If you rewatch about the middle of the second episode of the first season, Eren, Mikasa and Armin wakeup at some place at Trost guess. Right before that moment Eren had a nightmare about his father. Well, at least he and the audience thought it was a nightmare. And after this Eren had the key to the basement. That was the very moment what was shown in this flashback. Grisha took Eren a little outside the town, gave him the key and turned Eren into a titan. So.... who is the beast titan? 😅
Heres the thing about the monkey titan theory being Eren's dad. Eren had to eat him to gain his powers so IF Grisha really were the Monkey titan then Eren wouldn't have his ppwers right now or it would be on a seperate timeline.
Just a hint, maybe let the scene play out and then go back and dissect it afterwards, because pausing every frame lets you miss the context and you can't see the bigger picture.
