Dude you just saved me time and money from returning some clippers and buying more expensive ones. My old ones broke that I've had for years and bought some inexpensive ones and 1st thing I noticed was they didn't adjust as short as my old ones. Started looking for other clippers online and kept seeing the term zero gap and looked it up on TH-cam and your video was the 1st I saw. Reopened the clippers I had packaged back up and did as u said and they are just as good as my old clippers that I really liked. Thanks so much for the help!!!
Man I appreciate this video! I'm pretty new to cutting and I have these same exact Andis clippers and had no idea that you could zero gap these... And once I seen your video and did it, that guideline came out with no problem. And I been struggling cutting my own guideline for months! (💯 billion likes from me bruh)
Thanks and tip at 1:38 solved my problem informing us to have the 2 curved parts pointed to each other. When I 1st put it back together the smaller blade I had it curved away was from the larger blade. Thanks again
got to get me some of that barber oil.. I always thought that was what generous barbers put in their hand before putting that 10/40 on my hair. Personally I think clipper blade oil works a lot better on blades LOL As to zero gap yup just make sure your rail that sets the fader is not wobbling or you may still do damage to your customer.
On the whal home cut pro. You can push it all the way. All you do is loosen the two screws push the blade back all the way and tighten while holding or pressing against countertop. Then take your fingernail and make sure you feel the bottom blade before the top(the one that moves). When cutting hair don’t press too hard or it can scratch. I just did this for the first time and the results were unbelievable. The clippers cut like a razor now.
Lol should’ve came here before zero gapping my new clipper 😅 no wonder why I got all this little cuts all around my head lol... thanks for the info bro
@@DanielGreen07 I had to readjust them a few times. Just a little bit at a time though. You might not get them to cut as close to the skin, but at least you won't skin yourself alive either.

Thanks! Good question: I briefly mention at the end that it's for precision, but a better reason is that if you're ever using the clippers without any blades, you'll be able to get a really short cut. So if you're using the clippers in the short setting without any guards, it'll be as close to a zero as you can get it. Does that make sense?

Seems easy. So if all you need to do is zero gap the blade, you would just have to loosen the two main screws and adjust the position, and you don't need to take it all apart, correct (like, say, on a brand new clipper)? Also, since you said to still have the top blade extend *slightly* further than the bottom blade, "zero gap" would really be "tiny gap", where "tiny" is something like 1/4 mm?
Can I use a zero gap razor to get a look that resembles a slight grey on top after wet shaving it all off? I'm mostly bald but I l prefer the grey on top of my head that comes after 2-4 days of wet shaving. I'm wondering if this is a good strategy.
So is the idea that the two sets of blades are aligned straight on top of each other? I still don’t get what the blades should look like to confirm they are zero gapped? Lower blade is the one the bottom, yes? Thank you!

Hello, it is not recommended to zero-gap a clipper especially if it has been in use for a long time cause the upper blade will draw a line (groove) in the lower one and whatever you try to be precise and align them back to the previous position you will never succeed so you will loose the sharpness of the blades and you might be forced to through both of them and get new sharp ones. I would like to thank you for the channel and for the simple, concise and at the same time very rich in the most wanted information videos you present.
With the Wahl Cordless Magic Clippers it should be possible to zero-gap virtually 0.25 mm and possibly to 0.1 mm safely: F: Zero-Gap Any Clippers in 4 mins - Tip #15 - Barber - Best so far!!! th-cam.com/video/YKJmk_hxD-o/w-d-xo.html 1. When I zero gap and I put a guard on and use it in the close position it makes a louder noise.. is that normal? Until it wears out the inside of the guard a little?
Nice video! So...just did it with mine...just to be sure..the little blade just go over the pivot right? and the big blade goes on top and when screwed this one secures the little one? am i correct?
I have a Wahl Pro. If I loosen the screw on the gap lever it allows for moving the blades to exactly where I want them. Is that the same as unscrewing the 2 screws holding the blades together? It seemed like the easiest way. Although I still have to disassemble it to clean and oil. But will the blades remain zero that way?
@Sheriff. 0 gapping is for fading, it helps with removing leaving fades lines for better blends. For beard, I would use a trim liner, they give a crispier lines and easier to handle.
Scardrewpro, zero gapping helps you cut shorter, so it’s good for a balding haircut, though you’ll need something other than just clippers to entirely bald it out. It also helps with precision
It appears that most excellent clippers can cut hair to 0.8 mm but if you have a good shaver than it should be able to cut the hair from 0.8 mm to 0 mm safely.
So for super low, balding haircut to get the look you need clippers and trimmers together? You can’t just use trimmers, like T Outliners by themselves, if your hair is already short and you want it super close? Thanks
Unfortunately this does not work with a Wahl Super Taper Cordless. The blade can not be moved as soon as the screws are in position. Or am I doing it wrong?
123 654 Nope, won’t work because the two holes in the blade and the two screws holding the blade have the same diameter. When I loosen the screws the blade is still fixed. It can only be moved when the screws have been removed. Maybe they have changed it with the model I have (Wahl Super Taper Cordless). I have now used two different screws to make it work like you have described. Thanks.
