you know it's going to be a good video when you see a CTS-V wagon as the cover. I'm one of the lucky few to get one with a manual transmission. took almost a year to find. It was worth the wait love the car.
the regal is an interesting choice, and the IS F is really a solid pick, but the CTS V is the way to go, crazy power and handling all for less than 50K
CTS-V wagon was the most surprising thing to ever come from Cadillac stables. I expect the CTS-V and the current one of brilliant, but a hot 500hp+ wagon...in America...with a stick. Seriously this car is like an enthusiast wet dream.
Shahul Usman I've taken my manual V wagon to Tahoe in the winter with snow out. it wasn't enough snow to need chains but enough to want to be careful and it was fine. it's all about the tires you use.
Just a note - 500 was the number of CTS-V wagons with a manual transmission. They sold somewhere between 3,000 and 4,000 CTS-V wagons total, with the auto transmission models included.
I own a SX4 AWD stick shift. I remember seeing it at the NYC Auto Show when it first came out. I was impressed and even more impressed at the price after talking to a Suzuki rep. Bought me one a couple of years later, love that little car!
I really dig the ZDX - I'm in the market for one, but I'm waiting to find a 2013 with the black exterior/black interior combo...the ones I've seen for sale all have either the white interior or ghastly brown leather.
When I was a teenager I had a cousin that owned a Buick Regal for a while. Not real sure why he got rid of it. I remember it rode real smooth, quite and comfortable. Up until then I didn't know cars were made that rode that smooth.
Cars that start out smooth, end up sloppy as they age. People then put stiffer struts on, and sports tires, so it becomes both sloppy and rough. Not that they're especially bad at it per se, great actually compared to a Regal from 30 years ago, but GM sedan'/coupe suspensions do not age well.
12'-14 Chrysler 200 V6. Underappreciated. Complete sleeper. I owned 2 first gen and I currently own a 15 AWD... I saw your review and at this altitude, it was pretty amazing to get a 6.x 0-60 time. I work very close to your main office in Boulder.
2009 Suzuki XL7 AWD I highly recommend for the list. Rented one in May '09 and drove it from Seattle to Whistler B.C. and damn it was a really fun vehicle to drive.
TyGamer125 nah, it’s a overpriced G8 GT....You could get a used G8 GT and put $8k-$10k into it and have a MONSTER. I know someone that did that and was pushing a little over 450WHP and drove it for 140k miles before the motor blew. He ended up stripping the original power train out and selling all the parts, threw another $8k into it and got a LS3 Stroker and added a supercharger. Yea, he’s pushing 900WHP now. I do love the SS but it was just too expensive
@@YoursDadsMomDaddy the SS is NOT an "overpriced G8 GT" It is a slightly over-priced G8 GXP. Huge difference between the two. And yes, the SS should be on this list.
i agree with you. i have never heard anyone say anything bad about the g8 after they owned one. it's a great car if you can find one, but it's not underrated.
I had Sx4 manual. Loved the car. Family grew and had to get something bigger. Can even get a spacer kit for it to give it a little better ground clearance
I don't even know what's fast anymore.... Because you guys call everything fast. We need to have some type of standard. You call a 15 second car really fast, then call 12 second car really fast?
Who can say what is actually real world fast anymore? My 2013 Chevy Captiva sportwagon (only available for fleet sales, after model year 2012. It is a continuation of the Saturn Vue crossover) has a claimed 0 to 60 mph time of 6.4 seconds, running a 2.4L four cylinder engine. Used to be in the 1990's that sports cars achieved under 6.5 seconds for 0-60 mph. ...though I would not want to pay for fixing it, after doing that kind of acceleration everyday.
I've got my eye out for a manual V70R. Such a quirky car, looks like a hearse, that spaceball shifter is so cool, and the T5 makes a pretty interesting sound
If they offered the 300 in Hellcat trim I would own one the second they became available. 6.1 SRT8 is kinda meh. The CTSV Wagons are holding value if not going up. The people that appreciate them are willing to pay.
Love the video! One comment I have is that you can get a rx-8 for much less then that. I bought one with 40k on it for $7,000, fully loaded and bought another one with a blown motor for $1,500.00. $1,500.00 for a rebuild kit and you have a kick ass track car for $3,000.00.
I recognize that road from the Red Rocks Amphitheater at about minute 1:30. I remember as young "men" we replaced the pedals in a Big Wheel with a straight axle and headed downhill through the "twistys" on the road directly east of the trading post starting from the gravel parking lot. Thanks for the memories and thanks for the tips. On a different note, why no mention of the MX-6GT?
Hey guys, thought you might like this. My father-in-law developed the famed 2.5l BMW engine (in US 2.8?) so I would go through at least a dozen cars a year. One discovery was putting the eight cylinder, new and on the autobahn the clips on the air filter reliably ‘pop off’ or the Z1 with no radio because an antenna would have compromised the ascetics. And the wildly unreliable doors; imagine turning left and the right door goes down and your groceries fly out the door. The CEO of DuPont said it was a mistress car and I told him “it was a car and not an aquarium”. Take care, your all great
I find anything toyota, lexus, honda, or acura to be too expensive due to how well they hold on to value. I also seem to find the best bang for my buck with used kias. The warranty is so long you can find them used with a warranty still left plus they plummit in value quick making them an absolute steal for used cars! I have also found I actually like most of them and they are really getting better every year. I also like the Hyundais but they are starting to hold onto value better than kias even though they are made by the same folks.
I once test drove a used Volvo V70R and was very impressed. It was very comfortable, it had all the creature comforts, it was low mileage and in good condition and it was no snail-pacer. I made the dealer an offer and he very politely told me to F**K Off, so I increased my offer and got the same response. So I asked what his bottom line deal was and he said it was the asking price, because he said he knew he could shift it at that price. I have never purchased a car for the asking price and decided to leave it. I kept an eye on it and it was sold within a week. Now I wished I had swallowed my pride and paid top dollar.
I appreciate the info on the Cadillac Wagon as a good used buy. I did not know they existed. I've never trusted Cadillacs since the 1980's, always wondering why the 1970's were their best decade.
My girlfriend work at a place that used several sx4 s-cross daily. She says their horrible. Noisy and rattle sounds everywhere, also uncomfortable suspension. Grand vitara and vitara was more comfortable and less noisy. Their worst work car was a awd fiat panda.
I'm so surprised and excited to see the v70r on here. Just picked one up for less than 4k and it may only get 18 miles per gallon but it get at least that in smiles per gallon
I think that a Gauntlet mashup of normally aspirated little cars -- Kia Soul 1.6l, Mini Cooper, Fiat 500, Heck -- even a SMART car would be funny. The challenge to see which car can even get to the Eisenhower Tunnel without having to shift into 2nd gear and do the run in under 15 minutes.
M1MyRifle i do. i like hatches. i have a subaru build right now. its a wagon though. not sure its considered a hatch. i did see a photo of a honda crz type r. if thats happening im all over it.

