  • Cliffe Knechtle has a good dialogue with students at Texas State University. Recorded in October 2017.
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

What he said applies to all sinners. His cross might or might not be heavier than that of others, but that we ALL have to carry our own cross to the gates of the Day of Judgement is inevitable. Pretending there is no God or that God is JUST love and has no rules/laws for us to follow, is self-condeming.
Repent for the Day of Judgement will come upon us ALL. No excuses will be of any use.

That homosexual has such a better understanding of God's grace and salvation than a lot of people might realize or want to admit. He understands the constant struggle/battle between the flesh and the spirit. We all battle the flesh and will continue to do so until we get our glorified bodies. God bless that man who turned to Christ.....he is absolutely right homosexuality is no different from adultery, prostitution, porn...basically any sexual activitie outside the marriage of one man and one woman....is wrong.
This is a daily battle for all people... straight and gay, it's hard for people to wait until marriage or for a married man or woman to never look at others with sexual desires....so it's not easy for anyone!!
We all have messed up desires because of our flesh...but they always end up destroying us..it's true that we don't choose who we're attracted to but we certainly chose if we act upon those attractions or not... nobody forces us we freely choose to do it all sexual activitie is a choice...besides from rape obviously..
We would never suggest that an adulter was born like that... he could have ignored his attractions but he chose to act on them...well, it's the same with homosexuals, it's the act that is wrong, it's the act on which God judges us not the feelings that tempt us, the more we grow in faith and in a relationship with Jesus the more we start to have control over these temptations.... only by doing His will we can control them, eventually the temptations become less and less.
God never allows us to be tempted beyond what we can control so we really have no excuses...we can fully control our actions.

King of Kings So we are born perfect/innocent until we give into sin right? No one is born gay or born a killer, but you become either when you are temped and indulge in the actions, is this correct?
I never understood the ‘I didn’t choose to be like this I was just born this way’ argument, how are you born a sinner and how can your sexual orientation become determined at birth if you have no sexual attractions in the womb?

@@MsCameoLover why people turn out gay isn't exactly known, but there is good evidence to suggest it's beyond the control of a person, in other words it's innate. You are absolutely right that a baby almost certainly doesn't know if it's straight or gay, it's only when they reach their teen years that a persons sexuality is more pronounced and they may have more of a feeling towards a person of the same sex. Because it's frowned upon in many countries for religious reasons, that person is unlikely to come out as it were.

    • @GraftedOliveBranch

@@MsCameoLover yes... you're correct. Its the act of giving in to those sexual desires that make it a sin. I've always had anger issues through out my life, and sometimes i feel like killing someone if they really annoy me... its not a sin that i have that strong emotion of anger, and its not a sin that i have the fleeting thought of violence pass through my mind . But it would be a sin if i chose to actually take those thoughts and act upon them. Jesus said "hate the sin, not the sinner".

21:03 its an important question that everyone needs to answer; is there life after death and if so, do I care? Am I willing to stop sinning in this life to enjoy a peaceful eternity in the next life?

    • @bonnie43uk
      @bonnie43uk 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes, that's a good question Confetti, I don't believe there is life after death, I've not seen any credible evidence of it. The thought of being in an eternal sleep is quite comforting to me, I believe that's what happens when he die, it'll be no different to how you were before you were conceived.
As regards sinning, that is very subjective, what you might consider 'sinful' I might regard as absolutely fine.

    • @MsCameoLover
      @MsCameoLover 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

bonnie43uk What would you consider credible evidence of life after death, bonnie, if ya don’t mind me asking .

    • @bonnie43uk
      @bonnie43uk 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@Confetti Sprinkles. That's another really good question. Giving it some thought, I'd say, if a close family member of mine died. And I was certain they were dead, lets say 2 doctors confirm it ( my mother passed away 2 years ago, so if I use her as an example). She lived a long life, and died aged 89, I was lucky enough to be holding her hand when she breathed her last, an hour later her body was cold, there was absolutely no doubt that she had passed away. Lets say 3 days later she is laid to rest in her casket, and suddenly, her eyes open and she sits up, and she tells us that heaven exists, and gives us a description of heaven, I would find that pretty credible evidence.
But the fact is, when people have been clinically dead for a few days, they do not come back to life. All we have are claims from people, there is no credible evidence that I've ever come across. My mother did not come back to life, nor was I expecting her to. She is only alive in my memory. I suppose it's a nice thought to believe we live on in another existence, but that's all it is, a nice thought.

