MY 1988 Honda prelude has the same problem, thanks for making my life easy.
My 2009 civic si was having the same issue. I was going to change my clutch as well, but I took a different route. I inspected my master cylinder and slave. It had low clutch fluid so I added some, then bleed my slave cylinder and adjusted the clutch pedal. After doing that my car goes into gears smooth.
We’ll see how long it holds up. Really hoping it’s not my clutch that is bad.

How often should the clutch be replaced?
Also mine it will shift just fine when running at idle, but then when I'm moving it is SUPER hard to get it from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd. The rest work fine.
I bled the system it has plenty of fluid...

I’m a Honda enthusiast. I have owned many. I just bought a 07 accord and same issues.
This is a tip. Putting a Honda in reverse. Always. Always. Go in 1st. Then go over to reverse. And it’ll be smooth as butter every time. Thanks for your help boss !

Yeah I have the same car with the same problem. I'm more sure to replace the cluth or the linkage. One mechanic told me that the cluth is bad
This is one of the symptoms of my motorcycle clutch, not as bad but seems harder to get into gear than it used to be. Plus I sometimes feel it slip a little in 5th when getting on e way

PollieBear yeah car went through lot it was my friends car but it was good like 120k miles
RB The Mechanic miles don’t mean anything, I bought a clapped out 8 gen civic 5 speed with 140k miles on it that was beat the fuck up then I realized it wasn’t worth dumping money into so I drove it into the ground within a year, now have a 8gen accord v6 6 speed with 200k miles on it that was well maintenance and drives like new
My 08' civic goes into 1-5 easy, but its a bitch to get it in reverse. Just started this morning. It feels like I'm going to snap the shifter off pulling it into reverse. Dont know anything about transmissions.. Any help?
Could it be a shift linkage problem? I replaced the clutch and am having this issue. I was able to force 2nd and reverse when on. Also when off trans doesn’t want to go into 5th gear. I have a 06 accord 3.0 6 speed. I did play with the shift linkage when trans was off the car. I didn’t know it would cause an issue.

once your in there replace the pressure plate clut bearings u can buy it all in a kit and take a look at the fly wheel replace it or resurface it
My 2000 Honda Accord has been doing this exact same thing…started to be hard to put into gear only when running and when off goes in like butter
Update: it was the clutch and I got it replaced along with the throwout bearing, and rear main seal at 250k miles

I have a mustang gt 6 speed mt82. When I turn it on after a night of sitting I try to shift into reverse/ 1st and it’s really hard to where I have to mash it into gear or try it couple times till I grabs. Happens alot but then sometimes it goes in alright after letting it sit for like couple seconds but not always. When it warms up it shifts great just when its cold is when I’m having problems. Please help thank you !
U have to check the shift linkages and see if there bottom on the shifter knob is worn out that’s usully happnes lot on these
My mustang same problem and clutch new. And transmission mission was changed. Is it my adjustable cable I put in for it?

Im having a problem where my car doesn’t want first anymore its really stiff but as long i avoid first its smooth and shift to other gear but when i try go back in first and try other gears every other gear gets really hard to put in
Check ur linkages grease then up but do check them have some on shift while u look under hood
My Toyota yaris has this same problem. Amazing transformation with the new clutch plate.

Same issue here sir. Ive already replace my clutch master and secondary clucth. I've already adjust the clutch pedal and bleed any of cylinder. No work at all hard shifting again.

My 1993 honda civic hatchback gears on a manual transmission is hard to put it in 1 and 2 gear even when the car is off...is it still the clutch?
Hard to say without checking but check ur fluid level and how many miles last clutch was changed
see my car has that same problem but in the first gear and reverse, does that mean I have to replace the clutch disc
Jacsuel Lopez it might be ur shifter or cylinder or it can be transmission but it need to be properly diagnosed starting with the shifter knob
My husband and I changed the clutch discs and we are having troubles shifting when the car is on. We smell a little bit of burning smell. It had the same smell of burning before we changed the clutch disc.
Carrie Bill you might have bad slave cylinder or maybe it needs bleeding also there is adjustment might have to check few things and do adjustments

I have a problem with my pressure plate and after I bought the new pressure plate and I put the same clutch disc with the new pressure plate but it's a problem of hardship in the gear and I don't have a speed as I should

FreeKanal that might be the synchronizer but do check out ur clutch if u haven’t done it I would do it before going crazy
So did you drop the whole subframe, or just split the engine and trans? My 07 accord's clutch engages really low about an inch off the firewall. No leaks, from master or slave, and it does not slip. But the dealership says it needs a clutch job. Is there an adjustment i can do to make it last a bit longer?

Hi I just changed the clutch kit, flywheel, clutch master cylinder and reverse and one is still getting stuck. Very hard to change

What if it wont shift into 1st, 2nd, 5th and reverse while the car is off?

Check for proper clutch slave cylinder engagement since u got it done he should be able to look at that it could also be the shifter links

lots of things to check but I would remove the links that go to trans mission you can easly see it from the hood look right below by the brake booster if u got the same car and then have some one shift the gears if it dosent move smoothly then ur shifter know had problem under Neath it

when they change my old clutch was no damage almost good but i did changed because was slip no much power

Got a 1999 manual accord earlier today shifting from first to second and it wouldn’t go in at all😹 had the slave cylinder replaced a while ago cause it went out and it was the same thing I think so do you think it’s the hydraulics again or something else? Wouldn’t go into any gear while running and while off until I finally was able to get it into first and I was able to get it into second and drive home. Kinda started drifting away even with the clutch fully in when I popped it into first. It’s had the same clutch for 220,000 miles so it’s possible it’s the clutch finally going out but it hasn’t been slipping and I rev match pretty much perfectly to put as little wear as possible on it so idk. Thanks.

