Gotta love Donna's ability to figure out a shortcut, timesaver technique; and in this case, I think it makes a more secure point on the Dresden blade. That fabric with the metallic highlights just makes this project luscious.
I have been wanting to make a quilt for yearsssssss, have never dared to take the leap, but this video has given me the courage! Thank you
For years I've had Quilting Shoppe's and have taught children and adults how to sew. Quilting classes were my love, taught myself from books from the library,
(before computers). Joined a quilting guild and my thrist for knowledge grew! My health has declined, cancer and COPD does that. Your video's being back so much knowledge I thought I would never get back. Thank you for doing that for me!
Mrs. Donna, you are a Incredible Quilt Teacher, love the comment that described you, “ Quilt Whisperer “ !!! Am about a sew a Dresden plate Quilt from watching your TH-cam videos, love your Sewing Techniques, many of the Ladies that Show how to sew Quilt are Very Talented. They give me Hope and Inspiration… Thank Ya’ll…
Thank you Donna for being such a great teacher. The way you sewed the Dresden blades is such a time saver and much easier.
It very nice, I love it.
Thank you Donna, I started quilting a couple of years ago, learning from You Tube. You always make everything so simple, your instructions are very detailed & so clear you are my guru, I really can't thank you enough for all the time you've taken with these videos. :)
WoW! I Gotta try that Method of making Borders with the Masking Tape, i am a New Quilter and This Method will make it so much Easier for me.....TY, Sheila👍
You're single handedly turning me into a budding quilter. What an absolutely gorgeous design and so well explained for a novice. Thank you Donna.❤
I love your videos. They move fast enough to prevent boredom but slow enough to grasp what you’re doing.
Your teaching style makes me feel like I can make any quilt I want to and I thank you very much for that! So happy I happened upon your channel.

I am amazed with just how chock full this video was of good, fundamental knowledge.
Donna, I’ve said it before and will say it again. You’re a fabulous teacher! And a GENIUS at coming up with techniques that help to make what looks difficult so simple and approachable! I love your videos and on mornings where you’ve posted a new one, I feel like I’ve hit the jackpot for the day! Thank you❣️
I totally agree. I've learned so much from her!
After watching your tutorial 1 million times & getting a template - I made the center Dresden plate & two half plates (I only had 1 jelly roll on hand to work with). Mine look so much smaller than yours & I had to add more sections to mine than you did. I am a baby quilter & this is my first attempt at something that wasn't SQUARE! LOL I had a great time doing it & am going to make another one tomorrow.
Ms Rose I’m with you. Never have been a fan of Dresden, however I bought this pattern this summer. As always Donna has made it look easy for us and it is a stunning quilt. Beautiful quilt. Thank you Donna, you are amazing.
Hi Pam
Uui
Can you send me the pattern please thanks god bless you ❤
I have watched the video man’s times and have all the material and temple. now i need to the courage 😂. i love your teaching style and have made many of your quilts. YOU ARE FANTASTIC
This is the 4th time I’ve watched this video. I am enamored with this quilt. I’m figuring out how I can make it bigger without ruining the look
How much bigger do you want it to be? You can always add a larger--or another--border. Ilike rectangle quilts most times. I usually Dd another border to the top and bottom. On this auilt you might make the center square just bit bigger. Then p,ace the outside Dresdens a little bit further away from the square. I hope this helped bit!
@@sbear7251 thank you yes it did.
I have made this quilt twice, I love it! To make it bigger, I suggest making multiple quilt blocks, -example four of the complete Dresden quilt shown. That would make a nice, queen-sized quilt.
@@staceyfranks01 thank you sew much. I appreciate you taking the time to write to me

I made this quilt as a gift for my MIL. One thing I would recommend is to do edge to edge quilting. I tried to get fancy and do a more custom type FMQ and it really took away from the design. Best job of piecing I ever did and this pattern was so much fun, I am making it again.
Can I just say how much I LOVE your technical wording 🥰🥰ie poker thingie
You have amazing talent in picking the prints and color for a quilt ❤️. I do have to say that the Dresden Plate is one of my favorite patterns and the colors you picked was prefect. This quilt is absolutely gorgeous I love it so much 😍 your amazing .
