Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

I found access to a nice area on the creek that runs thru my town. I used to fish it a lot behind the football field. After a n ew dam was built in the river a few miles downstream the the water raised like 5 or 6 feet and this area of the creek is not far from the Ohio River. The creek is very clean out the road about 6 miles all the way to it's beginnings and a state park lake over flow actually dumps into it so it had plenty of fish in it. I quit fishing it decades ago because the river was so polluted. When I fished the river as a kid the only thing that could survive was carp and catfish. This is the rust belt. The banks of the Ohio from Pittburgh to the Mississippi were li9ned with steel mills, coke plants, coal mines, plating plants and chemical plants. Chemical plants are still alive. Not a whole lot of anything else. There are shipping ports an d suck. Any way I rediscovered a very nice place now that was not accessible to me when I was child because I couldn't get down in there. The city built new ball fields out there and there is a nice 100 yard or of beach type gravely creek bank instead of mud. A nice channel on the far side, some good rock structure, some shallows and deep holes. Perfect, I'm still a little concerned about eating anything from there because of the proximity to the river. The city dump was in that are also but further down stream. Not there now. I'm sure that ground is polluted as hell though. That area was a dump for nay decades. The river up here is much cleaner than it used to be. Even the eagles are here now and plenty of them.

I tend to use worms more often as it works best for catching anything, (Caught a 32 pound Flathead on a single Nightcrawler this year) but lures work better here in the Tulsa, OK area for White Bass, Stripers, and Sauger....Great video!!

Worms were always my go to bait but you got me interested in the little plastics. One day I caught perch, smallmouth and a northern pike all on a 1.5 inch chartreuse curly tail grub. I think all the smallmouth I’ve caught have been on one of those. I really like not having to rebait every time and not having to worry about my worm supply.

When using worms next time buy yourself a worm blower to fill those crawlers up with some air. That way they float up off the bottom and you have a better chance at catching more fish. It’s a classic technique amongst hardcore trout fishermen.

Just bought my first Bobby garland plastics and like how they work. Thanks for sharing what you are fishing with because I’ve been a jig fisherman for years and didn’t know about the 1/48th ounce! I started using a foldable kayak made in USA and you could have used that where you were fishing because it weighs 28lbs and slings over your shoulder. Just a thought to allow you to get access and not go through all the trouble of the yaks you normally fish from. Please continue to share the lures and your rigs that you go with because it is always fun to learn different techniques. It looks as though you used a split with the live worm to mimic a Carolina rig. Can you share the hook size and whether you like circle hooks or not. Thx!
