  • Upgrade, maybe not an upgrade?
    The price on this motor seemed too good to be true. Here is the link: amzn.to/3hIiKBc
    Half price of the stock motor: amzn.to/2V0mPqw
    82mm can, 1900kv - such a great deal for less than $60, right...right?
    Except for that small part I didn't notice...BOAT.
    Follow along as I disassemble this motor, check out what it looks like inside vs the stock Arrma BLX motor and do an initial test.
    Internals vs the stock BLX
    4S speed runs with both motors
    General bashability test with both.
    If you stick around long enough through the video, you get to see some jumps and backflips at the end!
    Having seen this, which one would you run?

    just wrap panty hose around the motor. water wont hurt it and the panty hose will keep all dirt out. itll work I've done it before

    Nice that you were able to swap the endcaps 👍 I like the bigger motors for that low end torque 💪 Check out the hobbystar motors. Similar price and very good performance 👌

    I use a lot of cheap motors like Surpass which is the same company who builds the Rocket motors. I find they are reliable and can take some abuse. But yours being open like that...just keep it out of the wet and mud and I bet it lasts a good while.

    Longer can means more torque not more speed!

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      YES! But...my old motor was getting worn out, so I thought there might be a little difference just from that aspect.
      I was a little surprised to see that the internals of the motor were unfortunately roughly the same dimensions.... Get what I pay for I guess!

      Follow up, thing has been running great for 8 months. I got probably 100 hours on the motor, but only even ran 3s on it. I just ordered a 4s battery 3 days ago so lets see if it can survive the same time on 4s. It was only a $50 usd motor and I mean I am happy with it. I have never done maintenence on it, don't even know how. do you recommend anything for the motor maintenance? can I put a few drops of oil in the motor? i was scared this would just make dust stick to it and stuff.

    • @RoadsideRC

      @@RoadsideRC thats great. one more question if you don't mind i asked a few other people and tried researching it but no luck. My motor says its max amperage is 130a, my esc is 120a, and the batteries I have been using to date, which are 8400mah 3s 120c, have worked perfect. according to online calculators those batteries can do 1000Amp, I don't know how thats possible but thats what they say. I ordered a new 4s battery, this will be my first time running a 4s, and i didn't read the fine print before ordering, but its a 7000mah 4s and only 35c, doing the calculations Im getting 245A this battery can do, that's only 1/4 of my 3s lipos. I guess my question is, does that mean I will only have 1/4 power? or because my motor only uses 130A none of those figures matter, as long as the motor is getting the power it requires? so then is buying a higher C and amperage battery wasted money? I know they say you should have a 30% overhead, but my 3s lipo's are 1000AMPs lol that seems overkill, I feel like theres part of the equation im missing haha, thanks sorry for the length.

    1900kv is not an upgrade since the stock is like 2050kv. You probably just get a bit more torque from the motor but that's it. You can probably put a bigger pinion to take advantage of the torque.

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Higher KV does not mean upgrade either.
      Great example: I went from 1600kv to 980kv in my X-maxx...and it was INSANE! Yes, gearing needs to be changed to match the motor.
      In this example, I was going after exactly what you said - more torque. I got similar speed, but with a longer motor can that provided more torque.
