And I have! Over and Over and Over for FIFTY YEARS. It was my boyfriend and my song. Unfortunately, he was a foreign exchange student and had to go home. Our love story was an early version of The Notebook, with the WRONG ending.
I lost my girlfriend to mental illness in October 1973 when this was first released. My girlfriend could sing this song beautifully. After her break, the song was still on the radio and it just about killed me to hear it. I recently learned she had been pregnant at the time of her break and our baby was lost. The lyrics "all my plans depend on you" and "endings come to fast, but they pass too slow" sounded like they had been written for us. Every now and then, I listen to it and remember her. Though the song is very sad, it is about all I have left of her, so I have come to love the song. Thanks Art for recording it.
+Jerry Sims I'm so sorry for your loss. This song has always felt to me very sad and as such has moved me to tears on numerous occasions. To have it tied to such a painful but nostalgic memory must be a very difficult thing to deal with. My heart goes out to you.

I love Art Garfunkle's brilliant interpretation of this Jimmy Webb classic. Webb is simply unbelievable, what a catalog!! "By The Time I Get To Phoenix", "Up, Up and Away", "McArthur Park" "The Worst That Could Happen", "Wichita Lineman", "See You Then" "I Keep It Hid" "Didn't We" "Do What You Gotta Do" "Galveston" "The Highwaymen" and.............."All I know"
"Endings come too fast, but they pass so slow" .. Brilliant lyrics by Jimmy Webb. Anyone whose been in a relationship that failed, can relate. I certainly can!
Who's still remembering the magic of Simon and Garfunkel in October of 2020? The best music has already been written . . . I'm content with it for the remainder of my life. ❤️

Poignantly moving... What a beautiful voice... Also great piano player... In typical Art Garfunkle unselfishness, he gives pianist a showing in this video too... He was always the absolute epitomy of gentleness...
Art has such a beautiful, airy quality to his voice, perfectly matched to this song's lyrics. Oh, but the Twin Towers...I wasn't expecting to see them. Takes my memories back to when times were much simpler...
Thank u Art for your wonderful songs, i can listen to you in any day any hour and never get tired of it, the impact that you have given your fans is beyond words, GOD BLESS U Always.....
This song has travelled with me early in life, and seen me through so very many losses. Most painful being the love of my life.. The endings always come to pass, they come too fast, and they pass too slow...so true..and that's all I know! Awesome tune
Linda Bergman I have always thought the same Linds. Especially when the crowd goes wild after Artie sings Bridge Over Troubled Water & give him a standing ovation. Paul would get very angry & jealous. He should have been proud that he had such a great singer to sing the song!! Artie is the best!!!💕💕💕

Great song from the 70s. I'm in NY and i'v never heard this song on the radio. I heard it in a supermarket last year and wrote down some of the lyrics and looked up the lyrics on Google and thats how i found out the name of the song.
This is likely the #1 love song on my list. I was a Freshman in college when this song hit the charts in 1973. My girlfriend had dumped me earlier that year and taken up with someone else, so when ever I hear this song, I flashback 48 years and to everything during that year. Have long since 'moved on' after the breakup but the song is pure emotion. Now in my 60s, I still can smile and remember the emotions I felt and I thank God for leading me elsewhere in my life. This song will still be #1 for me.
The instant I heated this song I was transported to a simpler time in my early life ,a time before the weight of life pushed me down .. I shared a small apartment with a young lady. -a wooden building with tin roof . We would lie in bed and listen with the rain fall in our small tin roof … of course it ended as much young experience do .but it brought a tear to my eye .. a simpler time when all things were possible ..I miss it