@@RBTheMechanic alright thanks I will. During some of my reading up I had seen that might be it but for them to all go out at once I’m lost on what it could be because clutches should slip before they go out😹

What if when cold it shifts into gear good, but once at hot operating temp it gets hard just like here in your video? But when off, it shifts all gears good?

@@RBTheMechanic test drove car today and now it's good, even at high temp, but won't go into gears at high rpms lol. Either way, I'm tired of this and just going to change the clutch either way. Thanks for the video.

Shifts just fine, but whenever I to race the car and shift at high rpm, its like I'm forcing it into gear. I have a stage 1 XTD performance clutch that was put on probably 6-7 months ago and a a check valve delete. Any tips?

I’m having similar issue with a 98 civic, but it only seems to happen after the car has reached operating temperature. Before that it shifts fine. Would it still be the clutch?

mine drives fine on cold days but as soon as it gets like above 24 degrees it’s hard to shift

I can’t make a claim on that but u need to check if the slave cylinder moves also if u haven’t done clutch and it’s been over 80k miles time to do it

Clutch can’t be put in wrong it wouldn’t accept it or it would close up and align the transmission when installing but slave cylinder could be an issue
My ranger is hard to get into any gear only when it’s at a stop once your rolling it will go into any gear easy it’s has 800 miles on a eBay clutch I wonder if the pressure plate is bad also when u push the clutch in it will not disengage the gear sometimes also if u park it on a hill an leave it in gear while engines off an u press the clutch in it does not roll
Try adjusting the peddle maybe it’s not traveling to engage and disengage

Please can you help me I have this problem but when I'm driving, when I'm climbing to 30mph its fine I can change gears easy as not revving hard. But when I'm trying to get to 70mph so revving harder it wont let me change years until my revvs come down if that makes sense. I only bought the car 3 days ago and noticed this straight away. Please can you give me any idea on what the issue could be and roughly now much it would cost to get it fixed as I've just spend 1500 on the car so dont want to spend loads to sort it. Thank you
Sasha Richardson ok this type of problem would need to be test driven... it can be bad clutch like 1200$ job it can also be the cylinder but this need to be dignosed by test drive why don’t you get an opinion by local mechanic

My accord shifts hard when hot! Is that a clutch problem. It's ok when car just started.
Check ur fluid first

EggMan it might be bad clutch or the slave cylinder but this is problem that needs to be experienced when was the last time clutch was changed

EggMan yeah some times if ur cylinder dosent press properly it will hesitate and stall the engine try check check fluid level also u can adjust the clutch cylinder by the peoddle

Caroline Price it can be clutch how many miles r on car. Somthing like this need to be driven to say what it is

My 93 escort wagon just started having difficulty going into gear, not sure what the issue is, occasionally while driving randomly it makes this rattling noise, like there's loose metal jingling, is it a indicator of something????

Roberta Springer try putting car in reverse while car is off let me know if it clicks in to gear? If it dose then try puttin lt in gear while engine is running also make sure u deep press the clutch peddle and make sure ur carpet is away

Jeremiah Brooke that can be lotta reasons it can have bad synchronizes that are not letting the gears grab check if ur shifter knob is not worn out
Jeremiah Brooke it can able be possible that ur shifting in to 1st gear and all the others is smooth because it’s already in motion how many milages ur car have and when was last clutch changed

@@RBTheMechanic the cv axle just broke..me and a friend bought at autozone a new one and replaced and within 10 miles that one snapped as well

@@RBTheMechanic I had it repaired. Now the clutch is very easy to press. I really don't know why though. They also replaced the slave cylinder though so maybe that was part of the problem.

07 v6 accord it want shift at high rpm only after the rpm drops so low

My shifter wouldn’t go into gear so I forced it and now it won’t go into any gear
U have to check the linkages I’m not able to imagine what could have went wrong might have to take it to mechanic

Check to see if slave cylinder engages to start of it could be it’s not back off

The dealer replaced the clutch and said everything was fine. I’m going to call and ask if they checked the stuff you mentioned. Is there a way to check myself?

My 2008 Elantra had the same issue. It mainly happens in the morning for the first 20min of driving. Then I'm good for the whole day without any problems. I changed the transmission oil, and still the same. Next step I will bleed the break fluid hoping their is no air pockets. If that doesnt solve the problem, then I will replace the clutch master cylinder. Anyone get back to me with your feedback.
Cas Dirico teah tray that they also might have adjustment by the peddle for clutch if all is check and still has issue it might be clutch
@@RBTheMechanic the clutch is fine, it's not burnt or anything. I've seen bad clutches on other cars before. My hard shifting only happens every morning for the first 20mins of driving, then its shifts like normal. Tuesday morning I'm bleeding the lines making sure no air bubbles ( back breaks were changed in June, so probably they didnt bleed the lines the right way ). I will update by Wednesday morning and see if that fixed the problem. If not...then plan B ( havent figured what plan B is...lol )