Hi Donna
I purchased this pattern from your shop and made it in French General. Someone asked on Pat Sloans group to show any quilts they made in French General. So I posted the quilt it has received over 1,000 likes. I did say I got the pattern from you. 😀
my great grandmother made this pattern, my mom took them and saved them into individual hoops with background fabric and gave them to me and my siblings. A piece of our history.
Hi Catherine
@@christiandonaldson31 Hi!
You are a genius at finding the easiest way to make these quilts. Thank you. I’m learning so much
I thought this quilt would be too hard for me, but I think I can do it! The short-cut to making the dresden petals is exactly the kind of stuff I love to see! Thanks and beautiful colors!!
Stunningly gorgeous fabrics. I don't usually like browns, but these caramel-ly gold-y browns complement the blues so well. I have a dresden ruler coming in the mail soon!
That quilt is stunning. I had so much fun watching YOU make it. lol
I love to hear your cutting tool going through the material. Don’t know why but it’s just a sound I love. Very pretty quilt and I love your jelly roll choice.
ME TOO BONITA! That sound is mesmerizing! I love the sound of the steam iron also!!
I like how your machine sounds. I have used a juki and loved it. You are a teacher at heart I think
That adjustment to making the blades is slick! Well done!!!
The first method you showed for the dresden points was so labor intense I nearly turned off the video, then you came in with your simpler way and I'm just in love with it!

Hello Deborah
Love dresdens! So much fun to make!
Hello pretty lady.
I'm loving this fabric/pattern! One tip for the centers if you want an easy turned edge - I use 1 sided fusible light to midweight interfacing - mark your circle on the wrong side of your fabric, and with the fusible side towards the right side of the fabric sew on your line. Then cut a slit in the fusible and turn your circle right side out - clipping or pinking the edges first. Run a bone folder around the edge and finger press. Now your fusible in on the outside, fuse to your backing and your edges are turned under! Sew around as you did.
Thank you for the great tip on sewing both edges of the wedge at once - that will go into my bag of tricks!
this is the way I do it except I didn't use fusible but this is the way I like to do applique I like a finished edge.
Hello 👋
I am not a professional but your idea makes the quilt seem more professional and secure. Thanks for the tip.
I’m making this quilt now and will definitely use this great tip. Thank you!
This sounds very interesting but I'm a beginner and not sure what you are saying.. I think I understand the concept but will have to play around first. Thanks for the idea!
Gorgeous all your quilts are gorgeous
Donna and team, I think this is one of your best videos ever. Your instructions were slow and methodical and just seemed extremely balanced. Thank you for all your teachings.
Hello How are you? Hope you're doing well and enjoying life! Just checking if you are keeping safe and stay healthy💞💕💕
What I love about the Jordan Fabrics Videos is not only Donna’s way of simplifying the quilting pattern designs but her soft voice, methodical style, and attention to details. Thank you Donna and Jordan Fabrics.
I've always admired this pattern. You may it less intimidating. FAbric choices are gorgeous.
Hello pretty lady
I’m usually not a fan of the Dresden pattern but OMG I am totally in love with your colour choice. Simply stunning. I love all your tutorials. Thank you so much for doing what you do. Cheers from Pembroke, Ontario.
same here, not a big fan of the Dresden pattern either, but after seeing what Donna did with it here, WOW!!!, I've had a change of mind. and Oh those color, they look so great together, and the backing, love it, just simply beautiful.
Did any one catch the name of the fabric Donna used? I googled Fiordora and nothing came up. Either I am not spelling it correctly or I am not catching the name exactly. I absolutely agree with Rose.
Susan Paquin The fabric is called Fiorella but it’s not available till October 30. I agree. It is beautiful.
Mary Fehily thanks so much!
@@susanpaquin5231 it is Fiorella
Donna Jordan you have a great eye for combining colors. Cozy Strip Club has Club has great patterns. You two are awesome together 👌 . I can't believe someone would give you a thumbs down, but oh well. There thousands that LOVE YOU❤!!!
Hello Lisa
Your choice of colors and prints is always the best! This one here looks like royal Egyptian artifact. Such a simple picture on pattern package turned into something so stunning!