Hello guys! Hey that little Suzuki was a great little SUV! My nephew has one he beats the snot out of and the thing just keeps running! On the beach and trails! All he did is add slightly bigger wheels and tires! Suzuki had made some very interesting cars/SUV in the past. One that comes to mind a friend owned that I cannot remember the name, but it was sort of a Camry sized sedan that cane with a great 2.5 liter I think inline 6! That was smooth and revved high, not a lot of power but a smooth runner! Also that Acura was a very nice underrated car! Along with the weird crossover thing they made around the same time!
We're lucky here in Aus, as we still get the 300 SRT8 (now with an 8sp auto) and we have the HSV Clubsport R8 LSA wagon which is very similar to the CTS-V :D
Hey guys, Ole man joe here. I am pushing 80, a senior. Is it ever going to be possible again to have a split bench seat car. I have gained a few lbs in my fanny, and i also have roids, and neen a comfortable seat, not a submarine seat that cramps me up. I am serious as a heart attack, ok. It is really bad when you used to have some options, and now no options at all on the seats for us old folks. So let us know if and when you can make a video that has some cars for us or at least super good used cars that have those values, like an Old Merc grand Marq , impala, Buick park ave. Those i look at every time i get a chance. I may not ever buy another car because I am almost 80 liking a couple of years. Well, most enjoyable Boys. It was informative about cars, most of which I had never heard of here in Civilised Europe, and the chemistry is still good. Look forward to the next. Finally, you should do one on supercar supercheaps like the Lexus LS 400 and the Mitsubishi GTO / Dodge Stealth. I think for a tiny sum you could fill your collection with some VERY interesting and nice cars. Regards. .
steve jobs exactly. To the untrained eye, it's just another car. But realistically it's a 400 horse muscle car. Ls2 or the g8 gxp is packing a ls3. Even the gxp grand prix had a 5.3 v8
A used 4-year-old XKRS is like in the 70's here...and most are in the 60's in the states too, there's an XKRS GT for 135k used USD...where can I get one for 34 lol? Beautiful car though maybe they've gone up, love your reviews!
Infiniti G37's are so much fun for the money. I'm surprised they didn't make your list. They're basically 370Z's with two extra doors and a non sadistic suspension.
I do think the Pontiac g8 got should have made the list. It’s a true sleeper and does well as both a road and track car. Its biggest flaw was no available manual trans on the gt only the gxp
Not sure what criteria you are using but I would include: VW R32, Pontiac Solstice or G8 GTP. Surprised Nathan doesn't have Hyundai Genesis Coupe on there. If you really wanted to dig, Lincoln LS.
have an RX8 in our 'stable' needs 5K spending on it to replace the clutch and steering rack (noise at full lock) , the Bose Stereo system hasnt worked for years (known fault, keeps trying to eject nothing) burns oil like its cheap and has done only 100.000kms, .....now for sale!
Alexander Senna dude a simple nationwide search on CarGurus revealed multiple. The 3 states I mentioned are the ones where I saw them in the $30-35k range.

