- Meall Nan Tarmachan and The Tarmachan Ridge circular walk! The Meall Nan Tarmahan ridge trail is perfect for those new to Munro Bagging Scotland or for those who just want an easy hiking trail to follow. Plus, the views are simply stunning!
Meall nan Tarmachan is a mountain in the Southern Highlands of Scotland, located near Killin just west of Ben Lawers. It is the only Munro summit on the Tarmachan ridge, which includes Meall Garbh, Beinn nan Eachan, and Creag na Caillich. Meall nan Tarmachan is 1044m above sea level and is in the Loch Rannoch to Loch Tay region. It is one of the easiest Munros to reach in good weather thanks to a high level start point at the Ben Lawers Car Park. The car park charge is £3 all day or free if you're a National Trust member. The Munro Meall nan Tarmachan is just the start of a rocky ridge traverse which is one of the most interesting in the Southern Highlands. The car park is at 400m, making it an ideal Munro for beginners. Meall Garbh has a narrow ridge and an avoidable rocky scramble on the descent.

Beautiful day and incredible adventure friend.

These could be scenes right out of a Fantasy movie; the landscape is harsh, but beautiful. No wonder Scottish mythology is filled with fear for lurking monsters, ghosts, etc., waiting to strike at every opportunity, and to gobble up the weaker part of the population. I also had a sense that no matter what summit you conquer, there's always something else around that is even higher… Impressive video footage, Paul! Thumbs up! Full watch. Kind regards, Paul
Hi Paul, it seemed to look a little less green than it should. It seems the type of place that would be different each time you went especially from season to season. I'm not sure I'd want to climb to the first summit in snow tho. There was mountains all around on this hike. The one close by, which I did last year, Ben Lawers is the10th highest Munro in Scotland. I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views from the hike. The 4k capture certainly helps. Thank you very much for taking time to watch and comment. Have a great week 👍Paul
Wow, Amazing.... Even though there are no trees, the view is so amazing, friends. I love adventures like this.
A very quiet hike in a good weather.Magnificent views everywhere

Good atmosphere. Stunning view on the top. Nice walk. Big like Paul L101
It does look like an easier trail than many, Paul. Just as beautiful too! Stunning views from the summit and all along the way. I'd be a little concerned for Kathy on the ridge though. Oh hell. Me too! Thanks so much for bringing us along.
Again we're sorry for falling so far behind. We'll get back on track in about a week!
Hi Dave n Kathy, I think the ridge on video looks worse than it was or is it me just used to doing bonkers things like that 😂 It sure was a great few hours out in the mountains. I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views. Thank you very much for taking time to watch 🙂👍Paul
That's cool Enjoy your trip. And thank you very much for the great support 👍

Hello Paul. What a spectacular scenery ! The mountain looks relatively gentle and easy to climb, but the rock stairs at the end are very steep. But it's wonderful to see this beautiful scenery.

Hi Amie, I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views. It sure was a great day out in the Scottish mountains. Thank you very much for taking time to watch and comment. Have a great week 🙂👍Paul
I like the sound of streams and chirping birds at the beginning. The weather is good and as always, a stunning view at the summit of that rocky mountain.
I also enjoy hearing the birds sing and the sounds of water. They become less frequent as you get higher and then it's sheep usually. The weather was great which made for some fab views. I'm so glad you enjoyed the captured views from the hike. Thank you very much for taking time to watch ❤️Paul

Hi, my best friend!! nice sharing amazing walking video in Munros!! It's Great!! shuimKorea stunning!! 👍34
Awesome upload, wonderful video sharing.keep safe and stay blessed, greetings from Virgina.
Another fine hike in the heavens my friend. Enjoyed seeing the peaks and especially the valleys. The time lapse was very cool, watching the cloud shadows crawl across the landscape. The craggy crevices on some of those ridges would give me great pause my friend but the views you got while walking them was impressive. Thanks for taking us along for another lovely scenic hike.
Hi Darren, i'm glad you enjoyed the captured views. It sure was a great day out. It was good to chill out on the last summit taking in the views whilst doing the time lapse. The ridges weren't too bad but you did need to watch your step in places. It sure is a hike I'd do again. Thank you very much for taking time to watch. Have a great week 🙂👍Paul
The day is wonderful. Pretty nice trail most of the way all be it with pretty massive elevation gain but of course that is how you get the views. Surprised to see the lake just before Meall Garbh Summit but then a small creek so could filter water if needed. Beinn nan Eachan seems like a pretty good victory. Love the views. Thanks for taking us along. Cheers Paul. 🤠👍
Hi Mike, I'm glad you enjoyed the views I managed to capture on the hike. This was an easy trail to follow but some steep climbing in places. The weather was a hikers dream and it's also great to see the sky reflecting on those small lakes in the mountains. Thank you very much for taking time to watch and comment 🙂👍Paul
Thank you for showing the wonderful scenery in Melanie Tamachan. The mysterious appearance creates awe of nature. Thank you for the awesome video
Another incredible adventure, these views are so stunning, I would love to explore places like this, you’re so lucky. Thanks for bringing us along & have a lovely week

