- BARBIE COLLECTION ~Today, sharing my Barbie doll collection that led to the Monster High doll house building fascination and collecting! Highlights are Happy Holidays series since 1988, Twilight and some Dolls of the World. Brides dolls are always a desire!
This spans many decades and they still bring me countless joy! When Mattel stops killing me with all the new MH dolls, I can backtrack and get a few Barbie's I hope to add! Those desires are shown at the end :) UPDATE ~ I have gotten the Statue of Liberty Barbie & changed my grail from Bob Mackie Empress Bride to his Madame Du Barbie.... which I have now too!

Since a teen, still in love with Barbie dolls, I had a dream to make an ultimate doll house. Time and a young daughter who got me into Monster High, changed that Barbie plan into a MH plan though. SO even though I still adore Barbie, I must admit MH dolls are way more varied, colorful and full of characters to make a dream 40+ room doll house for. Took two years, but it got done!

I never even knew which were released until they arrived under the Christmas trees of the past or my birthday :) I love vampire stories :)

Love It All!! This Halloween I found the Bride Barbie that your Brother gave you and turned her into a Zombie. Now I feel a little bad for rolling her around in my fireplace. Awesome Collection! It was fun seeing where it all began!
Thank you Goodie! That is funny! No reason to feel bad.., had my brother not given it to me, it is a pretty basic doll. And it's only because he was an adult that he didn't throw it on the roof or something like that! LOL That is what they did when we were young of course. Oh the memories I love from the dolls :) including the story of life trucking on!

have solo in the Spotlight. I bought them when I was a student in Birmingham (UK). Good memories...
I don't have many Barbie dolls but I do love them especially the 80's/90's ones. I collect Monster High the most.

Im going to make a video soon. I've been watching other collectors on how they organize. My collection work in progress. I have over 800 barbie dolls, 5 houses, cars etc. So its a mad mess.

I have several of the princess of the world dolls:
Ireland, Holland, Portuguese Empire, Dutch Empire, Vikings, and Italian Renaissance.
I've always wanted the Egyptian and Greek ones because those are my favorite historical time periods to learn about. The myths, the architecture, the literature, the inventions....
Oh we have a lot in common for those eras. Greek was a fav of Grace and I for sure. Clothes wise, I tend to get hooked into the victorian big dress types though :)
There is no doubt now, after doing all the Barbie stuff this past month, that Dolls Of The World is my favorite Barbie line. I hope to get more! But then... where the heck will I put them???? I think in this I showed at the end a wish for the gal from India... I was able to find the pink outfit for a reasonable price :)
THAT was fun Wendy. I enjoyed listening to the history behind each fabulous. gorgeous doll. I was stunned by the depth of your collection. I knew you were a Gen Xer (we are the coolest and last of the generations of people who really worked the hardest, had the best music, the best experiences and all with out a cell phone or the internet). I love the generation that I was born into. I am speechless about your collection. You have a nice speaking voice (this is known of a Gen Xer because we were each taught to never speak loudly and to be polite and intelligent). So we were the last of a super Generation. Our Generation was the best in collecting things and I mean QUALITY items and you just do not see that kind of care and affection towards the life of hobbies and taking them serious and this is one of our hallmarks of Gen Xers, but we also were the best at many things. Wendy, you are awesome again, to share your collection with us. You make this so pleasant and I sincerely mean that. So, I am going to email you so that we can keep in touch, okay. Another thumbs up for a super Gen Xer all the way. Each of us made it, despite what everyone thought of our future. We are here and we are quietly thriving in our own ventures despite the major changes around us. Have a good evening, dear Wendy and keep on keeping on with your bad self ;-) Peace.

I think of Barbie as the gateway doll. I was also 16 when I got my first collectible. I didn't even know I wanted it. It was the mid 90's and for some reason my mother decided to get the very hard to find Holiday Barbie. I found it before Christmas and I jumped up and down and screamed excitedly "I got a Barbie" repeatedly. I was not that type of person and never had that kind of reaction to a gift. My parents got me a Holiday Barbie every year after that for about 8 years. I stopped collecting for several years as I didn't have the funds, nor the room in my one-br apt. Then, at 32, my first year in my own house, I got a Wicked Witch of the East singing Barbie out the blue from my mom and it kind of started all over. I actually jumped up and down and yelled "I wanted her so much". I'd seen her when shopping with my niece, but kept passing her up as I didn't think I wanted to collect again, and spent all my spare cash on my nieces and nephew. Now, dolls (all kinds) are in nearly every room of my house. I don't know what it is, they just bring so much joy.
+LMB925 Wow! Tahnk you so much for this awesome comment L! This is such a touching share of a story. I love it! And I understand every bit of it too! So which Holiday Barbie was it? I am so curious? What color dress? DO you still have it? I tell you if you ever backtrack they have gotten very inexpensive on Ebay. Even the 88", the most cherished one because no one knew it would be a repeating collectable. I sometimes contemplate buying the first batch I opened and getting a boxed version. But then I hesitate because it would not be the one my Mom bought me :)
Oh those Wicked Witch ones! I forgot about her. That should be on my wish list too!! I loved her because she was so different!! Hence another for shadowing attraction to Monster High. How delightful that would be to have them all around the house. I can imagine it and LOVE the thought!!

