Passenger Trains Around Shrewsbury in the 1980s

On a warm and sunny Saturday in 1989 our camera crew, rather than head directly to the station, went out and about in the Shrewsbury area intent of capturing scenes of locomotive-hauled passenger trains. The majority of these services as can be seen here, were class 37 hauled and the locations were to the north, west and south of Shrewsbury are depicted as shown with subtitles below each clip.

Excellent footage
Shrewsbury was an absolute mecca for class 37 hauled passenger trains on summer Saturdays in 1988, with three pairs on Aberystwyth and Pwllheli diagrams, and also two 37/4s on the Marches (due to unreliability of the then new class 155 units)
