Alright some people pointed out that I shot stun needle on the ice worm where i shouldn't have. I admit, I didn't notice even when recording and it was totally my fault. it was a very last moment and i missed a shot from pile bunker so i was in panic state and then misslicked it. it's lame i know but it is what it is
@@michaelhaley1612It takes *very* little mouse movement to break hard lock compared to controller. It's a common issue myself and many others have. I eventually just decided to use controller.
i feel like the upgrade to allow you to equip primary weapons on your shoulder would have made this better earlier, being able to switch to a second melee while one cools down allows you to effortlessly chain combo, its also pretty fun
@@nottherealspartan Yes, the shield is actually not special at all, aside from being coded to instantly break if hit by the stun needle. Aside from that, it's just a shield. By all accounts, you can technically punch and kick the Ice Worm's shield to death.

Not using the kick really hurt you. It does massive stagger, on broken stagger it extends it slightly and has huge range. It also does pretty good damage but most importantly great for a melee combo in your case of Kick, Punch, Weapon (bay) weapon.
@@Fatalfantasy09actually, because the pulse blade has double swing on its regular melee, it tends to reach its target more reliably for me. in combination with the melee dash cancel tech, i find it to be just strictly better in almost all situations aside from against a huge number of grouped mobs in which case the arc of the laser blade takes em out better, but even then pulse blade recovers fast enoughthat you can pretty easily pick off any number of mobs while staying safe forget all that though, laser dagger and slicer are where its REALLY at lmfao
Sheeeyit. Mad props to you for beating Arquebalty in - basically - fisticuffs. I *barely* squeaked out a victory against him using a Dafeng mech, Ephemera arms, two Hu-ben and two Needles, and I had no grander strategy than "stay close, minis to eat shields and stun, then give him both barrels", and that fell apart almost immediately.
Im suprised you havent used the kicks or especially the weapons bay, having 2 melee weapons on you and switching while the other cools down is something i thought you would do. Edit ah so you have gotten the weapons bay, but the kicks are good too. Also screw that boss with the insta lazer
you don't need the needle to beat the worm its shield goes down just like any other shield theirs actually unique dialog for it not sure how doable it is with melee only, maybe if you have the moon blade on a NG+ run, I'd love to find out.
not utilizing boost kick and not discovering weapon bay until the beginning of chapter 4 really hurt my soul. those two simple upgrades that were available as soon as the arena was unlocked would have increased your damage output and combo potential by over 100%. well done otherwise though

A small tip to make melee even better, when using its charge, dash before you swing to cancel the attack and extend the boost. I use this with knife to rush down people and it works a lot
You can obliterate Ibis first health bar with just the chainsaw and punching. Also using the Pulse armor allows you to make your own openings without getting staggered.

So, I would like to suggest if you went for a second go at this Booster: Allula for Fast Speed, OR if you want a great melee distance covering, go Kikaku on booster. Legs: Spring Chicken and other reverse joints do the best for kicks on biped (tanks have best kick damage). OS: I would also move for Weapon Bay, so you can swap your melee for another melee. My best suggestion so far is Laser Lance into Pile Bunker. LL Charge attack will Stagger most enemies, Pile Bunker Charge after the stagger will deal close to 5K. Besides that, I'm not far enough to say. Middle of Chapter 4.

I mean, someone did a fist only run. Not only fist have shorter cool down, it build stagger like mad, and can combo. So yeah, anything is possible if you willing to try.
@@nottherealspartan The Kikaku booster is your best friend for melee builds, especially the chainsaw. It's melee boost stat is the highest in the game, but quite a bit. This allows a melee user to close a further distance.

