I'm doing this same upgrade... My EQ base and counterweight arrive tomorrow!! I didn't know that I need the thread adaptor on the counterweight, so thank you for that!!
could you do just a video on the process to balancing this mount. This video got my setup complete, now I just need a guide on how to balance it with my SV48 refractor.
Thanks for watching!! I’m glad that the video was helpful. There are no specific parts for this upgrade except the latitude base and software upgrade. Here’s the link: a.co/d/7oiun0Q The software update is on Sky-Watcher website.
What is the great”er’ advantage in EQ mode? AZ can also take photos… is it the max exposers time before jitter or that you can’t start track/plate resolve in AZ? It’s a GpTo mount should it not drive well enough
Thanks for watching! That is an interesting question. Of course, AZ mounts can also take pictures. The EQ mode definitely has its own advantages; that’s why most astrophotographers use EQ mode. Can’t specifically mention the advantages here. I would suggest that you watch some videos on this topic. Cheers!!
great video, i do have a question. Can i use the SVBONY 503 80mm on the AZ-GTi mount. the Svbony 503 80mm is 3.5kg weight ,so that should be fine???. thank you
Hi, for me meridian flip doesnt work. I am using ASIAIR to control the mount in wifi mode via synscan. Could you please tell me if there may be any setting which I might be missing.
Thanks for watching! I myself didn’t try. The meridian flip with Sky-Watcher mount. Can’t csst anything without knowing the details of your settings. In addition to mount and ASIAIR settings, Meridian flip also depends on your location and time of the year you are imaging. Cheers!!
That’s strange. I did the upgrade twice - first to try out myself and then to make the video. No problem at all. Did you follow all the steps? And selected the correct software update?
Excellent. Thank you sir, no one else in YT is explaining this process of upgrading the firmware for the AZ GTi as well as you do.
Thanks for your kind words! I'm glad that the video is helpful.
Yes, M8 bolt, I was just down to the hardware store and picked up one today for the same wedge :)

@@AstroCrescent Thanks for the video. I see many different thread adapters for M8 to M12 with differing thread pitch. Which one did you use please?
