LIVING LEGEND, Ms. Patti 'BADASS ' Labelle just buried her sister on the same day she shot this video. The tears are very real. All three of her sisters died of different cancers before they were 45 years old.
She said she filmed this video the same day her sister was buried so that’s why she was dressed in black.

This was the closing them song to 007 License to Kill from 89. This soft and sensual banger really reminds me of my late HS years.
There are basically Three legs to Patti’s career (that I know of). 1st: Patti Labelle and the Bluebelles, 2nd: Labelle (the group) and 3rd: her solo career. Not to mention all the collaborations she was involved with. You should react to something from all three careers. The only one who can sing this song with this passion and involvement is Patty Labelle, in Celine Dion's version while it is very beautiful it does not compare to this, + as if Patty Labelle sang My heart will go on, it would not be the same
The song that closed the disappointing James Bond movie featuring my favourite 007 Timothy Dalton, License To Kill. Unlike the title song, this one actually fit. They were so big on ballads around this time that it landed in a Bond film - a revenge film no less.
I suppose this DOES suite the end of a James bond film,
BUT is technically too good as a tack on, pushed to the back of a formulaic Spy thriller. I assume that it was written for the film
actually it suits the end of the film very well and dovetails with "Licence to Kill" a great opening song by Gladys Knight. LTK by gladys sets up the film from the pov of a woman who pledges to stick with bond through thick and thin, even risk death to help him,save him.
In the movie, actress cary lowell one of the better more resourceful bond females does just that, saving 007 several times. this song plays off their flirting, kissing, "you didn't ask/so why don't you ask me" hence the song title. by end of film, carey lowell seems to have stronger feelings for bond than she realized. so this song asks question again from woman's pov. now that the mission is over, does she have a future with this man, sounds like she'd like one.
seems as though the bond producers thought this through and came up with bookend songs to start and finish movie. nice ending of bond and cary kissing and harbor lights/night time boat and ocean cam for the credits. 007 does it again.

hah!! i am lol over your comment that the music is sometimes better than film, yes i am not a fan of diamonds are forever movie but shirley bassey did it again with a great well sung title song. but to your point, bond imho became formula as far back as connery and certainly all through the roger moore era. producers and tim dalton tried to make some adjustments to the formula, make bond darker, grittier, bit more violent, but still followed the well established game plan for most part. but it's like having your favorite burger just the way you like it, all the ingredients that make it a satisfying feed for you. been entertaining me for decades, hope they find a good solid new guy to carry on the fight!!@@nigeldonaldson1647