Yes buddy, great work exploring us through this super amazing nature.... Keep up the great work 💪💯
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thank you very much for watching 🙂👍
Cracking views all around mate, cant believe theres still some snow on some of those peaks. Perfect weather for it, you got lucky that day!
It was a super day for views. The type of weather you want when hiking. I'm not sure how that snow survived. Thanks for watching 👍
A Hermit's hiking paradise; not too many people on those beautiful mountain trails. A little narrow ..14:00 ?? Ah..Mindful hiking..lol Yeah....perfect for "the beginner" :-))). Thanks Joking Hiker for taking us on another wonderful adventure! Beautiful views indeed! 😍
Hi Tracy, this sure was a great walk for a hermit. That's why I love hiking the Scottish mountains. Tho it might not have been good tripping and falling off the narrow ridge. Tho the crows might enjoy that. I thought this was a good beginner walk, did you not 😂 I'm glad you enjoyed the views captured from the hike out. Thank you very much for taking time to watch. Have a great week 🙂👍Paul
Beautiful hike Paul and I must say you certainly had the weather for it. Absolutely stunning views. Love the timelapse too. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Chris, yeah it was pretty much perfect weather for hiking and views for miles. I'm glad you enjoyed the ones I managed to capture. Thanks for taking time to watch. Have a great week 👍Paul
@@TheHikingHermit I watch from start to finish, every one Paul.
This looked great Paul and I really love when you do these mountain tours because you really explain things well and show us the route and views and it seems so natural. This looked stunning. Glad you are careful though 😳
! I loved the views heading up to the 3rd summit Couldnt watch much as we are back out camping but leaving a big like👍Love the look of this place I think you are one of the best of who we follow that do mountain hikes. We do a lot of hiking and camping but never video it , we just video historic places so its great to watch when you do these ~ Anna 👍
Hi Anna, I hope you've been enjoying the camping. I'm so glad you enjoy the mountain hiking videos and the views I capture. I do try to show any pitfalls and what to expect for anyone else should they want to do the hikes. I also try to be as careful as I can while hiking. I'd say I have a healthy fear of heights which means I don't take undue risks. Thank you for taking time to watch and the lovely comment. Have fun camping 👍Paul
Great premiere and a cracking route that Paul, there is something to be said for these Munros! ❤
Hi Nick. I love hiking the Munros and this one was an awesome route. John who I hiked some of the Cruachan Horseshoe with recommended it so kudos to him. Also they're usually very hermit friendly except for the popular ones like Ben Nevis. Thank you for coming along for the premiere. Have a great week 🙂👍Paul
@@TheHikingHermit thank you Paul, still in the market for an extended weekend away in September. We have the Alps booked in late September and October for our main holiday. Scotland is just too far away for us unfortunately. We do love it up there but we have to go for at least a week to justify the full two days of downtime getting there. Our options for our mini break are the Lakes, Snowdonia and Asturias. I love all three.
@@GENerationXplorers yeah I wouldn't go to Scotland for anything less than a week. I've got a big trip coming up at the end of August. Hitler's Eagles Nest here I come...amongst other places. The trip that got cancelled on me in 2020
Very beautiful view
Wonderful video ❤
Woww such a beautiful location and views at the high elevations!! What an amazing adventure..gotta visit!!
It sure was a great few hours out in the mountains. I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views. Thank you very much for watching. Have a great week 🙂Paul

Good morning, friends! What an amazing and great adventure hiking vlog this has been, do keep it all up too! Stay safe and stay connected~
Fabulous video, thanks for sharing. I just did Meall Nan Tarmachan last week but heavy clag came in just before reaching the summit sadly obscuring any views. Was still a great walk and look forward to going back to do the ridge. You got a cracking day for it. Thank you for sharing 🤩👏🥾🥾
Hi Corinna, this sure was a fabulous day in the hills. The weather was a hikers dream day and loved every second of it. Pity about the clag coming in to obscure your views when you did it but it's one I'd do again for sure. You have an excuse to go back and do it now, not that any is needed for this one. Thank you for watching and dropping me a comment ❤️🥾Paul
Hello friend good video friend

Drat! Sorry i missed this. Looks like s nice hike.
Another beautiful day with glorious views. The little patch of snow looks so out of place. Ha ha.

