are not made of metal with a sea of electrons flowing freely

Whether its being turned on and off rapidly for a pulsing effect, no way could those products actually do anything to the nervous system or neuron receptors. The earths magnetic field is stronger, but does not affect our brains either.

I just purchased this... I like it so far.... it seems to be helping me with sleep and my back pain... it is subtle, but I do notice that I am more productive during the day when I wear it ( even when I forget that I am wearing it) ... I have a history of insomnia and so far, this seems to help me get back to sleep when I wake up at night. I’ll take any help I can get ... so far, I am pleased with it. ❤️🙏🏼❤️

low energy emf will never affect the brain. Emotions are the result of physical chemical reactions. This device claims to do something similar to smelling a flower just by looking at a picture of it. That said, I dont think the device is advertised as detecting brain waves. They just measure the 'EMF' of chemicals and try to make the brain simulate those chemical reactions by playing back the EMF. pretty idiotic
