looks great but there's a bi-directional road leading into the airport where there maybe should be a 6 lane 1 way, right where it branches out after the round-about.
Agreed lol. I always want to leave a comment on OE's videos to ask him to occassionally zoom out for a bird's eye view, but never do since that seems to be the way he likes to play.
A very, *very* late comment here, but the airport train station doors are actually functional -- cims will use them to get to the train station, or even the airport proper through the train station. I hooked mine into a fronting road with a couple of cells of path and ran a tram in front and it sees enormous amounts of foot traffic.
Nice little airport, I like the addition of the helicopter depot. Parking makes a huge difference. My city is a similar size and I think I’m going to build a one runway one terminal - with scope to expand it as the city expands. This has given me some inspiration!
I love this series. It is such a great inspiration. Especially since I play vanilla on PS4 it has often been frustrating to see all those PC builds using mods. But the more I watch Orchad Bay being build, the more I learn on how to make my cities on PS4 look nicer and more realistic. thanks for that. It brought new life back into me enjoying cities skyline.
Catching up and I have to say that this is beautiful and so realistic, especially when you consider that you're playing vanilla. You are just so lovely (to listen to, I mean) and so are your cities.
Love the creativity of that little seperate entrance, with the car park etc. I always find airports a little janky to make, and their glaring un-realism a off-putting, but you do really well to blend it in and make it feel beleivable!
Once again, best part of my Mondays. A few more comments than usual: * Layers, layers, layers! It works for airports, too! * My philosophy on structures near airports: if the planes don't clip, it sits. * Even after all these years, it still amazes me the ridiculous transformation your detailing makes. * The overgrown area at the front, around the fake football field, hit the spot. Seems like a lot of airports have those overgrown, hedgy areas in spots around them. * I am not seeking an application to the airport gang 😆, I love it the way it is and wouldn't change it, but what takes it away from a regional airport into something a little bigger is not the train station, but the double-decker terminal. For me, that's an automatic upgrade to a higher level. * The downtown tile is bought and paid for! . But I'm in no hurry. Very much enjoying the ride.
I love that sight line up the road from the farms, the tunnel, and the runway. It's a little scary to think that a plane overshooting the runway would come down on top of anyone coming out of the tunnel, mind you 😁 Then again, nobody said it was risk-free living in Orchid Bay 😁
I love how the runway lines up with the road which then tunnels directly under the runway. Always blows me away the vanilla build people can pull off. Beautiful.
Love this build! The tunnel beneath the runway is soo cool! What a great position for it! I think that island for the main international/downtown airport will be such a cool build! Cannot wait! 😊
i love the airport traffic thru-way. it's really inherent and looks like a real airpot in my opinion! right down to the bus lanes. nice parking lot adornments too!
The way you parkified the airport is smashing, Egg. That rock work and grungy overgrowth, very sweet. I'll probably add a commuter parking lot outside of my airport for inexpensive park-and-ride opportunities and for folks who like to watch planes come and go. I hope you feel better soon. 🤗
I’d liken this airport probably to East Midlands or Birmingham or London City - a smaller international airport - and then the other to Heathrow - a much larger international airport. Really good video, keep it up!
I love this airport! It makes sense the regional airport would be kinda make sense because orchid bay was probably a smaller city for a while then it grew a lot before they could build the main airport. But it looks really good and realistic!
Very nice build, I would take the big planes out and just keep the medium ones. You can leave the 4 engine planes to the future international airport. I guess this airport is intended for domestic flights, and I don't think you need a 747 for that.
I love airports with the airports dlc! This one is awesome it’s not too big it’s just right! This is definitely where Ryanair fly into 🤣. Just a couple of suggestions- maybe replace the hotel with a multistory car park, upgrade the six lane road into a one way six lane road (after the roundabout) and maybe have a smaller cargo section on the other side of the runway as you will be caught for space in the downtown one and it is located near most of the industrial areas. Other then that amazing build well worth the wait for downtown orchid bay!
Adorable! As always well planned out and thoughtfully executed. Your hoarse voice really heightened the ASMR aspect of the video and lulled me into a prop placing queen while I watched. Lovely as usual, love love love ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Looking at that tall hotel building next to the airport, If you want to it might feel more like a smaller scale airport if you replaced it with a single story hotel and a roadside diner. I've been to a couple local/regional airports and they often are neighbors with smaller diners and hotels/motels. Regardless, great build Egg, love this series especially.
35:03 The doors on the airport train station do actually work - if you have a walking path leading up to it, cims can enter and exit the airport through it.
