I think it’s also called a hot tent. Not so much here in Australia, but in the USA what Cody is doing is priceless. If you have land in the country this is possible.
@OyBOY-ig9bpprobably government regulation on everything.
Been watching these great videos for some time now. I'm happy to report I took the plunge and bought 5 Acres with a home and barn on the land, all in good working order. Hopefully mortgage free in a few years and the final chapter of my life should be the most enjoyable. I now have a new appreciation for this content and the message it brings. Thanks PROHO!
Stop paying taxes and see who actually owns it.
That feeling of being confident and competent is the intangible gift you’ve given so many men over the years.
That spark of, “Hey, I think I could probably do that!” is a powerful thing!
Thanks, Cody!
Wranglerstar is one hell of a DO’er. Apologized for no livestream and already moved the tent over. Awesome 👏. May The Almighty bless you forever and ever.
It's really good to see you out of the garage and back to making videos that you used to do.
Proho did a great job....all squared up with "dimensionally challenged" lumber. No toes were harmed during this portion of the build. I'd call it a success!! Looking forward to seeing the rest of this come together.
Love this old school type material! I appreciate the care you take in what you work on.
Beloved, a big thing we learned in the Army. Take care of your tools. You need your feet to do your job. Take care of them. Relying on calluses only get you so far. You will never be as productive as the man next to you wearing boots. Get over the mental thing. Act accordingly.
Wow it’s been a solid year since we’ve seen Cody wear the tool belt. So glad to have these kinds of videos again!
How the US Forest Service goes from anarchist content back to cool shet. Bravo Zulu.
This is glamping compared to those little plastic bags pretending to be tents
After a long day at work, I seriously look forward to coming home and watching your videos.
Such a great series, I think I see the vision. First he settles with a tent, upgrades that then upgrades to an established building, etc
Thanks for sharing. Always enjoy long form content like this from you.
Looking forward to the rest of the build.
This is what folks live in up in Alaska, and they're built on river rafts. Obviously, they are very large rafts, with and few smaller sleeping tents, and one huge kitchen\livingroom tent. They live all winter iced in, and either working a Gold claim, or hunting and fishing etc. This would be a great idea to live in while building a homestead. In fact the frame from this, could be made into a storage shed, perhaps with a crawl space below for food storage.
the hairpiece still looks great after 5 hours of construction.... that's the real pro tip here 🤣
Why not notch the posts so the weight is carried to the ground through wood instead of relying on the shear strength of a structural screw? I know the screws may be rated for it, but isn't it still a possible point of failure in the future?
Best series on TH-cam. We need a nomination.
🍽️😋🤤
I’ll second that
I was going to comment that it would be best to measure corner to corner on something this big, and then you did haha. Awesome work, looks great. I know you have a lot to get done, so thanks for putting so much time and effort into the videography; stellar as always
Thank you from Denmark 😀 I have been a follower for many years, and I am very much so, looking forward to this project. I appreciate this format and your editing.
Thank you for sharing. The extra time spent so we could enjoy, is much appreciated. ❤
Thank you for making the title match the build! Great video. Classic Wranglerstar.
"Caulking and paint makes up for what a carpenter aint" a trim guy in Clayton, North Carolina used to always say that...
So great seeing a foundation set up properly. Getting it square and level is harder than it looks.
I always learn something from watching you work! Thank you!!
Thanks for the common sense advice and faith. Thank you for so thoughtfully and thoroughly explaining faith and for being such an excellent example
Im so happy to see u getting back to this type of content. Cant wait for the next one
Those C700 saw horses are great, i got a pair recently. Also recently got my Occidental belt - beautiful item, almost reluctant to use it for fear of scuffing
Looking forward to this would love to set up a wilderness retreat like this for my family
Love the long content videos - I know they're no as popular, but they sure are enjoyable. Thanks!
this is the stuff i miss about this channel...glad to see it
Day 18 of commenting on every video. Thank you for the video. Cant wait to see the new woodstove. God bless
Good job, i love the look of old lumber from a sawmill
This is the content I love. Keep it up. 👍
This is an amazing idea can’t wait for more!
Actually I enjoyed this one a lot! Thanks for the amazing content as always.
Great video Cody! Looking forward to seeing this cabin build progress. Will you sheet it with marine ply or sawn timber?
Awesome, thanks from Chicago. God bless
Man that thumbnail teaser is a thing of beauty. Can't wait to see more!
love these videos i just got back from the east coast after visiting some family and after watching your videos i now see that my brother does everything the wrong way now after seeing this i know why his floor is crooked and thing rolls on it but god bless to the west coast man
Thanks for sharing wisdom. We appreciate you very much.
Cannot wait for the end result, excellent start.
Love these videos. Great job sir.
So glad to see a longer form video!!!!!
Love the old school content! Nice way to change it up. I think winter and spring so good for livestream but hard working days like this make it hard for you and us to keep up with livestream schedule.
Excellent series idea.
Returning to your roots. This is going to be a nice series.
This is awesome. I've never even heard of a canvas cabin.
Was waiting for 345 from the start, didn't disappoint. I was taught to use multiples of it as big as your space always. 6810, 91215 and so on. 👍 Excellent as always, may God bless you and your family.
In addition to the work belt, something every man should own is a good pair of work boots.
This will be good to know! We may all be living in tents before long….