Agree. The picture on the pattern package doesn't really do justice. Donna's fabric choice shows what it CAN be. Love it! 💖
I love it. Ever before have I seen such a beautiful quilt come together so nicely. Helen
Hello Donna, hope all is well with you and yours. Now, I was thrown away by this quilt the Dresden Bloom, OMG, I am definitely going to try to make it. Thank you you are absolutely amazing!!! I love it.
Hello pretty lady
I finally purchased some teal and brown jelly rolls. Not nearly as stunning or as pretty as this Fiorella by Robert Kauffman...but I will try to make it look as closely to thuis tutorial as possible. This will look stunning on my family room wall. 😍 Thanks Donna, for your excellent inspiration & shortcuts.
Hello How are you? Hope you're doing well and enjoying life! Just checking if you are keeping safe and stay healthy💞💕💕
Love the simpler way to make this Dresden quilt! Thank you for sharing!
Hello pretty lady.
That is a gorgeous fabric line! I really liked how you separated the colors for the inner and first outer borders; very effective. Another beautiful Cozy Quilt. Every video, I try to guess which color of thread you’ll choose for the quilting, and whether I’m right or not, I appreciate your explanation of your color choice. Love your videos, Donna! Thank you!
Hey I do the same thing. Try to guess which colour Donna will choose. I can usually guess but today got it wrong!, 😔
Anita, I do the same. Donna threw us a curve today as she had four thread choices instead of her usual three 😉😉.
I’m guilty as well. I love how she does this as we are learning all the time. Donna, you are the best.
Kathy Eubanks I do too! I’m always wrong! Haha
Hi Donna from Ireland, I absolutely love this quilt , it has to be my next project, I may hand appliqué it as I love hand sewing also, I’m so jealous of all the pretty fabric you can get in the States. It is so costly to get delivered to Ireland.
I made this quilt. The hardest part for me was finding all the material that Donna used in the video as I wanted to make it exactly like it. the main blocks were made in a week, which for me was a miracle. I had some issues with the triangles but made it through just fine. learning process. the friend I had in mind when I made this quilt absolutely loves it. Donna is the best teacher!
I couldn’t hear what Fabric this is…it is definitely my favorite part of this video!!
Can you say the name of the fabric for us please?!
Good Morning Donna from England U.K. What a lovely quilt and such great colours Thank you for sharing it with us and hope you and your family are well.
Hi Amanda
The way u r teaching is fantastic mam. Rekha from India
Dresden designs have never really appealed to me but the Art Deco/Nouveau look of this quilt has really made my mouth water!! I just love this quilt 😍🤩😍
Yes, Sandie Brown! Something was ticking my brain while I was thinking, “This doesn’t look old fashioned at all!” Art Deco/Art Nouveau! Far more exotic design than the usual Dresden plate. You got it in one!
I've had a major fibromyalgia flare and feel so bad today, but watching these videos is a pleasant and relaxing distraction. Especially watching the quilting machine. Thanks so much!
I just got that exact tool for Christmas! The tape trick was great!
I was so happy to see this tutorial. I took a class for this exact pattern several years ago at a local quilt shop, that has since closed, and I never finished the quilt. I have wanted to pick it up and finish it many times but just couldn't recall all the steps well enough. Thank you so much, Donna for this easy to follow tutorial. I am now ready to finish this quilt -- which is a beautiful red and white Christmas fabric. Your tutorials are always the best!
Please send a picture of your finished quilt for us to see. Good luck.
Anita Visram I will do that. I am excited to pick it up again.
I often look at the thumbnail and think no way that’s too complicated for me. Then I watch your video and think oh yeah I can do this! Thank you Donna!
Hello Trina's
I think this is one of your best tutorials. Thanks! I've always been intimidated by the Dresden Plate pattern but you really broke down the process to make it very doable. The colors are elegant and gorgeous. Love it!!
Hello how are you doing my friend
The Dresden pattern is my all time favorite and this color palate was perfect and TOTALLY AMAZING !!!!!!!
I’m so pleased I came across your videos, I’m a beginner to quilting and some patterns I never thought I’d ever sew as they looked so complicated, but you make everything look so achievable💕
Hi Susan
I am so excited. I have watched your video a dozen times and will probably watch it a dozen more before my First quilt retreat in April. It is (was) a beginners quilt group we stated over a year ago. Our instructor has done a great job advancing our skills. We will all be doing this Dresden Bloom! I have the pattern! Now to pick the right fabric! Thank you for the wonderful video!