When you pop the tiles around the air port. You could put the Avian Club next to the Fire rescue area, it would allow for air traffic control to help keep the runways clear. And possible a cargo air port would need it own taxi way so that 2 could fit nicely.
Been eagerly waiting for this since the livestream! Love how it turned out. As usual, your thought process behind builds is the best I've seen on TH-cam and I cannot wait until I get my next gen console (hopefully very soon) to buy some expansions and emulate your methodical approach.
I almost cried when the episode ended. I seriously get excited when you drop a video or live stream. You are such an amazing creator, Egg, and I love to see what you come up with. I shall have to hope the days pass quickly till your next video ❤
This right here is eggstravagant.. Get it? 😂😂. So only thing I would suggest (which is insane cause your builds are flawless) the back entrance needs a toll booth to mimic a security check point. Im at the NY area airports daily and you can’t just drive onto the runway lol
Egg you are the best CS creator on TH-cam! I am a console player and your vanilla builds heavily inspire most of my citys. I have been watchibg since Palaven and this is the first time I have EVER commented on a vTH-cam video. You are one of 3 people I am subsribed to. I LOVE your work!
Egg there is plopable concrete in the content creator packs section in the parks menu it’s a decal but it almost matches the texture of the taxi and runways

It would be insane to drive into that tunnel with a train passing over your head and an oncoming plane heading towards you. You should put toll booths before the tunnel, citizens must pay for this exciting experience 😂
How about adding a shuttle bus route from the airport bus station looping to the arrival area, then to the parking/hotel area, and to the departure level before returning to the bus station.
Cracking build as always sir. You might want to keep a bit of an eye on Orchid Bay's budget - a few episodes ago you had a cash mountain of around ₡19m, now it's down to ~₡9m - quite a cash burn! Not a problem at the moment but I'd hate to see such a wonderful city go bust!
Absolute great build. Thoughts... maybe a plaza near the entrance to look like an observation area. also maybe a pool at the hotel....that is all....my week isnt complete unless i get to watch the orchid bay video....keep it up😎
I mean this is much more than a regional airport. 🤣Can't imagine how the main metropolitan airport will look like after this? 😂 Great build tbh, I like the transit connections as well. I think you had so many people walking just when adding the bus lines, because the AI didn't update the walking routes yet for the new bus hub you added and the "nearest" bus stops were seen for those routes as down the road still. Later that kind of changed, I think. But adding walking paths is always welcome. :)
Hey egg i think you should do a video where you analyse and improve the overall coverage of fire, police, health, education, traffic, transport, etc. I think that would be a really cool video Love all your videos very much keep posting such amazing content❤
Great video as always, just a suggestion since you’ve already finished off the build so maybe for when you make the International Airport but make the departing side of the runway point the air route as it looks quite gimmicky when they takeoff and turn right and for arrivals, when you unlock the tile next to it grade the slope as your airport could certainly gain an award for most dangerous approach as they dip immediately after there isn’t anything in the way. Other than that great video was very enjoyable!
Lots of real-life airports that are trickier than this one. Check out San Diego. Planes fly right through downtown. And that's just in the US. It gets really crazy world-wide!
Great Airport build, one thing though out of the roundabout to the three road split you could place aone way with bus as right now you have a two way and no way for someone to use the other side of the road. But as always i enjoyed the video keep up the great work.
The airport cheese was hilarious and served it's purpose while providing extra entertainment 😁 Lovely not so little airport, that tunnel under the runway is so cool! 👌 Regarding the grassy areas, it's not unheard of but totally understand why you'd go for covering it. For vanilla solution could the concrete decals (the ones from mcm I think) work with prop line tool to cover up big chunks?
This road under the runway make me think about the airport Charles de Gaulle on the north of Paris. To join the different terminal all the road passed under the runways and I think it's pretty cool just knowing there is airplanes just take off or take down just above our head while driving :D
You could do a bridge across the main entrance and have it go down the other side to more parking and hotels. It would improve access when you get the other entrance from the highway added and open the area.
For the next livestream can you spend some time on the transit networks? Do an audit perhaps? Upgrade some of the bus routes? Add/subtract/decorate as needed? I think in my version of Orchid Bay my busses are a bit of a mess. The same goes with the tram system. The main line has a huge demand. Also during your hydration breaks you could do a first person tour of the busses going around. Then eagle eyed viewers can find faults with the routes. As always, I loved this episode.
Adding onto my other comment. I completed the bridge from Swank over the river to connect to Umisen Square. Within a couple of minutes it had over 150 cyclists and 50 vehicles riding on it. I can't wait to begin the road network in the downtown area. Maybe do some of that in the livestream as well?
