@@bigbarry0946 I believe he had an extra special impartation of the Holy Spirit. And it was through this and the supernatural voice, looks, gentle but had bad temper when crossed( don't we all)?
And the greatest thing was, Elvis was never coy or ashamed of His Lord Jesus. And Father God. Everything he sings, you know his voice will SOAR LIKE AN EAGLE during or end of song. As if to emphasise something. Then after rocking rafters he gently says, Thank you'. Not at all breathless. He was a special anointed human. I will agree on that but we humans were created to be different from Angels, who are God's messengers. Elvis to me was more Evangelist, with his confession of the Godhead, wherever he happened to be. A R&R concert then a resounding Gospel song where he got an ovation was unheard of. But it was the norm for him and making the poor known to the well off. He'd been on both sides of coin. I honestly don't think he could hurt anybody without hurting himself.

I've been listening to Elvis for 67 years (I'm almost 80) and I can tell you that rather than tiring of any of his songs and recordings, they get better each time I listen to them... year on year. Elvis could sing anything and was a master of all genres. To him there were no categories. It was just all simply... Music!

    • @anneashley5110

Me too. Well said Ken. I can just imagine him going into a black Church down south somewhere and the Plantation workers singing this. It's surely true black Gospel and sung with such reverence. He would be singing along feeling the words in the depth of his being. They called it 'lining' in some Churches where they couldnt praps afford Bibles or some couldn't read. But they knew how to sing to the Lord. And Elvis picked up on that, God bless em all. Now we are integrated, I think, but these Gospel hymns are the most pure for me.

First let me thank you for not interrupting this precious song. You are in for a treat while listening all Elvis gospel songs. Elvis was the first singer to sing gospel music during a secular concert. He sang How Great Thou Art. The 1972 Hampton Rhodes, VA was especially powerful. He was filled with the Holy Spirit. The fact that Elvis was (is) a Christian from his youth makes his gospel music even sweeter and more meaningful.

There is such a tight connection between his singing, his beautiful, talented voice and his emotions and feelings about what he is singing it makes a tremendous impact on the listener! Elvis singing gospel is amazing. He won more Grammy’s for his gospel singing than for any of his rock & roll ! He was part of the black community & church while growing up, he grew up dirt poor & I think his going with both black & white churches was deep inside Elvis his entire life & he gave back to communities he was part of & Elvis never forgot where his life began. His gospel singing is beautiful & heavenly 🥰😇💖☮️

He Touched Me. Crying In The Chapel. They just grip your soul. All his Gospel songs are amazing but those two are among his best. So easy to hear Elvis sing them again and again -- after the song is over. That astounding voice of his just resonates. His Gospel music is definitely underrated. Noone in Rock or Pop genre history did more for Christian music than Elvis Presley. Right in the middle of his rock concert he would break out a gospel song or two. Music like this can change your life into a new and more wholesome direction, no matter the pain you are in today or will be in tomorrow. It's part of his legacy. Elvis' gift of music will outlast many generations to come.

When Elvis passed, my mother and dad showed up at my door, with tears streaming from her eyes and dad standing behind her rolling his eyes.
Most men think of him as a "heart throb" and truthfully, he was. Talented way beyond our league. I'm 73 and my grandmother wouldn't miss his appearance at the Daytona Beach Bandshell if he appeared. Mom asked her boss (a doctor), one day, "... I wonder why she is so AFTER Elvis"? She's in her 60s! Boss answered " ... she probably has some hormones"! It is a natural. He was beautiful, all of it, even the sin, because it was forgiven and he's up there.
So much of his music should be listened to by our younger people. They never listened to the lyrics ... we know he had the talent to bring it across. They would gain a whole lot if they did.

Notice he just sang the song from his heart he doesn't show off his vocal talents I wish more artists would do that it made the song more deeper with a deeper meaning nothing extra just a song and from the heart at this could have been a Tuesday night for Elvis not just a Sunday they say you ain't heard gospel to you hear Elvis in my opinion they're right out of money you should try why me Lord that will grab you by the heart

in January 1957 Elvis sang 4 songs (Peace in the Valley, Take My Hand Precious Lord, It is No Secret What God Can Do, and I Believe) released on a little 45 rpm extended play album. I still have my copy. I'm more impressed now that, as a starting out rock star, he sang religious songs as well. But he was expressing who he was, and sharing the music that was inside him. What a guy! R. I. P.

Your comments before playing the song were absolutely correct. I grew up with Elvis...listening to his records, watching his movies, never got tired of listening. He is truly one of a kind. There were no "voice correction" equipment back then and in todays time I don't think there is another entertainer that could perform without one. He is truly amazing.

I am very sorry for the negative comments you have received.
I hope you continue your journey with Elvis and enjoy it regardless of any negativity.
His gospel music was his passion. You can hear why... Simply
Beautiful...yes..his voice touches our hearts with many of his songs. He can sing a story like no one.
    He sings blues...country...funk..
of course rock and roll..gospel. .ballads..
    dixieland...etc.
He recorded over 700 songs ( give or take a few).
    He was multi talented..
    intelligent...funny....
    flawed....kind...big
    hearted...impulsive...an
    avid reader....self taught guitarist...
    professionally
    untrained singer and
    actor.. .self taught
piano player...a loving dad....a man who loved America.... fragile...someone who lifted his family out of poverty.... a loyal friend ....someone who helped everyone from family...employees...
friends and total strangers ....yes you will hear him be unfiltered at times...Yes he made choices in his life that had serious
consequences. Yes he had a serious addiction to prescription medication that
damaged relationships...affected his health and in the end took his life.
Through it all he was and remains loved... not only for his music but for his
humanity. His father said it best...." My son
was a precious gift from God".
Please don't let negative remarks about Elvis keep you from not only enjoying his music and talent but finding out what others thought of him as a human being. He was loved by many people who knew him.
He will always be remembered for loving his fans and we continue to love him in
return. I am sorry for talking so much but I wanted to share with you how I and many others feel about him. .thank you.🌻