So excited! My retreat is this weekend!
I always look forward to your videos, you are one of the best "teachers" out there. There are still a lot of us that need the step by step tutorials that you do. lol Love the pattern and you choice of fabric was gorgeous. Thank you. ❣
I love how she makes a pattern that looks complicated, so simple to make. It makes me think “I can do that”
Beautiful colors! New watching your videos-love it. Been quilting about 30 years, but always loved Applique. Now I’m doing more on the machine. Love 💕 this Dresden you’re doing.
Завораживающая красота, прекрасная работа, изысканный вкус.
Да, нам бы ещё такое оборудование и такие шикарные ткани.
Gorgeous colours!
Okay, this is gorgeous. What a fabric choice - one I might not have made before but would not dismiss after seeing the richness of the colors together in this quilt. Thank you, Donna, for another accessible and well-explained version of the Dresden pattern. Maybe someday I'll try a Dresden. Love the split blades too.
Zona Wilson I will add my voice to the chorus. This is one of the most gorgeous quilt you’ve ever done.
absolutely beautiful, colors are gorgeous.... one day, when i feel more confident i would love to make this.... thank you for your wonderful tutorial
I'm always surprised that colours I wouldn't have chosen turn out so beautiful.
Love your nails! You are one of the best teachers ever! I’ve started watching you during the past few months. I need to watch a Donna Jordan video at least once a day. I’m addicted!
😊😊😊 And hope you are learning very fast🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
Watching a Jordan Fabrics video has become my cocktail hour every afternoon. I usually watch one of my old favorites, just for the pleasure of it without having to concentrate. So relaxing.
Love the colors, beautiful, I enjoy watching you .I am just a beginner and you are the BEST , I have learned so much from watching you.#1in my book, thank you for sharing your talent 👍👍👍
Me too. I have only been quilting for about 2 years or so and have never attempted a big quilt usually just make baby ones. But I think this one is so beautiful. I might give it a try.
Donna and her crew were really at the top of their game with this absolutely wonderful tutorial ❤
😮
Thank you Donna for all of your tutorials! I am always amazed at how easy you make putting even the most complex designs together. Despite the fact that I have been sewing garments since age 12, I have always felt overwhelmed about quilting. But your tutorials gave me a much better understanding and ultimately the confidence and motivation to GO FOR IT! I am still a novice certainly, but am having successes with each new project I’ve made, and have even been able to proudly gift and finally sell the last few table toppers and runners I’ve made. I am looking forward to completing a large quilt as beautiful as this Dresden and so many others you’ve demonstrated now that I have finally retired. Thanks to you I am a happy quilter and loving this journey. It’s sooooooo satisfying!
Te sigo desde hace un tiempo. Todo lo que haces es precioso, pero hoy te has superado ¡ Es Bellisimo! Un saludo desde España
Thanks for the shortcut on the Dresden! That makes it a lot easier to make
This so beautiful Donna!❤❤❤
Donna - you are amazing! You're talented, fun, and a natural born teacher! Keep it up, you always make my day!!!
Hi how are you
I have watched several of your videos and you explain everything so well, even pointing out potential pitfalls, that you have convinced me that I could make a quilt.
Hi
Donna, you are such a great teacher. Loved this lesson. The finished quilt is beautiful.
Hello How are you? Hope you're doing well and enjoying life! Just checking if you are keeping safe and stay healthy💞💕💕
Brilliant trick to make the blades! I love time-saving tips like that!
Hi
My favorite of all patterns is the Dresden plate. I recently made a black and while bed spread for my queen size bed. I love it so much. I have a ton of extra fabric for that pattern that I know I can make something similar to the one your showing. Of course you make it seem so easy, but your the expert. thank you.
Hi Pat
Wow!!! Absolutely beautiful. Love your tutorials.
Hello How are you? Hope you're doing well and enjoying life! Just checking if you are keeping safe and stay healthy💞💕💕
So elegant ...amazing color selections...I wonder if navy, burgundy and silver/gray would be as stunning.
