I remember coming home one night from an 8th grade dance and watching the movie that changed the course of my life on a black and white tv in my darkened bedroom: " The Graduate ". Thank you Joseph E. Levine, Mike Nichols, Dustin Hoffman, Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel for changing my life. Shalom.
Neat that it did that for you! In a strange way it affected mine, in the 70s, when a beau was going to crash my wedding like Elaine's was crashed- I owe a lot to his best friend for restraining/ keeping him away from my church.
It creates a kind of ambiance that promotes peace and acceptance of how things are. Can't swim upstream or fight the world when you listen to Art Garfunkel sing anything written by Paul Simon.
Right before listening to this song, I listened to Paul Simon on 12-string singing "The Only Living Boy in New York". Both have wonderful voices, but "Artie's" voice is angelic like no other.
You're never too young to appreciate talented singers, songwriters, and musicians. However, Art Garfunkel's vocals would never have been heard but for Paul Simon giving him the opportunity. Paul Simon wrote all the lyrics and music. You'll also find Paul Simon sang lead or shared lead vocals on the majority of their songs. Paul Simon IS the heart of Simon & Garfunkel. He is, and will be known as a musical genius by his peers and fans alike.
That's correct, and many people forget that, which I think is a frustration for Paul. It reminds me of the time I heard Artie speak of the pressure felt sometimes as being the frontman in the group. I saw Paul's eyes immediately dart in art's direction, and it was very clear to me that he wasn't pleased with that statement. I love both of them though. They have just had a lifelong friendship that involves a lot of rivalry. They are very different people. Paul does not appreciate being viewed as someone in the background. When he gives Artie the stage and lights for a solo I heard him say that he almost feels like he isn't even noticed for being there. I think it's just the nature of the beast.
The Changing Seasons of our lifetimes have never sounded so glorious than in these amazing performer's and songwriting! Paul Simon is one of the greatest songwriters of my time and Arthur sings so sweetly it brings tears to my heart and soul! Namaste.💖 Deepest Gifts, Respect for two of my favorite friends! Love, Kathy🌹
Roxanne Wheelan when I feel low I just go on to you tube and listen to S+G for awhile. Things seem better after that😀 we will never have another duo like them. The best 😀
How many people were balling in the audience?! I was one last year in Orlando and my sister punched me to be quiet, but I couldn't! His voice friggen made me cry, and many other men/women! I just remember being 3-5 lying (sp?) on shag carpet while my mom and dad did their thing (cleaning, hanging, etc) and hearing that voice along with Paul's :)
That's the word Deano-Mastery. pure mastery. That is the essence of Artie. He's a perfectionist, and he nails it like no other, seemingly without effort.
You can't blame Paul. They each will say that they both contributed to the ups and downs. They were best friends since age 10 in the 4th grade. Their relationship has had many ebbs and flows over the years. It was almost like a marriage. They both have deep, caring feelings for each other. These things happen over a long period of time. They would often annoy each other. I love Art and Paul. You don't know them personally and can not make those kind of judgements Denny.
It’s crazy Art wanted to do these haunting somber ballads, and Paul wanted to do these hip multi culture tunes. I never noticed how different their musical tastes were…
PLUS qu'un don dommage que je ne pourrais jamais dans cette vie leurs serrer la main.Mes idoles depuis leurs débuts personne ne leurs arrivent à la cheville
@@laurenr1417 No, it wasn’t. Paul has written it for himself. The original was recorded on his first solo album, the Paul Simon Songbook. It was written in 1964 and published when he was living in England in 1965 and it was quite successful there. th-cam.com/video/IuF07tScMCQ/w-d-xo.html
I think this is one of most beautiful songs ever, especially with his gorgeous voice
The guitarist is superb , it flowed from his soul.
@@bearthman12345I think the best version is Paul playing his composition himself.
Art has one of the purest beautiful voices in the business....
Artie has the sweetest voice ever heard.
Nobody other than the great Art Garfunkel could have sung this beautiful song so perfectly.
I feel blessed to have grown up listening to the music of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. A great time in music.
Agree with you, Michael Robinson!
Our generation had the best musicians and music ever.
And so many genres....🥰😍
My Favourite Garfunkel song.
Art Garfunkel- one of America's true national musical treasures!

The legendary Eric Weissberg (RIP) is the guitarist.
He mangled it with his add ons
SO thankful S&G were in my generation. Thank you Paul Simon for the magnificent music you wrote and composed.
Love, love, love Artie's sweet sound singing this sweet song. "Remember"...I just shudder with it's beautiful sound. 💞💜💖
This simple song is one of my favorites..its perfect in many ways.
WOW .... his voice is as good as ever in this 2010 version ... outstanding ... perfection ... a one of a kind voice ... so pleasing

@@ianstewart-koster9982 your so rite I've just been listening to whom the bells toll spooky or what!

extremely unique - but to me as equally likeable as Art Garfunkel
Mine too. I could listen to him all day & night. 😍
The voice will never be duplicated ,not even close ,my love Art Garfunkel
I feel the same.

My sister wrote this . She is with Jesus now she died from cancer. I just came across this. I love you Lynne❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
This is a gem. Absolutely beautiful and heartfelt!!!
Their albums were background music to my life and at so many parties.

They both have beautiful, haunting voices, but I agree, Garfunkel's is the sweetest.
The gold plate reverb cranked to 11 helps a lot

This is about Art. He's no shill. He gave voice to words in ways no other person could. He's in a league all his own. Magnificent.
However 🎉❤❤so True but we still love❤ART. Wish still SING AGAIN AS FRIENDS ♥️♥️🙏🙏
Excellent vocal from Art, and really nice arrangement and reinterpretation from the guitarist.
Sublime. Both Art and the guitarist take this tune to a different level.
Yes, exactly,
Paul Simon and James Taylor are both overlooked masters of the guitar. Paul's phrasings on guitar were so understated and beautiful.
@@flatonia nobody plays Paul Simon's songs on the guitar as good as Paul Simon does.
@@Lundy.Fastnet.Irish_Sea I agree about Paul. That's way I didn't use the phrase _higher level_
It's just different, but it's Paul's baby.

What a Voice...love it since I was young!!

One of our favorites. So lovely with your sweet angelic voice.
his harmonies are effortlessly beautiful
i agree :)
there is no harmony when singing solo
but the gold plate reverb is cranked up all the way
A brilliantly crafted song, sung beautifully by the master.

guitardds Yep.
Completely original voice, for sure!
Icey??? Never, just sweet and forever angelic. I love Artie, what a Voice!
Art garfunkel , has the most soothing, soft. voice ever! listen to him since i was a toddler! Nobody can say other wise!

Evocative and beautiful. I think of it every spring, especially here in North Carolina, where spring is like no place else.
England, where every day is unpredictable!

Que linda canção, os anos passam e continua linda, emocionante, cantada por um excepcional músico

Hauntingly beautiful
Perfectly described. So much of Paul's music haunts me. Someone once told me he thought Paul was arrogant. I think he has a right to be.