So some dude beat armored core with no weapons. He beat the first helicopter boss be assault boosting into it since that does a small amount of damage. Then he did kick with the quad legs since that does the most damage. He punched everything else and surprisingly was able to stun lock a good amount of enemies. Not taking anything away from you and your video, this takes a bunch of skill and video was entertaining.
I'm trying a melee run like this on my NG+ as well. The first wall I run into was the mission where you were sent to attack the dam with the Balem guys. There's a option to choose to betray Balem and the you had to fight G4 Volta and G5 Iguazu and the same time. I chose it and boy that fight was the toughest fight so far to me. You should try it.
This made me wanna come home and play AC6 youst reached NG+2 might farm some new weapons and parts im missing. I allways tryed to play fast and agile builds my first playthrough. Alot of the times it feels like there is only one viable build. But as a fromsoft fan i know this is only me barely scraching the surface imagining that this is all there is. Kinda neat how they suceed with this illusion in so many games, usualy it opens upp when you sink your teeth into pvp
Funny sorry about the smart cleaner in my first playthrough that fits the spirit of this run. I ended up beating it first try, but I ran out of ammo pretty early on and did not have a melee weapon on me so I slowly chipped away like half of the health with punches and boost kicks. It took a while but the attacks are really easy to avoid so I was never in danger. It was pretty funny though. It’s honestly amazing how strong the weaponless melee attacks can be
Writing this without even making it to half of the video: somewhere in the comments you're probably already told of weapons bay, so my input would be you should've used assault kick. On a normal playthrough assault kick looks like a very high skill requirement, cause it misses like always, but on this playthrough hard lock has no downsides at all, and so kick will never miss, just like Rusty. And you gotta believe that hard lock assault kick is awesome.
19:30 I used a lot of melee in the campaign, but like you I was stumped on this fight. I think I ended up with Laser-Blade//Pilebunker in the end, but I did go back and beat it with my lightweight melee build which is laser-knife//stun baton (I call it STOP RESISTING :P ) The difference is I also had Songbirds, which helps a ton during this fight. But honestly I think this challenge is way easier than trying to punch only. It is still hard as a lot of the bosses *do not let you close the gap* and some of the fights in NG++ might be downright impossible with pure melee. Edit: 27:42 lol this is the best plan.
Personally I likely would have used Rusty's legs as they give nearly all the advantages of reverse joints except with higher speed. Meaning quick boosts etc would have been faster. Either that or I might have used quad legs with the Plasma Thrower due to that allowing you to stay mobile. But that is a minor thing as I fell in love with that weapon, when I started using random builds after NG++ Other than that I would have unlocked the Weapons Bay much earlier along with the kick. As the kick is 100% melee and the bay would have allowed combing much earlier. Might have also used Pulse Shields in place of weapon bay occasionally. Since they don't do damage and it fits the melee theming but that is a slight stretch. Ow and Laser Lance + Pilebunker destroys Ibis. You can basically 2 shot her. As a full laser lance can ACS break her. And then Pile bunker for taking like 60% or more of her health. And while I can't be sure since I hadn't seen your boosters the Kikaku are the best for Melee as they have the strongest melee thrust.
Rusty's legs (the Schneider ones from his normal AC, not the ones from STEEL HAZE ORTUS) are the lightest reverse joints. The menu shows them as normal bipedal, but you can see on the model and animation they are reverse jointed and all the stats are in line with that. It's probably just a menu bug.
I'm sat here, watching all these people doing these challenge runs with all these conditions and all I see is them not using Weapon Bay OS Tuning. I'm glad that he found it but I have to wonder, HOW DID HE MISS IT FOR SO LONG? It's like the 2nd or 3rd option in the OS Tuning. I understand fists only not using it but that's it.
Also I noticed that the melee attack boost on this guys AC was kinda slow. If you’re maining melee weapons I suggest the kikaku booster it has insane melee attack thrust 💀
build recommendation: pulse hammer and pike bunker. the time it takes for the pulse hammer to hit twice is almost the exact length of the time it takes for the pile bunker to come off cooldown, and vice versea (for the charged pile bunker attack anyway). this is the infinite melee combo: and it does a metric crapton of damage... so much so that there are few enemies that can take more than one combo from it. tretrepod legs are pretty much required for effective use of the pulse hammer. otherwise just use basic melee equipment. unfortunately its not super effective against light/fast units. when the PvE units got buffed by the weight/speed/ACS recovery changes, you pretty much cant hit rusty with a charged pile bunker anymore. havent tried it yet on snailius (balteous 2), but the new lamergier tetreapod legs should be very helpful for dodging and getting you in range.... just remember to shove yourself directly into the snailius hitbox otherwise your charged pile bunker wont hit
From my short experience in AC 6 (I'm in New Game++ in a weekend), combining a Agile/Fast AC with Melee Weapons using a good arms for melee and a propulsor with nice closing melee range, it's the best you can deal with for all types of attacks since most of them will not reach at how fast you move. Just need to be careful with the energy management when airborne.
actually you can proceed the ice worm mission without equipping the stun needle.. walter will yell at you and that's it. (in my first run i was too dumb to realize what was he talking about and i beated the ice worm with my default weapons)
Just like you slept on Ashmead, I slept on the Laser Lance. That thing made Walter much easier and helped me finally playing through the entire Liberator of Rubicon Line. Now Fires of Raven it is!
You can still fight the ice worm without the stun needle. You'll even anger Michigan for some funny dialog. It's just way harder as you have to shoot down its shield instead of 1 or 2 shotting it. This is virtually impossible using melee only given how much danger it puts you in Tip for fighting Carla and Chatty. Carla doesn't have enough energy to get up to the second floor Chatty starts on :P
Fires of raven last boss is much more punishing for melee since the shield makes them ignore the impact of the attacks AND punish you with their own melee
Im getting this game in 2 days im mega hype. I was gonna preorder it but ive never played an armored core game. And honestly i think my start with mech obsession was definitely lost planet 2
using melee weapons only but not use weapon bays??.... so when 1 melee is on cool down use something else and kick on fisting and changing any of the dafeng generators, Kikaku booster (when finally unlocked) Fimeza/Melander core works (what you want is increased Gen Output/Booster efficiency for QB), Basho arms for legs its up to you you can go for Nachtiere if you want to deploy as an ultralight with higher jump power for a biped from there the melee weapons will be up to your choice of preference
@@water8990 he used it to break the shield specifically, not to deal damage to it. Unless the shield regenerates passively if you have not broken it then this should be possible
7:40 God this one was so annoying to deal with, even with guns, trick is to shoot the core or land a shot inside that reactor to quickly overheat the sob.
I feel like springchicken legs laser lance and pilebuncker would be a deadly, laser lance to come in close and stagger then pile buncker for damage and then the kick to push them away
You could have done it even easier. You should have bought assault armour as soon as you got access to it, should've used a kick, and should've used a weapon bay for another melee weapon on your back. For example you could use a pile bunker and a lazer blade