Enjoyed seeing the peaks looked good view, great adventure !! 21:07 👀👀
stunning views as always thanks for sharing :-) (watching from Penang, Malaysia ) :-D
Hello Paul, I am not sure what looked better the granola biscuits or the views....LOL. That narrow part was incredible up there. Amazing wide open views. Looks challenging for sure but doable.
Hi Nicole, well I usually carry a few granola biscuits so will have one spare if you want one 👍It was great day out and the narrow part perhaps looks a bit more narrow on video than it was. I didn't feel too exposed but I could be used to it. I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views and the weather certainly helped. Thank you very much for watching 🙂 Paul
So beautiful ! Great video, nice sharing👍 Like
I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Thank you very much for watching 👍
Hi Paul! Wow, those mountain views were absolutely stunning! To quote the Carpenters (lol) "On top of the world, lookin' down on creation!" A great hike for a hermit, for sure! 👍😊 I also enjoyed your narration and explanations. Thanks for taking us along ❤
Hi Julie n Lucy, it was a great day out in the mountains for a hermit. That's why I love hiking the Scottish mountains. I'd say Carpenters, who are they but I'd be lying 😂 It was fab weather for the views. I don't half do some waffling when I'm out. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thank you very much for taking time to watch. Have a great week 🙂👍Paul
Enjoy walking the beautiful landscape, love it..live watching..thanks for sharing
Hi Dann, I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views from this hike out. It sure was a beautiful day for it. Thank you very much for coming along for the premiere. Have a great week, my friend 🙂👍Paul
it has been nice to watch your adventure in Scotland such a beautiful country
Absolutely stunning scenery, this looks like another planet! Absolutely beautiful presentation my friend!
I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views. Scotland sure is a great place for hiking. Thank you very much for taking time to watch 🙂
👍60 Wow, so beautiful!! If I hike there, I may take more time to check out the views behind me than to go forward. Great hiking footage! Thanks a lot for sharing.💕🌺🍀🇨🇦
I love hearing your foot steps at the beginning. I can imagine when your alone out there how peaceful it must be and the soothing nature sounds you get to enjoy. The mountains a very beautiful and the views around make me realize just how incredible our earth is. Must be a full day out when you go for this type of hike. Thanks for another great adventure! 👍😊🇨🇦
Hi Christine, yeah I love hiking on my own. People ask do you not get lonely. The answer is how can you be lonely with views like that. I was only out for about 5 or 6 hours. Fantastic few hours tho. I'm glad you enjoyed the crunching footsteps and the views I captured from the hike. Thank you very much for taking time to watch. Have a great week 🙂👍Paul
Man, that view just keeps going. HAHAHA. It doesnt stop. LIKE 57. 👍👍👍
This sure was a great trip out into the mountains. You could see for miles for sure. Thanks very much for taking time to watch 🙂👍
wow i can"t say anything more about that place sir its a beautiful clear place for hiking
Among the hiking courses you've been to so far, it has a gentle slope and few rocks.
Of course, the scenery is amazing. It's like looking at the ancient landscape. It's beautiful.😍😍
Thank you for your efforts. Have a nice and healthy day.💖💖
This one was a good one for beginners hiking some of the higher mountains. I didn't need a map for this one. It was an easy to follow trail in the main. I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views and the weather certainly helped with that. Thank you very much for taking time to watch 👍
Great stuff! 😄🎞 The wait for the next video will be worth it! ⌛
More beautiful areas
The views and the weather were perfect!
Phong cảnh đẹp quá
Hey Paul, sorry I’ve just got round to watching this one fully. What a fantastic day you had though! Stunning views right from the start and it looks a great trail for a first Munro for hikers. Does look steep at times but the path looks good to follow. Love the stubborn snow that remained despite that blue sky. Why wasn’t i as lucky with the weather on my last trip to Scotland 😅 Definitely one I’ve added to my list. Also it looks so quiet up there!
Hi Yasmin, this one is a nice easy one as far as Munros go as the car park is at 400m so you're only climbing for about 650m to get to the Munro. it's almost like a Lake District hike 🙂 It was a fabulous day out in the mountains and the weather certainly helped. It was also quite hermit friendly. Another good one from the same car park that is pretty much all path but more climbing is Ben Lawers and Beinn Ghlas. Thank you very much for taking time to watch 🙂Paul