Love this content, thank you
There was a noticeable change in the outside temperature this morning. The seasons are changing quick.
Great tips I'm always in class.
Very nice! Mine would have been a trapezoid for sure!
I missed the episode where Cody lost his boots? Safety first for my piggy toes. Honestly never saw anyone use a shovel with bare feet. Makes me wonder if Noah built the ark without shoes… another great and helpful video!
Excellent video
Awesome Cody. Love it 👌
Great series 👍
I am so excited for to experience your first polar bear winter. Enjoy it brother!
Nice work
As an East Coast man, I broke turf barefoot for 30 something years as a pool installer.
As a west coast man I broke wind barefoot on the beach a time or two.
As a framer in a prior life, you’re on to a good start with everything level and square.
Excited to see this project.
Good job, with the start up Proho. I enjoy watching building something from nothing. We're building a couple of things right now on our homestead also. We will be hand digging our well soon also. When I have the help that's needed because of my busted up back from a bad fall a few years ago.
Hold fast, we're holding the line, brother. Prayers, God bless, and keep me, my wife, and family in your prayers also.
I find it a bit weird that the weight of the structure is not directly on the ground posts but instead on the planks that are screwed to the posts from aside. It basically makes the entire weight being set onto the screws only. It’s probably fine if the lifespan of the building is not very long and especially if the ground is very stable and doesn’t move with seasons nor allow posts to sink unevenly.
Should the ground posts be under the planks?
Just the 3-4-5 tip was worth a subscription 👍
Got alot of people who will come help stack wood if that would help get that live stream back online
Glad to know I’m a proho, having a nice set of occidental bags. They definitely don’t give em away but they can’t last forever
Excellent learning content. Would have loved to have seen the levelling tricks and tips though .
Love your content :)
Love watching your videos but I would like to make a suggestion. The CROWN of the grain of wood should always be down , or in, towards the piece you are nailing to, so when the wood weathers the corners don't pull away from the piece they are nailed to. Maybe I'm wrong but it appears that you may have done the opposite. No big crime but a good practice to follow none the less. Keep up the good work.
How's Jack doing? Prayers sent for him .. God bless. 🇺🇸🌹❤️
Well, damn, that's some well done job right there.
Good project 😁👍🏻
Notes were definitely taken.
May the Father continue to bless you and your house.
God bless from the East Coast!!! 🫡
Ooo, more wranglerstar.
257 1/2? yep 257 1/2.... Damn you're good! hahah awesome video
Would have to circle back to this question when the lives return , but I’ve really been considering purchasing a modular home along side some affordable land. Running the numbers , I can get 5 acres min with a modular home for under $200k . Nowadays modular homes look pretty indistinguishable from a built as home. Thought ?
Nice job!
You plan on doubling the bands that support the joists?
He is my childhood ik how to make an axe handle and put the head on because of you and imma be a Oregon wild land fire fighter I just turned 18
Wouldn't have been a bad idea to dig a bit deeper and put some gravel under those square post stones. But ce-la-vie.
Another bit of equipment that all men should own is a good pair of work shoes.
It would be super helpful if you put a link to the next episode and the end of each video.
Very impressive how you got it almost perfectly level and perfectly square all on your own. I doubt many of us could do the same.
That was satisfying to watch. It must be much more satisfying to do.
If the wood has a crown, and you put the crown up, WHAT good does the level give?
No good…you shoot the corners and get them level…and digging barefoot…good grief…he wants to teach but he just doesn’t have enough skill…he’s Harry home owner…the killer is he’s making big bucks on Y-tube…whatever…🖖
@@setdown2 I would have set batter boards and squared string lines before setting the 1st corner foundation. And he didn't show himself setting up the elevations on the foundations.
I can't get over the soil there it can rain here in south Carolina for a month and it's still like concrete with the clay we got here if I tried to dig in my yard with no shoes Cody I'd be down for the count great video Cody as always
Fellow South Carolinian, can confirm….
Southwest Arkansas too. Between the clay and the rocks, even a pickaxe is of little help.
I see you spend some time thinking about, "how can I do this without involving other people?"🤔 Stay Blessed Brother!
Really like this kind of vid. This is something I want to do on my own land, but here in the uk land ownership is a bit different. Any permeant structure over 12x12ft needs planning permission. Love my government :)))
So is a tent a permanent structure in old blighty? I don’t think it would qualify as a structure.
So from my understanding if it doesn’t have wheels or isn’t designed to move, like a shipping container you need permission. If Cody was building just a platform for then tent, that would be ok here. But in the thumbnail it looks to have a timber roof on it. I’m no expert mind so I could be wrong. From what I’ve heard people need planning permission for bid sheds in there garden, and heard you are more likely to be allowed to build on your land if you are rebuilding an existing structure. Hence why there are so many “barn conversions” into air bnbs around us.
@@Matt00082 yes here if you can establish a structure was ever present permit to rebuild it are much easier as well, but here trailer home are not considered permanent either.
I'm definitely thinking about buying a little land and doing this so that I can escape the mortgage life for a while.
Thanks
Love the content
Love this channel
Thank you sir.
I'll never be a guy that tells another person how to live, but the no shoes is honestly blowing my mind. I wince every time his feet are on camera.
Shoes might help you with that shovel.
Love those safety toes!
Battery opp equipment is a luxury👍 be thankful