    • @MsCameoLover
      @MsCameoLover 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I pray you're handling her death well even after 2 years, I can't pray for the dead but I can definitely pray for those still living like yourself; not that you asked me to or anything, but just throwin that out there that 'RIP' is not biblical but I still want to send my condolences.
Okay so for you to believe that there is life after death, two years ago and three days after her verified death, your mother would have had to wake while in her casket and give you a description of the afterlife? Is that right? Basically, you want a redo of Jesus' resurrection, only this time you want it to happen to your mother and only then you'd consider following Christ/or acknowledging there's a god that has setup something after death. Let me know if what I said is correct so that I'm not just assuming anything
And also, if ya don't mind, could you please let me know your world view? Whats keeping you from killing yourself/what is motivating you to continue living?

    • @bonnie43uk
      @bonnie43uk 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You are free to pray for me, I can't stop you.. praying is a whole other aspect of Christianity that I have views on, in a nutshell, I don't think that praying has any effect whatsoever, only that it makes people feel as though they are speaking to God, when there is little credible evidence praying works. When the thing you are praying for does not occur, your mindset simply shifts to .."God is telling me now is not the right time" ( or some other answer), your thought wont be, "Hmmm, my prayer didn't have a positive outcome, maybe prayers are ineffective". Is there an effective way of testing prayer?, I don't think so.
With regards to an afterlife, well, you asked me what I would accept as credible evidence, I think a loved one that had died, and 3 days later that person comes back to life and tells me about the afterlife, that would be pretty strong evidence.
What is keeping me from killing myself?, lots and lots of things, there are far more things in life that I enjoy than things that I don't enjoy. I have a big zest for life, helping my fellow man and helping those who are less fortunate than me is a big part of that. I love life is the short answer.
What keeps you from killing yourself ?

Evolution comes from the word evolve from this to that.
As far as the origins of life: formless matter has always existed and it cannot be created or destroyed. However, it can morph from a gas, into a liquid, into matter, and from matter, into a liquid, into a gas.
Esotericists maintain that there is no inorganic or dead matter in nature. Occultism knows and teaches the one true knowledge, that has been from time immemorial, from Manu and Hermes down to Paracelsus and his successors.
Thus, Hermes says: "Oh, my son, matter becomes; formerly it was; for matter is the vehicle of becoming. Becoming is the mode of activity of the uncreate deity. Having been endowed with the germs of becoming, matter {objective} is brought into birth, for the creative force fashions it according to the ideal forms. Matter not yet engendered had no form; it becomes when it is put into operation. Everything is the product of one universal creative effort. There is nothing dead in nature. Everything is organic and living, and therefore the whole world appears to be a living organism."

In a physical change, a substance's physical properties may change, but its chemical makeup does not. Matter has the potential and does change from a gas, to a liquid, to a solid. You cannot destroy or create matter.
All that is, already is, always has been, and always will be.

Sorry Cliffe, but you are not correct in assuming that the "days" mentioned in the chronological order of creation mean anything other then the literal understanding of that word, which is a 24-hour time span. " Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work..., For in SIX DAYS [not six ages of time] the Lord made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything in them; but on the seventh day he rested. That is why the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy." - Exodus 20:9-11
God used the pattern of his 6 literal day creation and his resting on the seventh as our pattern of working on six days and resting on the seventh. If you use the day/age interpretation of "day", this pattern then falls apart.

For example the Bible says that in the BEGINNING God created the heavens and the earth. We now know through science that the universe is finite, that it had a beginning just like the Bible says. Science confirms what is said in the Bible, but what is in the Bible isn't scientific literature.

It is also very clear in Genesis 1 that these are literal days of Creation. There is no reason to spiritualise it away. The Bible is to be taken literally, and is not to be interpreted to fit our own preconceived bias. The Bible is just as straight forward and matter of fact about Creation as about the resurrection. It is only the evolutionary "millions of years" mindset that leads people to discard what the Bible is really saying.