I'm still on the first playthrough and stuck on the Wallclimber chapter 3 AA22 sword/laser/shield mech because pile bunker doesn't get close enough but punches can't get through the shield. Should I use pulse blade?
Idk if you still play AC6 or not but a good melee build is laser lance, bunker, kasuar head, basho arms and firmeza legs and chest, the max close range fcs, alula booster and the ming tai generator

You should have gotten the weapon bay ASAP. Your melee weapons go off cooldown even while in weapon bay so there's basically little to no downtime between them.
i remember i was watching some mech anime when i was like 4-7 dont remember it very well but anime had to be from like 1985-2002-ish??? it might have been that knight ramune, only thing i remember was a big white ship in space and something like small robots combining into a big one which was also white, there was something like a weird gray platform and some rainbow gun/magic idk im trying so hard to remember what i saw when i was watching it so careless and i was looking for that show for so long and i cant find it anywhere also another show i remember there was like small robots and last episode was everyone of them went evil except one the black one they were like very round and had some x shape on bodies

Additional Strat: Putting your melee weapon on your back so you can have 2 fists lets you punch 5 times on an enemies stun before they get out of it

I think pulse blade might be better vs Balteus.
Pulse weapons do extra damage to pulse shields, so I believe it breaks his shield a bit faster

As nice as Laser Blade is, you should have stuck with the newbie weapon Pulse Blade as it does more direct damage and does more damage to shields.

@@Fatalfantasy09 Pulse blade has better reach, you can hit enemies from twice as far because of tracking especially with the melee booster.
The laser blade also tends to miss it's target with one or even both the swings, which doesn't happen nearly as often with the pulse blade

i couldn't find a way to hardlock using mouse and keyboard. that's why using kick was a bad idea in my case but weapon bay really helps me a lot!

08:09 the weakspot is the inside of the cleaner when shooting from above. Probably hard to reach with melee

Once you get the right parts for a melee build, it's acutally easy mode. Laser lance + any melee weapon is a boss killing machine
in NG+ this would be very doable

Basically just an easier version of a complete fists only run, since you have stuffs like pile bunker or moonlight swords.

Either that or I might have used quad legs with the Plasma Thrower due to that allowing you to stay mobile. But that is a minor thing as I fell in love with that weapon, when I started using random builds after NG++
Other than that I would have unlocked the Weapons Bay much earlier along with the kick. As the kick is 100% melee and the bay would have allowed combing much earlier.
Might have also used Pulse Shields in place of weapon bay occasionally. Since they don't do damage and it fits the melee theming but that is a slight stretch.
Ow and Laser Lance + Pilebunker destroys Ibis. You can basically 2 shot her. As a full laser lance can ACS break her. And then Pile bunker for taking like 60% or more of her health. And while I can't be sure since I hadn't seen your boosters the Kikaku are the best for Melee as they have the strongest melee thrust.
Rusty's legs (the Schneider ones from his normal AC, not the ones from STEEL HAZE ORTUS) are the lightest reverse joints. The menu shows them as normal bipedal, but you can see on the model and animation they are reverse jointed and all the stats are in line with that.
It's probably just a menu bug.