Aw man let me buy it :( I’m in Detroit!
what fantasy world do people live in where 40k is affordable?

Shahul Usman snow tires. no problem
Just a note - 500 was the number of CTS-V wagons with a manual transmission. They sold somewhere between 3,000 and 4,000 CTS-V wagons total, with the auto transmission models included.

I like the ZDX a lot. It looks great with aftermarket rims and wider tires
Where do you find a cts-v wagon for 33-35k? They are 45-50 since they decided not to make a new wagon
Should've put the Chevy SS on this list
Agree'd!
I really dig the ZDX - I'm in the market for one, but I'm waiting to find a 2013 with the black exterior/black interior combo...the ones I've seen for sale all have either the white interior or ghastly brown leather.

Speaking of Suzuki, I say add the Kizashi! That's an awesome little AWD alternative to Subarus and whatnot, and personally, I love the look of em
CTSV is simply the best. The standard of the world.
UnitedRecording HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAH what a joke
The CTS-V is ridiculously good.
UnitedRecording
I don't know about it being the standard of the world, but it is a great car, and it deserves respect!
You obviously haven't actually driven one. While it may not be the "standard for the world" it is not far off the mark.

Previous BMW M5 with the V10 future classic
no one I was going to say that.
no one the e60 m5.
Thanks for the comment. You could be write but this list is only of cars that we've reviewed or driven. We never got our hands on the BMW M5.
You could be WRITE⁉️ Jesus Christ, guys, get a bloody grip❗️😯😯😯
Write? Right? Rite?
the opel. is our replacement for the holden commodore/ chevrolet ss now. v6 twin turbo 4wd
You guys should have done the Cadillac STS-V
4.4L V8 Supercharged 470hp
You can find them for less than $20k and they only made 2,500 of them.
definitely under appreciated
John Jones what year my dude
John Jones I agree wholeheartedly, best crossovers ever made.
1/1/18, You can keep the Cadoo, I had 1 already.............worst overrated/overpriced pos I ever had. Now I have a FORD.
2009 Suzuki XL7 AWD I highly recommend for the list. Rented one in May '09 and drove it from Seattle to Whistler B.C. and damn it was a really fun vehicle to drive.
Victor Hinojosa The problem is that I just bought a 4x4 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee for $7000. Pay more for the Suzuki?
Ever since I laid eyes on that wagon, I been a fan of fast wagons.
Chris G love it.
Dodge Magnum - another fast wagon
I like your "no bias aproach" when giving informative info on vehicles. As it should be.
Chevy SS sedan should've made the list i feel.

Right on with the Volvo V70R! I bought a 2005 with the M66 manual transmission a year and a half ago and love it.

Most people don't get the BMW X6, but most people don't cruise the autobahn in the left lane.
CC and Wally don't like jeeps. maybe a 535d
Why do you need a huge ugly heavy grotesque car to do that? Plenty of cars that are actually good can cruise the autobahns.