We are the creatures. God is the Creator. Ultimately its an issue of obedience. You can choose to be autonomous, for awhile. Maybe &0 years, but more likely less. But because God loves you so much he provides a free gift of being in his presence and in his realm forever. He also loves you so much that he will not force you into his presence. All he wants from anyone is trusting loyalty. Loosing your dragon scales will be painful.. a good pain. A needed pain. No dragons enter paradise. Read the Gospel of John, openly, not with your typical arrogance.
Ask a simple thing of God. “If its true, show me!” But such an honest prayer will bring odd circumstances that act like a GPS. Its called providence.

  • @paulwilfridhunt

    The thing is this.
The God you don’t believe in, is probably the same one I don’t believe in either.
    Isn’t that interesting?
You are somewhat right when you say spirit, because actually God is spirit.
Here is the thing with God.
    God is unlimited.
It goes a bit like this.
If you went into the great eternal and became an eternal being, I am an eternal being, and every day as you travel through eternity you learn many new things about God, you would never exhaust the inexhaustible knowledge of God, for it is never ending.
And as space never ends, described as infinity, neither does the knowledge of God.
But until you enter through the door into the knowledge of God as I have done, you will perceive that, although it is the most interesting of subjects, that it will be of little interest to you until you become born again.
We don’t know what we will be one day in the new dimension called heaven. Presumably as we are made in the image of God, copies of God, the revelation of what we are will be is a never ending discovery. Whatever it means to be God is what we will one day be, but it will be a never ending journey of development.
That’s why God went to so much trouble to create us because the achievement is so great. He creates God’s. it’s not just for this life and eternal life but actually it’s to become like God. Similar but inferior. We will always worship and adore God who made us. Our creator.
The trouble that God went to, entailed the manifestation of God as a human being, Jesus Christ. He did all this knowing full well that he’d be crucified. His love for us is so great. But many will succumb to the temptation to disobey Him and rebel in all its various forms inclusive of atheism.
Jesus Christ is the only way.
It’s too hard and too much for many people because they feel too humbled to accept God in that format of the humble man Jesus Christ, who was God in the flesh. Yeah baby.
Before a person becomes a born again believer in Jesus Christ the idea of being God is quite appealing. But all that changes once you become born again. Our desire for personal greatness diminishes, so much, that the idea of becoming the God we are created to be, doesn’t appeal to us anymore.
God is spirit. No one has ever seen God. He is without form.
In order not to restrict our understanding of what He is, He reveals himself to us in a particular format.
And that format is in the form of the written word. Hence the Bible.

  • @paulwilfridhunt
    @paulwilfridhunt 6 ปีที่แล้ว

In our realm and also the realm of the angels, free will reigns.
Whilst free will causes problems it potentially can also create mega opportunities.
To some extent we are in the guessing business, although we have been given guidelines for our thinking by Jesus Christ who rose from the dead.
This is an answer. I’m not saying it’s the right answer. But having said that, it does fall within the guide lines given to us by the sage of sages, namely Jesus Christ.
The free will enjoyed by the angelic realm became perverted by some of them. They rebelled against God. This resulted in being cast from their heavenly abode to a new place called earth.
Their ultimate destiny is to be destroyed, however to ensure that all the onlookers, other angels, could see that this divine decree was just, it was appropriate that their demise should not happen too quickly, in order for others to really understand the harm that evil actually accomplishes.
Hence this is being worked out here on earth.
However this great fall of these superior beings created an unprecedented opportunity for a lesser creation called mankind.
If mankind was created and placed in the same environment as these fallen beings that are unseen, man could potentially rise to Godhood.
Although this rise would always be in a sonship role. With the creator always being greater.
However the carnage would be great.
The fallen ones in their hatred of mankind, jealous of mans potential destiny, would wreak havoc in an unprecedented scale leaving a trail of destruction. Sickness. Death. Trials. Famines. The list goes on and on.
But, above all, the fallen angels would tempt man to rebel, in various forms inclusive of atheism, against their maker.
In your case you have obviously succumbed to that temptation.
    God’s choice was simple.
Should He create man and place them in such an environment?
If man succeeded and overcame the temptations of the tempting ones he would gain eternal life and journey onto Godhood.
God weighed it up in the great scales of life and pressed the green button.
He reasoned that everyone has a chance if they will but take it. Therefore it’s fair.
He sets man into a world of heartbreak and misery, knowing that a sufficient amount of them will make
the right choices and overcome the tempting ones, and thereby gain their inheritance, that you are carelessly throwing away.
When He created man He said,
Let us make man in our image.
    Image means a copy.
You are made in this image but you have forsaken it. Therefore you won’t get it. That’s fair isn’t it.
If you reject God as you have done, should he accept you?
How can He accept those who have made themselves unfit for paradise.
You reject Him and therefore He rejects you.
But unlike the fallen angels whose demise is fixed and cannot be altered, you are different. Repentance for you is still possible.
The longer you leave it, the harder it is to do
To repent you must fall on your knees and ask God to reveal Himself to you, as He has done with countless thousands in the form of the word, and tell Him that you will play ball and do anything He wants you to do.
Too difficult? Too hard? Feel too foolish? Ok what’s new? That’s where I was at. Thats where most people are at. They can’t do it because they are just like you.
    Nothing is impossible for God.
If you get on your knees and seek God and cry out to Him, He will eventually reveal Himself to you, as He has done for me and countless others.
    The reward is worth it.

