If ever I have pairs that lose interest I split them for a very short period of time, either with a divide where they can still see each other or with fellow sex birds, so if I have 2 pairs who it happens to I'll out hens together and males together, literally just a week and then I reintroduce them and it seems to work. Your young yellow sounds like he will be a beautiful single factor yellow, I've had 4 this year and they are stunning birds when they molt. All the best Chris 👍

Love your videos..a tip you can try in breeding your gouldian finch.. give them dry grass/straws for the males to build a nest inside the box.. this really helps get the female into top breeding condition also.

Hi. Best way is to have a few pairs of society/bengalese finches in breeding cages along side breeding goulds. Pull the gouldian eggs and slip them into the society finch nests. The society finches raise the gouldians. Gouldians are not nest builders, eggs get crushed. They also like to toss babies.

Great video, thanks! I have Zebra Finches but love seeing the Gouldians. New feather mama here so don't know if this would help, but maybe try a new nesting material to entice them? Hoping ypu get some new chicks soon!!!

Got myself quite a surprise today when in my local chemist, a fellow customer seen my Bird Nerd tote and asked if this was Chris, the Bird Nerd on TH-cam... such a small, small world... he also follows you and breeds finches, we go and have a look at his setup next week sometime... Thank you Chris for being here, I would never have met this man without you... Thanks for the Tote and Cheers for sharing...

I love your videos, I've been watching them for hours now. Maybe you need to move the couple that got scared by the storm to another cage. Maybe the female feels unsafe to breed there again. But Maybe i am totaly wrong. Greetings from Germany

Hi, great video. Can I ask why you put the wicker and the box in ? Do they not lay one in one box and one in another ?

Love your video. I have a question about gouldian genetics. I put a split AVB green back cock with a split blue green back and they had 7 offspring in two clutches, 4 were green and 3 were blue. Some of the offspring have white marks under their chin like a split Australian yellow. Is it possible they are spilt for AVB ? Cheers Joe hope you can help

Thanks for reaching out. I have never heard of AVB. Help me understand what that means and then I should be able to answer your question.