Just wagons/hatchbacks in general, it's sad that no one in NA buys them :-(
I agree. Somehow everyone just wanted crossovers/SUV's instead.

Finally, you should do one on supercar supercheaps like the Lexus LS 400 and the Mitsubishi GTO / Dodge Stealth.
I think for a tiny sum you could fill your collection with some VERY interesting and nice cars.
Regards.

2006 Pontiac GTO. 10 to 15 grand. LS2 400hp
Lance Jackson really surprised the GTO isn't on here
Joe DiCocco because those aren't underrated
Lance Jackson My dream car ! I would trade my STS V in a second for one
All pontiacs look the same after 2006. Please convince me that they are cool. They all seem to look bland to me
steve jobs exactly. To the untrained eye, it's just another car. But realistically it's a 400 horse muscle car. Ls2 or the g8 gxp is packing a ls3. Even the gxp grand prix had a 5.3 v8
i agree with you guys about the cadillac. if i ever decide to live in america again, Im buying one of those.
A used 4-year-old XKRS is like in the 70's here...and most are in the 60's in the states too, there's an XKRS GT for 135k used USD...where can I get one for 34 lol? Beautiful car though maybe they've gone up, love your reviews!
This summer, for you own health, please do a bicycle review and ride bikes to get in shape. We want you guys around for a long time!
Great segment!
I love the Jaguar and the Buick
Infiniti G37's are so much fun for the money. I'm surprised they didn't make your list. They're basically 370Z's with two extra doors and a non sadistic suspension.
Dustin Skye but they aren't under apriciated
Thanks for mentioning the 2012 Acura TL. It is possible to get one of these with FWD only. Excellent video. Thnx, Tony
CTS-V wagon is seriously one of my favorite cars in existence
I do think the Pontiac g8 got should have made the list. It’s a true sleeper and does well as both a road and track car. Its biggest flaw was no available manual trans on the gt only the gxp
CTS Wagon!I biding now! Tomorrow i will buy.Thank you guys!!!
I'll throw in the P Solstice and S Sky in GXP / Redline trim, an absolute steal at today's prices.
Not sure what criteria you are using but I would include: VW R32, Pontiac Solstice or G8 GTP. Surprised Nathan doesn't have Hyundai Genesis Coupe on there. If you really wanted to dig, Lincoln LS.
That Jag is a stunner, I would love one!
Have you considered getting better microphone setup?
Great to see the CTS-V wagon getting a spotlight, too!
t. European Cadillac CTS driver
thanks guys I agree 1000% the cts v wagon is amazing.
I'm very excited for the come back of the V70.
These guys are shills.
Lexus ISF is beautiful still. CTSV with a manual is awesome. The Chevrolet SS should make the next list for sure.
I'm excited for the Regal wagon coming soon. Hopefully it'll be available in GS trim. Great video guys!
Matthew Longtin is that happening? I haven't heard anything about that.
Fiat 500 Turbo. Hits the sweet spot between the Pop and the Abarth. I drive my wife's and I enjoy it every time.
Fun Fact: The VW Touareg is a total sales hit in Germany. You see them everywhere. But most of them are Diesel-powered.
have an RX8 in our 'stable' needs 5K spending on it to replace the clutch and steering rack (noise at full lock) , the Bose Stereo system hasnt worked for years (known fault, keeps trying to eject nothing) burns oil like its cheap and has done only 100.000kms, .....now for sale!
Give Nathan a raise plz, let him get rid of that outlander for TFL sake
Amazing video man
the v70 r was actually pretty good round corners you just have to learn to drive around corners UK traffic police used them
i think another car to buy right now (if you can get it in good condition) is a 1981-1983 Datsun 280zx turbo.
one car I think should be on this list: Chevy SS
TFL cars has listed the Chevy SS on another video about low volume cars worth buying.
XK-RS going for around $34,000? where???
also the XK-RS had around 550Hp
This is exactly what I want to know...best prices I've seen are ~$55,000
Alexander Senna California, Florida, South Carolina
send me a link please. since you mentioned multiple states i assume you have seen more than one
Alexander Senna dude a simple nationwide search on CarGurus revealed multiple. The 3 states I mentioned are the ones where I saw them in the $30-35k range.
this makes me miss my Magnum
CTS-Vagon... Hopefully my next V. When I get tired of my 2005 V. But I don't think either will happen any time soon.