But saying this, ALL SEXUAL SINS is a sin against GOD/Me outside of marriage between a woman and a man.

If we should ever wonder why Satan rebelled against God in heaven, we should really look no further, than at today’s present day atheists.
    The similarities seem identical .
The self inflicted temptation to disbelieve in God’s existence, can tempt some, inclusive of Satan, formerly named Lucifer, to not believe in the existence of the invisible God, using the excuse that He cannot be seen.
They allow this excuse to tempt them and of course to that temptation they have succumbed. But they are grateful of this temptation for they greatly love it.
Rarely does a atheist, who once believed in God, ever return to his original belief.
This happens because of a highly delusional intoxicating mind expansion, which invokes a mindset of such a greatly improved self image, that to walk away from it, seems impossible to break away from, or too hard to bear.
Whilst they don’t see it in the format of the following analogy’s, nevertheless the honest atheist can relate to them.
    Here they are.
Can the world’s richest man throw it all away and become a pauper?
Can a man leave a feast and clothe himself in rags and become a starving beggar?
Can an intellectual genius regress and become a simpleton?
These analogies will strike a chord with the the brave atheist who will acknowledge that walking away from their atheism would be akin to being smitten by the effects of above mentioned analogies. This is why they can’t seem to be able to walk away from it. It’s too much for them.
Be mindful that these are only analogies and that there are many wealthy believers in Jesus Christ including giants of intellect.
If Satan couldn’t change, and he really is a genius of the highest order, although bound for hell, how then can atheistic man of less intelligence prevail against himself?
Miracles do happen but invariably they don’t. Once an atheist, almost always an atheist.
We must assume, because it makes sense, that the most persuasive ones of the remaining angels, being two thirds of that realm, would have begged Lucifer to reconsider. Surely this would have happened. However they didn’t prevail. Lucifer was impervious to their reasonings.
For it happens here on earth too, as we, who do believe in God, try to persuade those, whom we beg and entreat, to not be opposed to believing in God.
But, what would we be, if we didn’t try to reason with the atheist, who like Satan has lost his way.
Yes our discussions with them are presumably futile, however it is because we elect to discuss with them their true state, which they won’t face, that our own understanding of their predicament increases. And also, we must do what we do, because it is the right thing to do in the sight of God.
Noah was a preacher of righteousness and so too are we, if we tell others to fear God and keep His commandments.
    2Peter 2:5
And spared not the old world, but saved Noah, the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly.
Noah warned with his ark which brought happiness to the
antediluvian world until the flood came. But before the flood arrived Noah cheered up all those who entered not into the Ark.
The building of the Ark was hysterically amusing to those who were yet to perish in the flood, that was to cover the whole earth.
I am not a political person at all but seeing people laughing hysterically at the notion of Donald Trump actually becoming President rings a bell. Their shock and disbelief when he soared to victory is a wake up call for scoffers.
Noah’s building of the Ark was a non verbal preaching in wood, in the form of the ark, being a preaching of righteousness, of God’s coming judgment upon a sinful world.
    2nd Peter 3:3-7
Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming?
    Jesus Christ shall return.
    1 Thessalonians 4: 16-17
For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God, And the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17:Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
As Noah cheered the scoffing people with his Ark, so too do we with our hope, cheer the scoffers of today.
    Titus 2 :13-14
    Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14: Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Sin isnt temptation, sin is acting on it. If u are tempted to sleep with the same sex, and dont fulfill that desire you have not sinned. Not all sins are equal but sexual sin is all bad.

