Thank you Sajad Azhar sahib for explaining the real facts and causes of Rawalpindi fasadat in 1920's and 40's which were never known before. Rawalpindi is my city . I remember jamia masjid , kurshid cinema and bilraj sahini when he visited Rawallpindi in 60's. Your research about history of Rawalpindi is amazing.

Although I knew about Rawalpindi Fasad from Dr. Ishtiaq but Azhar sahib did great research and went into detail.
Pervez Hoodbhoy’s initiative with “The black hole” is much appreciated. At least there is one forum in Pakistan where people with critical thinking can freely discuss ideas and speak the truth.
Partition is a tragic and painful subject but we must face it with honesty and empathy for the victims.

The science of “Basic Reason” behind an historical event dictates; find the most powerful if they’re not behind it or in any form are not happy about the event that might help bring about their dream come true. Here we think the Pindi riots or other all over India had British blessings to speed-up their goal of neutralising the previous enemies ie, Sikhs and Muslims by bringing them to; “fight each other don’t come after us!”
Bravo! An excellent program that is full of never-before-heard information. Thank you!

There was asked whether anyone on the India side has looked in to the Rawalpindi fasadats by inquiring with hindu/sikhs who were impacted.
    The answer is no.
In my view there are atleast two important reasons for that
    1. The people who migrated to India (or were run out of Pakistan) like my family, were dispersed all over north India. It would be very difficult for anyone undertaking such an inquiry to find these people who were directly impacted by the katloaam, even if someone tried.
    2. Since independence, the Indian government has actively suppressed the memory of partition. Our history books include only a passing mention of it. I learned about the trauma from my grandparents and parents. And undertood the immensity of it when I saw Gandhi, the movie.
The Indian government, to build/preserve a secular character of the country buried the partition and erased it feom discourse, afraid that if people find out, what happened to minorities in Pakistan might happen to muslims in India. So much so that other that Punjabis sindhis and bengalis very few in India know about what happened during partition.
Those chickens are not coming home to roost has more information becomes available and more people learn about it.
The Muslims of India have not done themselves any favors in this regard

The reasons for non-violence in Baluchistan and Sindh are quite understandable. The relations between the two communities were more harmonious, and the poverty was on both sides of the aisle. In Punjab and in particular Rawalpindi, the relations were tense because both were living side by side. The urban commercial life of Rawalpindi was dominated by the Hindu community, the landed elite were mostly Sikhs, while the Muslims were on the fringes of the system. So there was a clear economic dividing-line between the Hindu-Sikh and their Muslim counterparts.

Besides other factors,in my opinion, mulana Ishaq was the main culprit behind whole massacre of pre &post partition. How said & heart breaking it is. Before this man, everyone was living peacefully 😢

Massacre took place in all places. My parents were in Ahmedpur East in the state of Bahawalpur and and our elders told us that poison was distributed to women in case the Muslim men tried to rape them. My father had many good Muslim friends who helped us to escape in return for giving them all property movable and immovable which was immense.

Same thing happened in Kashmir to minority Hindu Pandits!! 100% ethnic cleansing. They didn't leave a single family

Don't you mean the Muslims in Jammu, where 250,000 were murdered, and more forced out.
And now is happening to Muslims in Kashmir, where around 100,000 have already been murdered.
The pandits are still alive. The Muslims murdered in their hundreds of thousands.
Don't be sick, and create false comparisons.
