How did you make your finches tame? I might want to get a finch ( I have done LOTS of research! ) I am kinda worried that when they get out of the cage they are impossible to get back!
@@daphnemuurling5690Finches have to be tamed from a young age, tipically when they start flying so at about 20-30 days old (search on how to tame them) From what I know you can't buy baby finches from a regular animal store, therefore you should not buy them from an online market as they need parents to grow! So you can buy two or more finches of opposite genders that can breed, and you should buy separate cages for them just in case they fight eachother, now you can't keep finches in a cage forever, so if you fear them not coming back to their cage, you shouldn't worry: Just keep your finches in their cage for a week with plenty of delicious seeds and food, and unlike commonly said, that nests are only for breeding, you can buy a nest for finches that are the same gender in case you don't want them to breed, as the nest, even if they can't lay eggs inside, they can find safety and comfort inside of it! After they consider the cage the heaven of food and lazyness, they will return to their cage if they are freed to fly around the house, but always check so that you don't have your windows open, and when I mean always... ALWAYS, stick notes to remind you if needed as finches can't survive in most environments!😊 You can feed finches fruits and vegetables, but don't feed them too much as they can contain high sugars (banana as example) and high liquid compositions (tomatoes as example), if you feed them too much of them they might get diarheea and it's pretty deadly for them as they are sensible birds, if they get diarheea, you can get them bird medicine, most stores don't have such medicine so you can buy stomach powders meant for human babies, and put a low amount of it in their water! Never keep finches in cold climates, always assure they have warmth especially if they have finchlings/babies, parents will do everything to keep them warm and might end up suffocating them by accident, also never expose finches to sudden temperature changes, keep their home clean to avoid them getting a disease, again there are special powders for a variety if diseases in some pet stores, if you find them always ask a professional on how to administrate them to your feathered friends. If finches lay eggs that don't hatch, they might be infertile, and it could be bad luck or permanent infertility, but when they lay eggs you should buy them a cuttlefish bone ASAP, they need calcium so they don't eat their eggs, and if they eat their eggs, don't get mad at them, they either are stressed or crazy or they realized their eggs are infertile, their eggs should hatch in about 14-20 days Also, you shouldn't try and tame adult finches, they can get stressed and get air sack mites like shown in the video, do anything you can not to scare them aaand, *a shortcut to the taming process is buying a tamed finch from an online market* Sorry for writing this much but I just love animals and I hope it helped you out, if you have questions you should ask me or a professional.

I got zebra finches a month ago. Got them a cage and a little bird house to hide in. Basil the male finch made a nest and they used to sleep there together. Yesterday Grunya the lady-finch got very sick. I panicked, held her in my hand for warmth, I had no medicine they advise on the internet, came home from work to find her like that. Some people advised to put oil onto her butt so I did it, although I tried to look into the nest and it seemed empty. When I returned her to the cage she seemed a little livelier. And then at some point she got a lot better. She ate and drank, and today she looks totally fine. But I see that she spends much more time in the nest, and mostly alone. Is that normal? Or is she sick? I don't think they are supposed to breed, it's winter and my window looks to the north.

You need to give them huge space, a lot of perches and food bowls. and never breed them together. Always separate the couple. I don't have problems with fights honestly.
