at first I was wondering if the chest poofed because the blocks under it broke but once he cut the chest in half, there's definitely no blocks it cant break. (which makes sense as its not doing a check for what block is there as it assumes its breaking a door)
The door knows where it is because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses Black Holes to generate corrective commands to drive the door from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn’t, and it follows that the position that it was, is now the position that it isn’t.

Precisely that! The two Bast statue variants (left and right facing) are on the same spritesheet, arranged horizontally. You -can- transmute with a left-facing Bast- it's just harder to setup than a right-facing bast, and they're functionally the same. So, right-facing Basts are standard.

why bast statue needs to look specifically to the right
(and now about my possible understanding, is that cuz left facing bast statue is different sprite in the sprite sheet, or cuz its normal sprite but flipped which causes some jank which results in philosophers stone not working)
Precisely that! The two Bast statue variants (left and right facing) are on the same spritesheet, arranged horizontally.
You -can- transmute with a left-facing Bast- it's just harder to setup than a right-facing bast, and they're functionally the same.
So, right-facing Basts are standard.
@@EthyrielY so you could have 2 paralel oposite facing philosophers stone machines which you can use to get items with different offsets from the same torch/lamp, interesting
I was using the Sandstone Lamp version and the bore just stopped digging down after about 100 blocks, even rebuilding it didn't cause it to dig any deeper. Still getting loads of doors though.
Great video! I'd recommend adding some background music though, as it make the video seem more "full(?)" if you get what I mean? I've seen that just some basic music that is *verrry* quiet but just loud enough to distinguish from everything else, can help the video by MILES.
You should really be an engineer Ethy, it would suit you well. Actually maybe mad scientest or morally gray innovator would make more sense :p
One step ahead of you! Mechanical Engineer who just happens to be good at breaking stuff in videogames.
2:45 yesss, the old chest duplicator
"Instead of having a drill bit, it's powered by a door, which also happens to be a black hole."
This is like something from Hitchhikers' Guid to the Galaxy
This man is this close to auto fracking in Terraria.
The Micheal Rosen meme got you another sub 2:00 , this video was really helpful and funny at the same time.
I will actually look into giving this a go on console sometike next week, will update you if/when I do!
What happens if you bore off half a demonic altar? Can you flood the world with hardmode ores?
actually
couldn't you do the philosophers stone to get conveyor belts
to then do this
*yea this is a bit convoluted but still*
...actually, you 100% could. I didn't actually think of that!
@@EthyrielY
professor: so this is how you make an omnipotent drilling machine, using a machine which allows to get (almost) anything within the game, it has limits when you can make it automated tho
student: but have you considered, using the machine which allows to get (almost) anything within the game to get around the limit to automate it
professor:...I haven't considered that
I miss you guys, Ethyriel and friends, doin terraria veteran gameplays. I want to watch you guys play getfixedboi seed.
No updates, but still finding out new thing (Secret fetures taht even the devs didn't know abou, aka bugs), well, at least we get new dev set
just wait until I add new timers to the game
(no seriously, I found a bug that adds new timers to the game)