I like to set toll booths to look like manned guard posts at the entrances of gated secure areas. I did one recently for a Orlando theme parks style area and just have the gates meet up with the toll
I love the idea of the tunnel but i see some safety concernes; if (or when) this airport starts accepting more heavy passenger or cargo airplanes, when they land i am not sure if the runway will hold the weight of the planes. Though it is possible to have this tunnel if you lower it by a few meters or move it underground to the left or right to have more direct support

What an awesome build! One thing irks me, though: there is a two way 6-lane bus road going from the roundabout and then splits off into three one way roads. There is no use for half the lanes on that 6-lane road. Would it be possible to upgrade it to a 6-lane one way?

@@OVERCHARGEDEGG glad it’s finally got parklife industries now, just need to get map pack to unlock bay of rivers and the latest dlcs and ccp’s. Might have to rebuild 1 of your last cities
I've found, through trial and error, that if you only have about 3 - 4 working airplane stands, the airport tends to behave more like what you would expect. You can put down all the stands you like, just turn off all the rest but the few you want working. It really helps the aesthetic of how an airport really works. For me, your terminal extensions are way too long for what you need (regional airport). Take a look at something like Orlando-Sanford. Although there are about 12-14 gates, they are configured in a close arrangement. You don't want passengers walking 3 miles from the terminal to the gate 🤣 Love the series. I've left some other content creators for you, as you are tremendously more enjoyable to watch. Thanks!!
Interesting. I guess I didn't realize you could turn off airplane stands. I'd say part of the issue with having terminals that are "too long" is that so many of the assets have to be connected directly to it: bus stations, train stations, air-control tower, lounges, and the airplane stands. Additionally with the train station, you have to consider the angles and slopes of the tracks, all of which require space, meaning you have to spread your assets out.
Thx for all thé vidéo you Made. As a new player I loved the video about the maps. (Tried already 3 times to build a city but didn’t like it when the landscape was like in the beginning in this video. ) think to start again with diamonds island
Great build, nailed it! Could you do me a favour and nudge the bus terminal section to the left a little so it’s in line with the roundabout? Also aren’t there bus only roads that could be used here?!
This is a good idea for me on console, I wanted to build my own airport but currently I can’t go past 16.32 gb of game space, so I’ll just make my regional for now (also near my farmlands on azure gulf bc I have so much space out there) and then once we get a patch on console I can make my island international airport of my dreams (as close as possible with vanilla😭😂)
One more comment about vanilla builds/new assets: parking lots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Crazy how something so little and "plain" can make a big difference. 200% should have been included with the initial release of the game.
What a beautiful airport, I learn something every time you post a new video! I was wondering, what map are you using for these builds? I'd love to try and build a city on the map myself...
looks great but there's a bi-directional road leading into the airport where there maybe should be a 6 lane 1 way, right where it branches out after the round-about.
I was just about to comment this!
Yes
Yes it does! You're right! how did I miss that!
Also, don't really need the second roundabout. No one will go around 1/4 of it as roads on/off are opposite directions. 🙂
I’d suggest perhaps using the large one-way tollbooth to replace that segment, given you put one on the other entrance near the station?
Would be amazing to see a top down view of the city so far, which would help me out with my own city a huge amount
Yeah, I vote for this
That is soooo helpful if you are building along.
Agreed lol. I always want to leave a comment on OE's videos to ask him to occassionally zoom out for a bird's eye view, but never do since that seems to be the way he likes to play.

man I can't wait to see the first person tour
Always on point! You are doing well!
I do not have this element of the terminal used at 7 min 07, is it something that comes from the WS?
I've found, through trial and error, that if you only have about 3 - 4 working airplane stands, the airport tends to behave more like what you would expect. You can put down all the stands you like, just turn off all the rest but the few you want working. It really helps the aesthetic of how an airport really works.
For me, your terminal extensions are way too long for what you need (regional airport). Take a look at something like Orlando-Sanford. Although there are about 12-14 gates, they are configured in a close arrangement. You don't want passengers walking 3 miles from the terminal to the gate 🤣
Love the series.
Really awesome job, however you should add an ATC tower somewhere.
Beautiful airport tutorial. 😻
Enormous building player 💫
good afternoon OE from a beautiful sunny Allenstown, NH. USA
Also aren’t there bus only roads that could be used here?!
nice video man !!!
You could try and spell out “Orchid Bay” with rocks where the rock pattern is. Would look nice when you first exit the airport
Thank you! This is bay of rivers from map pack 2 😌