Donna, what a beautiful Quilt, seems so easy watching you making it! Excellent idea and beautiful fabrics! Mónica from La Paz, Bolivia 🇧🇴 📍✂️🧵
Hi Monica
Another video that I’ll watch a dozen times, even if I never get around to making a Dresden myself. Thank you for your videos, this one obviously took a lot of work!
Dresden is easy, just boring to do - because it is so easy.
Looks like a quilt for royalty!!😍🐾🐾
This is absolutely stunning, the fabric colour choices are beautiful....
Hello Janet
Donna I would never have tried this before watching your tutorial! It seemed so complicated...but you have such neat shortcuts that it took all the scarey away. Oh love those nails!
Hello Lynn
That Dresden quilt is gorgeous. Love the colors too
Hello Pat
I adore this Dresden. I love the colors that you chose too! What an incredible gift this will make for my son and wife.
Your videos are such clear instruction. Thanks so much!
I’m addicted!
Hello How are you? Hope you're doing well and enjoying life! Just checking if you are keeping safe and stay healthy💞💕💕
I love the Dresden pattern and loved also you giving us two ways to make it. It certainly is beautiful in the fabrics you chose and I think it would make a lovely wall hanging. I would probably hand stitch the Dresden plate onto the background by hand and there’s an easy way to make the circle appliqués using sewable light-weight interfacing on top of the front, stitching around and then turning it right side out. It is a very three D design, oo.
It’s beautiful to do the circle in the center like what you things to do and also if you put stuffing inside the circle to make it 3-D puffy
I just love watching you sew. Making my very first quilt at 62 yrs. Its very simple but I love doing it. I so want to learn all I can. Love retirement. I'd love to try a precut project when I practice a little more. I cut all my first with cloth I bought years ago. Simple squares, but fun!
Laurie, I started quilting too when I was 62. I just turned 68 and have made so many quilts using Donna’s instructions. I’m currently working on her bargello table runner. I have referred to her video countless times. She is in my opinion the best teacher out there on TH-cam! We are learning from the best!
I am obsessed with your tutorials. You make everything look so easy and DOABLE. Very inspiring and I think I need to do one of these Dresden quilts for my sister! Thank you.
Hello Dale. How are you doing?
i dont know anything about quilting put this makes me want to start wow very good instructor.. thank you
I love that quilt, Donna you do a great job with all your tutorials easy to follow I have made a few of your quilts my family love them.
I love discovering new power tools for sewing and quilting! These quilting machines are such a wonder!
I can not say it enough, Donna, you truly are the fabric and quilt "whisperer"! Thank you so much for your detail instructions and snipets of "I found this way to make it easier".
I used ties from my uncle (he never wore the ties but they were "his" because he bought them at a yard sale). haha It is my favorite quilt. I used a machine blind stitch around the edges to attach the Dresden to the background.
I have so many WIP's going right now - adding this one for sure. Ordering the pattern today. Plus having to find time to piece is getting to be slim to none while having to baby sit our great grand-daughter. Your innovative process for making the points of the Dresden was inspiring to say the least. I never finished one I started years ago. Thank you for all you, Matt, and your company do - I look for your e-mail first everyday when I get up.
Amazing job Donna 🥰
This is the prettiest Dresden quilt I've ever seen! Thank you Donna & family.
your handiwork is great. I like it very much. I can't because I don't have materials like yours. your fabrics and rulers are very nice. I am writing from Turkey.
Love the colors you chose! Your explanations and tutorials are so easy to understand, too. Thank you for discovering the "shortcut" to making all those Dresden points also; looked like a great time saver. Videographer did great on the closeups too. Thank you again for the inspiration.
Hi Lori
love your videos. based on how many infomercial style ads now inserted everyone else must like them also. really, it is amazing how many ad's they are placing into your free video.
Oh my, this is the most beautiful quilt you have ever done. Love everything about it.
How are you doing Jean
I loved watching you explain in detail putting this together. Thank you.Eva
Hello cute friend. How are you doing.
Absolutely Stunning quilt Donna!! Thank you for such a Wonderful tutorial!
Hi how are you
I didn't think I would want to do a dresden plate pattern, but after watching your video, I think I'm going to make one.
I love the fabric you chose. Just lovely. Thank you for the tip, taking one step out is nice. I’ve a Dresden Quilt I’m wanting to make and any step I don’t have to do I’m loving to not do it. 😁
Hello 👋