I'm sat here, watching all these people doing these challenge runs with all these conditions and all I see is them not using Weapon Bay OS Tuning. I'm glad that he found it but I have to wonder, HOW DID HE MISS IT FOR SO LONG? It's like the 2nd or 3rd option in the OS Tuning. I understand fists only not using it but that's it.
Fun fact, with pilebunker you can deal damage to the smart cleaner even without aiming for the weak spots
For melee, you should use the KIKUHA booster, it significantly increases your melee attack range for attacks that propel you forward.
Sleeping on the assault kick it does decent damage and would be good while fists are on cool-down
Also I noticed that the melee attack boost on this guys AC was kinda slow. If you’re maining melee weapons I suggest the kikaku booster it has insane melee attack thrust 💀
Not seeing the Weapons Bay be used hurt me physically. A Blade/Bunker combo just eats most enemies if you can land em.

you should have bought weapon bay as the first tuning cuz then you could have used pulse and laser blade right at the beginning to skip cooldowns
The answer is yes. If it has a pile it can be bunked
build recommendation: pulse hammer and pike bunker. the time it takes for the pulse hammer to hit twice is almost the exact length of the time it takes for the pile bunker to come off cooldown, and vice versea (for the charged pile bunker attack anyway).
this is the infinite melee combo: and it does a metric crapton of damage... so much so that there are few enemies that can take more than one combo from it.
tretrepod legs are pretty much required for effective use of the pulse hammer. otherwise just use basic melee equipment.
unfortunately its not super effective against light/fast units. when the PvE units got buffed by the weight/speed/ACS recovery changes, you pretty much cant hit rusty with a charged pile bunker anymore.
havent tried it yet on snailius (balteous 2), but the new lamergier tetreapod legs should be very helpful for dodging and getting you in range.... just remember to shove yourself directly into the snailius hitbox otherwise your charged pile bunker wont hit
From my short experience in AC 6 (I'm in New Game++ in a weekend), combining a Agile/Fast AC with Melee Weapons using a good arms for melee and a propulsor with nice closing melee range, it's the best you can deal with for all types of attacks since most of them will not reach at how fast you move. Just need to be careful with the energy management when airborne.

There is a glitch with the Juggernaut, if you make it get forced off the ledge, it won hit you as much and confined in one place.
actually you can proceed the ice worm mission without equipping the stun needle.. walter will yell at you and that's it. (in my first run i was too dumb to realize what was he talking about and i beated the ice worm with my default weapons)

For the balteus fight you should have used pulse blade as it disrupts pulse armor better and also is better at melee cancels

You can still fight the ice worm without the stun needle. You'll even anger Michigan for some funny dialog. It's just way harder as you have to shoot down its shield instead of 1 or 2 shotting it. This is virtually impossible using melee only given how much danger it puts you in
Tip for fighting Carla and Chatty. Carla doesn't have enough energy to get up to the second floor Chatty starts on :P

Fires of raven last boss is much more punishing for melee since the shield makes them ignore the impact of the attacks AND punish you with their own melee

And they can hover, once getting the coral generators you can stay up longer, use the right thruster with highest melee thrust

any of the dafeng generators, Kikaku booster (when finally unlocked) Fimeza/Melander core works (what you want is increased Gen Output/Booster efficiency for QB), Basho arms for legs its up to you you can go for Nachtiere if you want to deploy as an ultralight with higher jump power for a biped from there the melee weapons will be up to your choice of preference

@@water8990 he used it to break the shield specifically, not to deal damage to it. Unless the shield regenerates passively if you have not broken it then this should be possible
7:40 God this one was so annoying to deal with, even with guns, trick is to shoot the core or land a shot inside that reactor to quickly overheat the sob.
you could've unlocked weapon bay and equip 2 melee weapons at once for different situations, or to swap out one melee weapon during cooldown

You could have done it even easier. You should have bought assault armour as soon as you got access to it, should've used a kick, and should've used a weapon bay for another melee weapon on your back. For example you could use a pile bunker and a lazer blade

I'm still on the first playthrough and stuck on the Wallclimber chapter 3 AA22 sword/laser/shield mech because pile bunker doesn't get close enough but punches can't get through the shield. Should I use pulse blade?
Idk if you still play AC6 or not but a good melee build is laser lance, bunker, kasuar head, basho arms and firmeza legs and chest, the max close range fcs, alula booster and the ming tai generator

You should have gotten the weapon bay ASAP. Your melee weapons go off cooldown even while in weapon bay so there's basically little to no downtime between them.

i remember i was watching some mech anime when i was like 4-7 dont remember it very well but anime had to be from like 1985-2002-ish??? it might have been that knight ramune, only thing i remember was a big white ship in space and something like small robots combining into a big one which was also white, there was something like a weird gray platform and some rainbow gun/magic idk im trying so hard to remember what i saw when i was watching it so careless and i was looking for that show for so long and i cant find it anywhere