+Super Buddies Forever It was the 1993 Holiday Barbie. Her dress is red, and yes, I still have her. I've seen how cheap they are on Ebay, but I'm still happy with mine. She's still in the box, even though now I know she isn't worth much monetarily. She's still very special to me being a gift from my mom, so I totally understand your comment about buying another not being from your mom. I agonized over not opening her when I was 16, but even with the deflation, I'm glad she's boxed. I can't imagine the condition she'd be in after 22 years of moving and just everyday life wearing on her.
It is interesting to see the prices of some of the dolls on Ebay. It's kind of sad, and yet, as a collector it make me so happy to be able to get some of the dolls I thought I'd never be able to afford. It's also nice to feel free to display them.
Thanks for replying and sharing your comments as well. I love seeing doll collections and hearing stories from other enthusiasts. For so many years I had mine stored in a closet, and fighting the urge to buy dolls, thinking I should be more mature. Now, I don't care. They make me happy, so they're all over the place. I had a bit of a rough year and the dolls were comforting somehow and brought me joy during a difficult time.
Yes, I get everything you are saying about the prices :) And also agree... when you have what you like in your collection, the monetary just does not matter. :)
And I also get what you say about having them in a closet. When mine were stored, I just sighed with desire to display them. And finally I can! We are nearing a loss of space for MH building soon.... so I think after that I will back track to some of those Barbies on my wishlist :)

Thank you Q!!! It's ok!!! As of the last year, I have been learning so much more and it seems opening is better for the dolls. The plastics on them disintegrate and melt and such. It makes me ponder opening them. I just love the way the dresses look though!! Its a hard call!
Is Barbie your main doll line to collect?
Super Buddies Forever it was monster high as my main line. I now not really a big fan of there new look but Barbie I always been a fan use to play with them as a kid but just started collecting in 2016. I love to open them n let them be free. I have dolls plus others now. Bratz, ever after high, fresh dolls, our generation, etc
Wonderful! Similar to me! Started on Barbie from a kid love...my daughter got me into MH and they are my favorite, nope for me on the reboot too... Have you seen the MH dollroom tour? I have a little selection, but not too much... space keeps me in check here and trust me when i say, i am blessed and thankful for the space I have to work with and my husbands patience to have them around.

Dream Bride was my first collector Barbie, I got her when I was 7 and it was from the grandma that passed away when I 10 so she's that much more special to me.

I used to have Spot Scene Teresa, the original Kelly, the pregnancy doll that you could remove the baby from the belly, but not Midge.

Alex kept on top of those Twilight ones as they came out. He shocked me on a few as I didn't know they were released. It was a "thing" between us, vampires. I love the story that he kept up with all of them because it meant something to him too.

My aunt has the 1990 Barbie, 1991 barbie, 1992, 1994, 1996, 2000 celebration Teresa, 2000 melennium princess, Mary Poppins, Nebraska cheerleader, and two barbies that I'm not sure about, but one might be a Valentine's day one. they were all in box, but my cousin and my sister and I were little, so we opened all of them. 😒 and the only reason I care is because I collect them now!! and when I said all the years of barbies, I meant they are the holiday barbies from those years

I'm only 16, but I hope when I'm older my collection grows as big as yours :) I have the holiday dolls from 2010-16, I have 2 'My Fair Lady' dolls , the William and Catherine wedding doll set, and a 1971 malibu barbie that i was so lucky to find at a second hand store in a shop, in its box and everything, and some other dolls I picked out because I liked them. I am so inspired now by your collection

Maravilloso. Barbie fue mi primer amor. Encontramos muchas muñecas de segunda mano y las hace más asequibles. Tienden a no ser tan alto precio aquí también. Siempre estoy triste que otros países, que pueden ser mucho más altos en el precio que nosotros.

Thank you very much Alexa!! Ya know its funny, because I had no idea they were so popular until I showed them on You Tube. My Husband had gotten them over the years for me just because I love vampire stories. He nor I had any clue he was onto such a endearing line.

+Super Buddies Forever i know right!!!!!!!! my facorite one well i have 4 lo and its the 1960s reproduction doll,dream bride barbie,empress sissi barbie and the 1940s barbie hall mark one. mostly i have my collection on my desk and two on the wall and the other two in my hair dresser.

Hi Gio. Well I didn't use all the money LOL I have been collecting the Barbies for about 25 years. So it is actually a small collection compared to many. And as I said in the video, my Mom buys me the Christmas ones on the top row. So 25 are from her.... And many others were also gifted to me over that span of time too. That would include all of the Twilight dolls. As for what I spent... I don't really know, never tallied. Just bought a doll when I seen one I liked and had the money to spend. People let their money fly away on many this.... This just happens to be my hobby 😊😉😀👍 Thanks so much for commenting and watching our channel Gio!

Dear Mama: I just beguin to collect Barbie dolls. One question: Do you recomended remain the doll inside the box or outside? Thank you very much. Confratulations for your video.
Hello! That answer is all up to the owner. They say if left in box some of the materials and rubber bands can destroy the dolls or dye will stain the bodies and such. On the other hand I just do not care. I prefer certain ones like the Holiday dolls in box because their dresses look better. As for other dolls I like to take them out of box and touch them.
If you wanted to resell, for sure they say keep in box for the most value.

@@SB4E.2 I found by experience to remove from the box as the clothing can stick to the box a tear. Also I move their arms and legs once a while so they won't freeze up