It depends on your denomination, I know Catholic. Concupiscence is not the sin, but even Matthew 5 talks about how thoughts can be sins. Spiritual Acts of Mercy are powerful and require little action and much free will.

Sin besets all of us. When someone says I was just born this way...the Bible agrees...We are ALL born into this world, sinners. Jesus Christ came to save us from our sins. John 3:16-18, Romans 10:9-10,13, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4

I love Cliffe, but I am puzzled by something: Is not the Catholic Church the church that Jesus Himself founded in Matthew 16 when He gave the keys of the kingdom to Peter? "Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” If Jesus founded a Church, then wouldn't He want all His children to be members of it? Isn't it more than just an "institution", as Cliffe refers to it?

The Rock that Jesus is talking about is himself. He is the Christ the son of the living God. On that Rock he builds his church. The church is built on Jesus and not on Peter. Simon's name was changed to Peter because he said it not that he is it. Peter wasnt Roman Catholic either. that church wasnt founded until Constintine in like 339 AD.

      Hello Seladen,
Hmmm. It’s funny how no Church Fathers saw it the way you do. There is not one who saw a distinction between Peter and the rock. If what you are saying is right, that Jesus is the rock, then what is the significance of the keys that Jesus clearly gives to Peter? What does Jesus mean when he says “Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven?”
Also, history clearly indicates that Constantine had great deference for the existing Church at the time of his conversion, and sought out its officers throughout his career for advice and guidance. Truly Seladen, you need to quit being told what history says, and start doing your own homework. Look up reputable historians and you’ll see. I do not know of one serious and reputable historian who thinks Constantine founded the Catholic Church.

Who cares what church fathers said? What does the Holy Bible say about the rock in both the old and new testaments? Moses stuck the rock and water flowed out. That was a symbol and type of what was to happen to the Rock on the cross. Jesus spoke of the house built upon the rock and strong foundation. He speaks of a life built on himself. Nebuchchadnezzars dream and the mountain carved without hands(Rock) destroying the human world kingdoms. That is a prophecy of Christ second coming and establishing his 1000 yr kingdom. Everytime the rock is mentioned in the bible it is referecing Jesus. now Constantine was the first Roman Emperor that allowed Christianity to be legal if you will. So how can the "Roman Catholic Church" have exsisted as you claim before him? considering He held the title Of Pontifax Maximus before he even converted? Or that all Roman Emperors all the way back to Giaus Julius Caesar held that title? It wasnt until Consitine's successor that refused it did it fall to the Bishop of Rome at that time? All the Apostles had "the keys" if you will. Thats what the book of Acts is all about and their power was taken away towards the end of the book example Paul being unable to heal people at end.

We all need to care deeply about what the Church Fathers say. Real Protestant scholars surely do. Keep in mind Seladin that the early Church always accepted the Bishop of Rome as head of the Church. For example, @ AD80, the Church at Corinth deposed its lawful leaders and it was the fourth Bishop of Rome, Pope Clement I who was called to settle the matter. He wrote “You therefore, who laid the foundation of the rebellion, submit to the presbyters and be chastened to repentance, bending your knees in a spirit of humility (First letter to the Corinthians, 57, 1). Keep in mind that St. John the Apostle was still alive at this time, but he was not called to intervene because he did not have the authority that Jesus had given to Peter, which Clement did. This, I shouldn’t have to say, was quite some time before Constantine. So you see, the Church was well established with Popes and Bishops three hundred years before Constantine.

This might be the first time I disagree with cliffe 😩 If God established night and day and then said on the 3rd day he created, what he created was on that day. I wonder why he's telling them the bible doesn't give the time?
