Quake III Arena is a multiplayer-focused first-person shooter video game. The game was developed by id Software and featured music composed by Sonic Mayhem and Front Line Assembly. Quake III Arena is the third game in the Quake series and differs from previous games by excluding a traditional single-player element, instead focusing on multiplayer action. The single-player mode is played against computer controlled bots.
Notable features of Quake III Arena include the minimalist design, lacking rarely used items and features, the extensive customizability of player settings such as field of view, texture detail and enemy model, and advanced movement features such as strafe-jumping and rocket-jumping.
Quake III Arena is available on a number of platforms and contains mature content. The game was highly praised by reviewers who, for the most part, described the gameplay as fun and engaging. Many liked the crisp graphics and focus on multiplayer.
Quake III Arena has also been used extensively in professional electronic sports tournaments such as QuakeCon, Cyberathlete Professional League, and the Electronic Sports World Cup.

And here I thought hundreds of hours sunk into Quake Live would prepare me for the original's Nightmare difficulty. It didn't. It escaped my memory just how much a cheating douche the Nightmare AI is. The Quake AI uses aimbot across all difficulties, but the Nightmare one also has ridiculous reaction times and, well, they barely ever miss. I still wanted to demonstrate it, as well as the huge gap between that and Hardcore, and so the entirety of Tier 1 is done on Nightmare, with the rest of the game being done on Hardcore. As such I believe it apparent how much of a difference there is between the two difficulties, EXCEPT for the boss duels. The tough ones are horse**** on both, while the joke ones are hilariously easy on both as well. Probably.
Also, accidental lucky timing - I finish recording this longplay and wouldn't you know it, a new Quake game is announced! ^_^ -

This game is even fun to play with bots alone.
All I would do when I played this game was load one of the smaller maps and get the max amount of bots.
Well there are servers on line thunder, CROM and another ones for Europe and Asia, it's very funny to play when I saw the game on steam I bought it for nostalgia, and occasionally enter to some servers

yep. eventually it becomes pretty easy cause they're quite predictable. Phobos and that chinese dude in the end were the most challenging!

Quake 3 will forever have a very special place in my heart. Im not a pc gamer, but my uncle who passed away from cancer, introduced this game to me when I was 11 years old. I will forever love this game, in memory of my uncle

I remember the space levels with the bounce pads.. being able to pull off a rail gun shot in mid-air and/or opponent in mid-air was such a great feeling

I remember when I got my first intel pentium 4 pc , my mom bought it in India saving 3-4 months salary . I got the demo version of this game. I was completely blown away by this . I ended up buying the full version of this game. My mom is still so cool
By far one of the best FPS game ever made. I still play this till today.

Quake III, heck of a game. They don't make them like they used to.
Unneeded details both in graphics and in gameplay ruin the games. Nowadays games are realistic enough that their unrealism is hurting playing experience and ruin atmosphere completely.
Doom 2016 is amazing though

The Classic, Quake 3 Arena and Team Arena. One of the Best shooter game i have ever played.
Everything in this game is just perfect. So many memories.
Man, the night shifts I played on this and clan wars on both Dreamcast and PC, time well spent.
This may sound a bit crazy, but I used to play this game in school with other students if we had finished work before class ends. Dude, it was so gory, we all blew eachother up to bits and it was awesome. Eventually, the teacher said it was too graphic and we had to stop, but I gotta say... This game was one of the best multiplayer FPS experiences I’ve ever had and it made me appreciate the genre more.

This brings back memories of that bootleg disc my cousin bought and lended us that had this game, Bid for Power, and Spider-Man 15+ years ago. We were blissfully ignorant of piracy at the time, and we couldn't get the 3rd game to work, but man, 'twas the best lend ever. Lol.

I may not have grown up on Quake III Arena but I did grow up with id tech 3 games such as Jedi Oucast, Jedi Academy and Elite Force.
Same! Never played Elite Force, though. Recently got into Quake 3 and am addicted lol. It might not follow the same formula as Quake 1 and 2, but it's just as good and just as intense!

I tell people how I used to beat this game on nightmare. But, this is very impressive! The only two levels I couldn't beat was first and last (ironically enough).
Oh yes... How much time and effort was given to that game... I spent a lot of time and eventually beat all on nightmare, well, it was nightmare, I can still remember that! I was a teenager, I remember I downloaded gtkradiant and made some levels with Avril Lavigne pictures on the walls, DDD). I still have Q3 installed. Олдскул рулит)

The good old times, where shooter had sharp and pin point accurate controls. Before dumbed down Medal of Hoe's and Call of Cutscenes ruined FPS gaming as a whole.
