Myself always admire old ksrtc and ka srtc drivers also tnstc bcoz they drove in tough terrains with buses which were without power steering without synchro mesh gear box..tyre technology was also not much..narrow roads compared to today's...high accident rated routes...really they are gods who serviced for development of nation with less salaries...including truck drivers..it is very unfortunate that society of those days saw them as low class.koti pranams to the unsung heroes🙏🏻🙏🏻

Early it was express bus. Once I travelled from Kottayam to Thiruvalla. Then at kodimatha kottayam a truck carrying vehicles while taking reverse hit cable line and line broken. Broken part of Cable wire fall on the bus and got stuck. Driver without knowing this continued driving. Bus travelled taking this cable on the back. Conductor was also in front. He too didn't know it. I noticed it and informed conductor. Bus was stoped and removed the cable and continued journey.

Sometimes I get off the plane at Chennai Airport at 3am early morning. Then go to Koyampedu and get bus , every hour, to Madurai (Mattudhavani). So long and hot but I love it. Then have food and get auto to Arapalayam bus stop and then bus to Periyakulam!!!!9 hours by plane and 11 hours by bus. 🤪

Chetan is giving wrong information. That the river Vaigai merged with the sea ear Pam an bridge. The fact is that there are two tanks( called Kanmai in Tamil) one called RSMangalam tank and the other Ramanathapuram tank. The flood water is first used to fill the Ramanathapuram tank and the overflowing surplus water runs north to reach the RS Mangalam tank almost some 40-50 kms north of Ramanathapuram. After it gets filled up, which rarely happens - because of the mega size of the tanks, water fro Ramanathapuram tank will be released to reach the sea at a place called Aatrangarai , some 15 km south of Ramanathapuram town.
