The great Tony Bennett got it right when he said: “Great music doesn’t get old.”
I remember hearing this recording back in 1972. I was deeply moved by it then. Now, in the year 2023 at my age of 71, Donny Hathaway and his music here are as young and as powerful as ever. This is great music. And it is ageless.

I have never heard a song in my life that fits the black man more than this. The lyrics and Donny's voice literally pierce my soul more than anything I have heard in my life. He sings on the trials and tribulations so many of us go through, but at the same time he uplifts you and helps you. This song can have going crying tears of pain from hearing your story told to crying tears of joy knowing that there is hope and somebody is rooting for you, no matter how hard life has tried to convince you should be thrown away. This song stirs such a range of emotion that is simply amazing!!

Real talk, this sums up my life right here.....the silent pain that us "Little Ghetto Boys" have to go through is real when we lose our fathers to the streets, listening to this song really hit home and now this "Little Ghetto Boy" is a successful Man with my own family who I love and would let nothing happen to them.

This music never get old and boring. i play a bass guitar and when I bought this album in the 70dys my desire was to learn the bassline to this song played by Willie Weeks. i think he was 17 when he started playing bass for donny hathaway. I'm now 70 years old and i finally learn how to play the bassline to this song and it wasn't easy getting all the licks Willie played but I got now after playing bass for 30 years.

Walking the crazy streets of L.A. late at night after work. Watching all the bullshit that happens on a daily basis, wonder how the hell i made it outta there during the 90's. Its a miracle.

Just to think I always wanted to move to CALI back in the early 80s, but I was single and had a young son. Then I was hearing about the GANGS, CRACK and corrupt LAPD. Second thoughts telling me keep my black ass right where I'm at, soooooo glad I did. Years later after my son graduated from college we went as his graduation gift.

Even at the pinnacle of his career, Donny was still that little ghetto boy, trying to outrun his demons, the constant pressure of fame, and the ever present reality that at any moment he could once again be just another black man in America. I hope you are finally resting peacefully, Donny. Love you always.

No a matter what ,I still believe in people,no matter how much badness I've seen. I pray that it doesn't always got to be rock bottom for people to do the right thing. Yet still bad people doing bad things to them ,for that simple fact they are good people

One of my all time favorite singers. But he's more than that. He's like family to me in my heart. And, this song (and album) was there when I needed it (back in 1972 when my life was very scary and crazy). I only wish I could have been there for Donny. I still weep at his loss to this day. I do believe though, that I will see you in Heaven Donny by the same grace of God. Maybe we'll get to do a tune or two together.

    THE LATE AND GREAT
    DONNIE HATHAWAY
THE LYRICS TO THIS SONG HERE IS VERY POSITIVE
    ENCOURAGING WHICH
    IS TRULY "A BLESSING IN
EVERY LIFE LEARNED LESSON" AND SOMETHING
THAT I HONESTLY APPRECIATE AND I WAS ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH
QUITE A FEW GOALS IN LIFE WHEN I HAD A BROKEN RECORD OF
    NEGATIVITY MOST OF MY
    IN MY LIFE, AND THESE
LYRICS TO THIS SONG I WILL NEVER FORGET
"YOU GOT TO BELIEVE IN YOURSELF IN ALL YOU DO,
YOU GOT TO MAKE IT BETTER FOR YOU, THEN YOU'LL SEE HOW OTHERS
    WILL START BELIEVING TOO"
AND I'VE LEARN TO SEPARATE MYSELF FROM NEGATIVE ENERGY AND
    ESPECIALLY NEGATIVE PEOPLE.
DONNIE HATHAWAY I DON"T WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT YOUR LIFE ENDING
YOU WE'RE GENUINE AND A GREAT SINGER, SONGWRITER, AND MUSICIAN, DOING WHAT YOU DO BEST. R. I. P.

      Reda Schulz thank you and no offense taken :) It is a Yoruba name meaning;
Ifaleke-Ifa ( The Word of God) makes me victroious in life
Ogunda-Tokpa- Ogun (The Deity of metal, war, technology, and guardian of truth) comes to seal the kill
OriTegunse-My Ori (Personal God of Destiny) was manifestest through the greatness of my Ancestors and also means my Ori makes me victorious...
In the Yoruba people, name have literal meanings..so I give thanks for it....and so it is...Ase!
