I don’t hate the British Empire. The standard absolutist lefty outrage about the Empire is unfounded. To the extent that their outrage is founded on any information the supporting analyses are partial in that they don’t consider all the costs and benefits. And often they forget that the previous systems of government were far more brutal and unjust than British colonial government.
When we say discovery its important to note that despite Australia being occupied, they had no outside knowledge, understanding or communication outside of the island, therefore it was discovered as both the people there and the people arriving had no knowledge of each other, its an easy concept.
Oh the big bad British Empire. We helped to abolish slavery , the world would be nowhere without the Industrial Revolution. We built roads, bridges, schools, hospitals , canals for the Empire. Not to mention Cities. We brought technology. Democracy , economic development and railways. Love how we are always made out to be the bad folks. As for “ Al Murray” his stand up was quality. Picking on everyone if you were sat in the first few rows or boxes. Tore them to ribbons. His knowledge on countries, history, world events and wars is just genius. A very intelligent and funny man.

The trend for pink as a girls colour starter in 1940s America from what I’ve read. Died out a bit in the 60s and came back again in the 80s. Prior to that young children of both sexes would be dressed in white because it’s easier to clean white clothes with bleach.
