I use my Ferret to scan structural components and scan architectural decor in buildings. I worked with him on roofs, in attics. I went up stairs with him to the crowning cornices of facades, etc. All this became possible due to its small size and its work with a smartphone. The accuracy of the scanner is quite enough for my purposes.
Hmm I would put my development money into the Otter/Raptor and advance these scanners further. Or use the money and hire more developers for the software. There is still no orthogonal view or a way to close holes manually available. Other than that I like my CR Raptor. For a V2 consider giving it a higher FOV in NIR mode please…
Being an absolute beginner with 3D-scanning and awaiting my ordered Creality CR-Scan Ferret Pro, I believe that closing holes is rather easily done with MeshMixer, just another tool that I need to learn in the process. The price has now dropped to close to 300 euros, so that I ordered one today. I have a Da Vinci 1.0 Pro printer, which does its job well. A scanner will certainly support me in all kinds of "projects" in which I need a drawing to get me started with replicating parts. I'm a physics engineer, lacking hands-on experience in machining parts, but I'm prepared to humbly learn from my mistakes and carry on. I recently bought a mini-lathe and milling machine from Proxxon, so that there is no excuse left anymore to get going (except lack of spare time, of course, as this is all still a hobby and not a daytime job).
